Chapter 229: The Killer Weapon

It was a Witch Artifact!

Kui Yang screamed inwardly, fear twisting his face!

Just moments before, when he unexpectedly spotted Gao Jing, he had been incredibly thrilled and happy.

Back on the Spirit-Powered Railcar, Kui Yang badly wanted to teach Gao Jing a harsh lesson, to crush him underfoot for satisfaction. It was a pity he couldn’t attack at will then.

Now, finding Gao Jing all alone, teammates nowhere in sight, and so many Tears of the Undead scattered on the ground…

Kui Yang felt like finding a pie falling straight from heaven.

Not gobbling it up instantly would be a huge waste!

Kui Yang saw no way for Gao Jing to fight back.

After all, his own team had five experienced Adventurers, completely outnumbering their foe.

Kui Yang himself was a fifth-level member of the Yuancheng Alliance, a High-tier Totem Warrior at the Upper Tier Peak level. He was just one step away from becoming a Great Warrior.

Even one-on-one, he figured he could crush Gao Jing, never mind five against one.

He never dreamed that Gao Jing would pull out such a powerful weapon, leaving three of his teammates dead within the blink of an eye.

Though those three weren’t as strong as Kui Yang, they were still Advanced-rank Totem Warriors skilled in Battle Qi Empowerment.

Plus, their gear was solid—armor made from rock-crocodile hide gave high defense, and empowered by Battle Qi, it was tougher than normal metal armor.

Guys who’d been through years of adventure and battles with Kui Yang, knew the risks.

But none of that had mattered. Against Gao Jing’s weapon, they hadn’t even been able to dodge; dying horribly and weirdly.

Kui Yang had never clapped eyes on a weapon that dreadful. His gut told him it had to be some sinister Witch Artifact.

So when Gao Jing aimed the gun muzzle right at him, Kui Yang felt like doomsday was here!

Bang!

The sharp crack of the Desert Eagle rattled the soul. Kui Yang felt it like a ten-ton hammer smashing squarely onto his crossed arms. His Guardian Battle Armor shuddered wildly. It could shatter at any second.

But somehow, he blocked the hit!

He actually blocked it?

Kui Yang could barely believe it.

As he lowered his arms, he saw his other companion spring into action!

This swordsman wasn’t half bad.

Sure, he was caught off guard and stunned by how deadly Gao Jing’s weapon was.

Still, the instant Gao Jing fired at Kui Yang, the swordsman swung his oversized sword with fury, striking wildly toward Gao Jing!

Whoosh!

The massive blade, over a meter long, sliced the air with a loud whine. It carved a streak of silvery light through the sky, flashing toward Gao Jing’s head.

The stroke carried wind’s sharp force—swift, fierce, and terrifying!

Gao Jing had no time to shoot again at Kui Yang. He threw his right arm up, Flame Blade raised to block the descending sword.

Boom!

The Flame Blade clashed hard against the wind-infused strike, sparks flying in every direction!

Gao Jing’s whole body shuddered. He stumbled half a step back.

A faint pain shot along his right arm!

This foe was another High-tier Totem Warrior, and stronger than him at that.

“Kill him!”

By now, Kui Yang had snapped back to battle rage. Roaring, he charged Gao Jing, Battle Axe held high.

Gao Jing found himself encircled by two warriors of the same rank.

Both Kui Yang and the swordsman were battle-hardened Adventurers, both High-tier Totem Warriors, their skills and power far above Gao Jing.

If not for Gao Jing’s baffling weapon, this fight should have ended easily.

But the three gory deaths stayed fresh in their minds. Neither Kui Yang nor the swordsman planned to let Gao Jing fire another shot!

They threw their utmost power into it. Battle Axe and large sword blazed with different glows, attacking from left and right, perfectly coordinated—sealing every space Gao Jing might sidestep away.

“DIE!!”

Muscles bulged along Kui Yang’s temples as fury peaked. The muscles in his arms thickened massively as he gripped the Battle Axe.

He’d just activated his Primordial Totem—a big boost of strength!

The loss of three skilled teammates pierced his soul. His earlier panic shamed him. Slicing Gao Jing ragged was the only way to wipe clear the disgrace.

Right now, Gao Jing was pinned against a dead end.

His back pressed against sheer rock cliffs. There was nowhere to retreat.

His raw power simply couldn’t hold off two High-tier Totem Warriors going all out!

Yet the very next moment—Kui Yang and the swordsman were left blinking.

Their swinging weapons cleaved nothing but empty air.

At the absolute last shred of time—Gao Jing had literally vanished from their sight!

How was that even possible?!

Both men froze: Where’d he go?!

“He’s up above!”

Swordsman responded quickest. He spotted Gao Jing instantly. The cry escaped him like a startled squawk.

Kui Yang whipped his head skyward.

He gaped in shock: Gao Jing was about ten meters up… plastered flat against the cliff wall… feet dangling in mid-air but not dropping down!

He was also holding something new: a weapon the color of ash and shadow.

Something that looked like a lance crafted for horseback.

Kui Yang couldn’t have known: what Gao Jing gripped now was called the Barrett!

Calmly bracing the 12.7mm sniper rifle with both hands, Gao Jing stared down the sight from above—taking aim squarely at Kui Yang!

At that crucial instant, he’d triggered the power held in the Weaver’s Wrist clasped around his left wrist. A sudden jump launched him vertically upward, barely escaping the opponents’ killing strikes.

Thanks to the Witch Artifact’s power, Gao Jing stuck firm to the rock face while pulling free the Barrett M107A1!

If the Desert Eagle struggled against warriors shielded by Battle Qi Armor Manifestation, well… he’d grab the true killing weapon instead.

Having the Barrett M107A1’s gaping muzzle aimed his way—Kui Yang instantly knew disaster was closing in!

Bang!

Before thoughts could form, flames spat violently from the rifle’s tip.

Fire bloomed directly in front of Kui Yang. His Guardian Battle Armor crumbled away. Immediately, struck as if shocked by lightning, he crashed backward onto the ground.

A gaping hole burst open on the leather armor shielding his chest. Streams of dark-red blood flowed freely out.

But… that Battle Armor blocked most of the bullet’s strength. And the hide armor took another blow. Thanks to both layers, he wasn’t instantly killed.

Only mortally wounded—lasting mere breaths longer.

Bang!

The second sniper bullet barreled straight through Kui Yang’s chest again—tearing an even more gruesome wound, shredding his insides apart, robbing him utterly of the frail life that remained.

Beside him, the swordsman just stared—dumbstruck.

It took two whole breaths for his stunned mind to register what had happened. Never even paused: he spun around and bolted.

He moved lightning-fast.

Bang!

A 12.7mm sniper round slammed squarely into the fleeing man’s back.

Smashing apart his Guardian Battle Armor as it struck, the force flung him face-first to the dirt.

“WAIT—!”

The swordsman shouted hoarsely from the ground. “I have—”

Bang!

The pitiless gunshot cracked crisply again—drowning all sound from the swordsman’s mouth without mercy.

No chance to finish.

None given.

The High-tier Totem Warrior crashed heavily. Dead eyes staring blankly skyward. Life draining to nothing looks pale in sunlight. Skin draining to ash.
