Chapter 139: The Test Subject

“Gao Jing.”

Shan Tai yawned as he asked, “Little Guoer said you needed to see me?”

He’d been comfortably sleeping while holding his wife this morning when Shan Guoer came pounding on his door, waking him up.

He hadn’t even brushed his teeth yet.

Then he was dragged by the little girl all the way to Ten-Mile Slope to meet Gao Jing.

Shan Tai had privately grumbled about the name “Ten-Mile Slope” for a long time.

But this land in the deepest part of the valley had been assigned to Gao Jing by the Elder Shaman.

So whatever name Gao Jing picked was his own choice.

“Brother Shan Tai.”

Gao Jing stood atop a giant boulder, looked up with a grin, and said, “I need to ask you for a favor.”

“Go ahead.”

Shan Tai squatted down and replied loudly, “As long as I can do it, I’ll help with anything.”

Shan Tai held a great deal of admiration for Gao Jing, this Ancient Descendant from The Abyss.

Gao Jing had brought snow salt to the Shan Yue Village not once, but multiple times, enough to last a whole year.

This stopped the Shan Yue Tribe from being exploited by merchant caravans.

He also brought sweet candy and fun to the tribe’s children.

Most importantly, within a little over half a year, Gao Jing had jumped from being ordinary to becoming a Totem Warrior!

Though limited by his small size, Gao Jing’s strength wasn’t much.

But his effort and talent were worthy of respect!

That’s why Shan Tai was very willing to help with whatever request Gao Jing made.

“This is a weapon I brought from my tribe.”

Gao Jing pointed to the firearms laid out on the ground. “I need you to help me test how strong they are.”

Gao Jing had returned to the Great World yesterday.

This time, he traveled between the two worlds without alerting anyone.

During his last return,

because he changed to Pack Beasts that could carry more, Gao Jing had brought back not only hundreds of tons of coarse salt, sugar, tobacco, and Baijiu, but also quite a few personal supplies.

Like the 100KW generator, barrels of diesel fuel, and so on.

Plus a shipping container full of goods!

Back then, Giant Warriors helped move them into his house, placing them next to the generator room.

This way, whenever Gao Jing needed to take something else out later, he wouldn’t worry about revealing his secret Storage Space.

Honestly, his worry was a little unnecessary.

Because the Shan Yue Giants already treated him as one of their tribe; no one was suspicious of him.

Plus, he was so very “tiny,” and often overlooked.

But being careful never hurt.

“Your tribe’s weapons?”

Shan Tai widened his eyes to get a good look at the guns lying in front of Gao Jing. “How do you want me to test them?”

But when he finally understood what Gao Jing meant…

This strongest warrior of the Shan Yue Tribe burst out laughing!

Gao Jing actually wanted to attack him, a High-tier Totem Warrior, with these things barely bigger than a fishbone toothpick!

It was just too funny.

Shan Tai really didn’t mean to mock.

But he couldn’t help it!

“Ha ha ha!”

Gao Jing had to wait for Shan Tai to finish laughing before explaining with a look of exasperation: “But our tribe’s weapons are pretty strong! They’re almost as powerful as some Witch Artifacts.”

This time, Gao Jing had brought all the modern weapons he’d gathered on his American trip to the Great World.

He planned to arm himself to contribute more to the Shan Yue Tribe.

But how much power weapons like AK74s, Remingtons, and Barrets had against a Great Wilderness Giant…

needed actual testing to know.

So Gao Jing asked Shan Guoer to invite Shan Tai over.

To serve as a weapon test subject.

He chose Shan Tai, the tribe’s strongest warrior, because the man had trained to the level of Battle Qi Armor Manifestation.

Even if Gao Jing shot him with a Barrett M107A1, it shouldn’t hurt him seriously.

Seeing Shan Tai so unconcerned now, Gao Jing had to bring up the “Witch Artifact” idea to make him take it seriously.

Shan Tai indeed became a little more serious: “Well then, alright. Go ahead and test them.”

Though he still wanted to laugh.

This was the natural result of the huge size difference between them.

Gao Jing knew this well too. His weapons would need to do the talking.

“Get ready.”

He first drew the Glock 19 tucked into his belt, pointed it at Shan Tai, who was squatting in front of the giant boulder, and pulled the trigger.

The distance between them was very close.

Within effective range for this 9mm pistol.

Gao Jing aimed for Shan Tai’s right shoulder.

Bang!

The sharp gunshot suddenly rang out.

Shan Tai blinked.

He and Gao Jing stared wide-eyed at each other.

After looking at each other, unable to stop himself, Gao Jing asked, “Did you feel that?”

Shan Tai looked completely clueless. “Huh?”

