Chapter 215: Returning to Qinghe
Chapter 215: Returning to Qinghe
“Gao Jing is back!”
Excited shouts and happy laughter rang out in Shan Yue Village.
Each time Gao Jing returned, it felt like a holiday for everyone.
It was full of joy and happiness!
The newly returned Gao Jing brought them fresh candy and toys.
Besides candy, the little girls, including Shan Guoer, each got a cloth doll.
The boys got steel slingshots.
All of them, of course, were specially made in extra-large sizes.
But Shan Tai was the happiest.
This time, Gao Jing brought back a full 5000 tons of Baijiu. Part of it was carried by Pack Beasts, and part was stored in his Storage Space. After pulling it all back to the village, it was repacked.
Shan Tai, a great Great Totem Warrior, personally took on the rough job of filling jars and sealing them with mud.
Because this Baijiu was vital to his life’s happiness!
Gao Jing also brought a special gift for Shan Guoer.
“What’s this?” The little girl looked with shining eyes at the white square block placed before her. “It smells so good.”
Not only did it look tasty, but it even smelled delicious!
“This is cream cake,” Gao Jing said with a smile. “Start eating.”
The cream cake he brought for Shan Guoer was 3 yards long, 3 yards wide, and 1 yard tall. Its surface was covered in a thick layer of snow-white cream.
“Ah-mm!” Long drooling, the little girl picked up the cream cake and eagerly took a big bite.
“So yummy!” This was another amazing taste Shan Guoer had never tried before.
She was so happy her eyes became slits. Cream stuck to the corners of her mouth and her blush-red cheeks.
It looked very, very cute.
Woof! Woof! Beside her, Ah Huang watched, wagging his tail wildly.
Not a chance! the girl seemed to think.
Instead, she turned away and ate the cream cake in big bites until it was all gone.
Finally, still wanting more, she licked the cream off her fingers.
Too-too-too delicious! After licking, as if waking from a dream, she said, pouting, “Oh no, I forgot to save some for Shan Cuier!”
She looked very sorry.
Gao Jing was prepared. He brought out another one from his Storage Space. “Share this one with Shan Cuier.”
He hadn’t ordered just one.
Shan Guoer’s face brightened instantly. “Gao Jing, you’re the best!” Seeing her happy made Gao Jing happy too.
“Gao Jing!” Just then, Shan Tai burst into the room, all puffed up and mighty. “When do we leave for Qinghe City?”
The 5000 tons of Baijiu were all sealed in jars now.
This Baijiu would serve as gifts for Shan Tai when he proposed marriage to the Qinghe Tribe.
Gao Jing looked surprised. “You want to go to Qinghe City now? Do you have all the gifts ready?”
The Qinghe Tribe was the biggest Giant tribe within a thousand miles. Qing Lan, whom Shan Tai loved, came from its main family. Bringing her back to the Shan Yue Tribe wouldn’t be easy at all.
Just the gifts already cost Gao Jing almost 200 million RMB.
But Baijiu alone wasn’t enough. Other things needed to be added.
Like valuable animal skins, herbs, and so on.
They had to show the Qinghe Tribe the sincerity of the Shan Yue Tribe; otherwise, the outcome was uncertain.
Gao Jing couldn’t help thinking about Tony and Xiaomei.
Shan Tai scratched his head. “Seems like we’re still a bit short…?”
His expression turned firm. “Then I’ll make another trip to the Blacksoil Hills!”
The Blacksoil Hills were home to more than one Earth Fury Bear. Now that Shan Tai was a Great Totem Warrior, hunting such Monster Beasts would be much easier.
“Take Shan Hu and Shan Mao with you,” Gao Jing suggested. “Try to hunt a few bears. This time, I won’t join you.”
Shan Tai was puzzled. “You’re not going?”
“I’ll go to Qinghe City first,” Gao Jing said. “I’ll wait for you there.”
Shan Tai was shocked. “You’re going to Qinghe City alone?”
“Yes,” Gao Jing confirmed.
For Gao Jing, Shan Yue Village was like a place for beginners.
He grew stronger here. The Shan Yue Tribe offered him shelter and brought him great wealth.
But he was meant to leave.
Otherwise, a life too comfortable and safe might weaken his spirit!
The world outside was vast beyond measure. Qinghe City was just one stepping stone.
Gao Jing was ready to go on an adventure alone — the path every true warrior must take!
“Don’t worry about me,” he told Shan Tai. “Now I can protect myself. We’ll meet again in Qinghe City!”
Shan Tai nodded. “Good! We’ll meet in Qinghe City!”
A warrior understands another warrior’s mind.
Since Gao Jing had made his choice, Shan Tai wouldn’t waste words trying to stop him.
Only after weathering storms can a young eagle soar high in the sky!
And a warrior without a brave heart
will never become a true strong one, never climb to greater heights!
The next morning, Gao Jing quietly left Shan Yue Village, starting his journey to Qinghe City.
He promised to meet Shan Tai in Qinghe City two weeks later.
Traveling alone, Gao Jing didn’t walk. He took out his big G-Wagon from his Storage Space.
He drove this off-road vehicle toward his goal.
Last time, when he went to Qinghe City with Shan Tai, he had memorized the whole route.
With his compass and drone gear, getting lost wasn’t possible.
It was spring now; flowers were blooming. The wide grassland was full of bright colors, butterflies dancing, bees buzzing in groups.
It was very beautiful.
In the sunlight, many animals came out looking for food.
Hearing the roar of the G-Wagon’s engine from afar, they either watched the vehicle rumble over the grass with alert eyes or got scared and ducked back into their hiding places.
Most were little animals like gophers and rabbits.
Big groups of Savage Oxen and Horned Sheep would migrate back north later.
Likewise, big killers like Sabertooth Tigers and prairie wolves weren’t seen around yet.
The path from the Shan Yue Tribe to Qinghe City was still pretty safe.
But there were no ready-made roads in the Wilderness; many spots were too tough even for the strong G-Wagon to pass.
So, from time to time, Gao Jing had to put the vehicle back in his Storage Space and find other ways to cross mountains and rivers.
That’s when the Dreamer III single-person flight gear he’d spent many riches on before proved useful again.
He didn’t dare fly too high, especially above forests, to not get hunted by hawks.
But it was extremely handy for crossing rivers.
This way he went: driving some stretches, flying over some obstacles, climbing hills.
He traveled by day, camped by night.
On the fourth day after leaving Shan Yue Village, Gao Jing saw the towering walls of Qinghe City again!
Getting into this city of Giants wasn’t too hard for him.
Gao Jing secretly followed a trade caravan, hiding inside a beast-drawn wagon.
Being small was the biggest advantage; the Giants in the caravan didn’t notice a thing.
He slipped into Qinghe City easily.