Gao Jing could barely hold his pistol. “No feeling at all?”

“Ah!”

Shan Tai suddenly had a realization. He lifted his left hand and lightly rubbed his right shoulder. “A little itchy right here.”

Spot on where Gao Jing had just aimed and fired.

Normal. Totally normal.

Gao Jing, with teary eyes, swapped his Glock 19 for the AK74, raised it, and aimed at the same spot on the test dummy.

Rat-tat-tat!

Three short bursts fired.

This time, Gao Jing paid intense attention to the bullet impacts.

He saw three shallow bullet holes appear in Shan Tai’s bronzed right arm skin.

All three brass bullets were embedded inside!

“Huh?”

Shan Tai showed a surprised expression: “That gave me a bit of a sting.”

He possessed the “Earth” Bloodline Essence. Both major totems he had chosen were deeply connected to “Earth,” granting him steel muscles and iron bones, making him exceptionally strong in defense.

That Gao Jing’s weapon could even leave marks on his skin?

That was quite impressive!

“Your weapon is very fast,” Shan Tai said seriously. “It would be effective against regular folk. Hitting an eye would surely be unbearable.”

His ‘regular folk’ naturally meant ordinary Giants.

Gao Jing couldn’t help asking: “What about Junior Totem Warriors and Advanced-rank ones?”

Shan Tai chuckled: “Ha ha ha! It might have a bit of effect if they didn’t dodge or close their eyes. Shooting the body is basically useless.”

Eyes were among the most fragile parts of a Great Wilderness Giant.

But a Totem Warrior’s reaction speed far exceeds that of regular warriors, making it extremely difficult for Gao Jing to strike a vital spot.

Almost impossible.

All warriors were very cautious about protecting their weak points in battle.

Good enough!

Gao Jing’s demands weren’t that high anyway.

Being able to inflict damage on regular Giants was completely sufficient.

He hadn’t forgotten how helpless he’d been when facing the Sin Giant before!

He put down the AK74.

He picked up the Barrett M107A1.

This weapon’s lethality was much greater than the AK74.

A hit from its 12.7mm bullet on a person would make a hole large enough to fit a head.

Severing a limb would be effortless!

“Brother Shan Tai,” Gao Jing suggested, “Summon your Battle Armor for protection. This weapon is much more powerful!”

“What?” Shan Tai almost jumped. “No need!”

This High-tier Totem Warrior felt severely underestimated.

He refused to believe Gao Jing’s weapon could pose any threat, forcing him to need his armor to block it.

Gao Jing settled for the next best thing: “Then how about using Battle Qi Empowerment?”

Battle Qi Empowerment could also significantly boost defense.

Shan Tai glared at Gao Jing: “No more words! Hurry up!” He hadn’t even brushed his teeth yet!

Alright then.

Gao Jing steadily held the Barrett M107A1, sighting the outer edge of Shan Tai’s brawny arm.

He firmly squeezed the trigger.

Bang!

A vibrant splash of crimson blood instantly flowered on Shan Tai’s arm!

The Shan Yue clan’s mightiest warrior grunted in pain.

A flash of surprise passed through his eyes.

Gao Jing was shocked and quickly lowered the Barrett: “Brother Shan Tai, are you alright?”

“It’s fine.” Shan Tai rubbed the wound on his arm and shook his head. “That weapon of yours is a bit impressive.”

His physique, forged through grueling effort, gave him defensive capabilities far surpassing ordinary warriors. Even without Battle Qi Empowerment or Battle Armor, it was usually enough to shrug off normal harm.

Yet Gao Jing’s weapon had pierced his skin and made him bleed?

Almost unbelievable!

Had that shot hit an eye directly, the damage would have been much worse!

Shan Tai wasn’t overly concerned, though.

Once he summoned his Battle Armor, Gao Jing’s weapon, however powerful, wouldn’t scratch him.

As an excellent test dummy, Shan Tai shared his complete assessment with Gao Jing.

This Barrett M107A1 had lethal power against regular Giants.

Provided a vital spot like the heart or head was hit.

It could inflict harm against Junior Totem Warriors.

Against Advanced-rank Totem Warriors?

Unless they were utterly unprepared, it couldn’t penetrate their Battle Qi-empowered bodies.

As for High-tier Totem Warriors like Shan Tai?

Don’t even think about getting lucky by acting sneakily!

That earlier hit was an exception.

Gao Jing was already satisfied.

It could kill regular Giants and wound Junior Totem Warriors. What more could he ask?

And there were still three rocket launchers!

“Brother Shan Tai!”

Just as Gao Jing was concluding the weapon tests, a tribal warrior hurried over: “The Shaman Chief wants you.”
