Chapter 91: Kagome Hall (Part 19)
Another surprise happened, and the survivors all felt uneasy and shocked because they did not understand what it was.
“I don’t think my eyes are playing tricks on me. What is this…”
“We all saw the same thing. It looked like a lump of mud, but not quite—it seemed more like something solid formed from mud.”
“A m-monster!”
Utsumi stepped back in fear, wanting to run away. The others also turned pale.
Fang Jing, however, stayed calm and observed the monster that had crawled out.
It was a monster shaped from a mud-like substance, a huge lump supported by two thick legs.
“One, two, three, four, five… At least ten or more arms.”
Multiple wrists and twisted limbs gathered into a mass, with two large feet as its only support. It looked strangely ridiculous but also gave off a creepy, almost insane vibe.
Surprisingly, Fang Jing did not feel uneasy at all—it seemed this thing had a physical form, which made it much easier to deal with than invisible or undetectable illusions.
“Toriumi Arisu, do you know what this is?”
He casually pointed toward the other side.
“I’m not exactly sure, but this ‘thing’ was probably created using the Vinaya Mirror, maybe drawing power from it. The good thing is… it’s not the real ‘thing from inside the mirror.'”
Thinking of that eerie face in the mirror, Toriumi Arisu felt a chill in her heart and grew frightened.
“If that’s the case, we might have a chance. This thing isn’t from inside the mirror—it should be a mud puppet, like a Golem from Jewish legend, a kind of puppet.”
Once she understood this, her fear lessened, and her mind grew clearer.
“The Vinaya Mirror still lacks a heart to break the curse. This thing is probably a tool to search for the heart. Its power isn’t strong, and more importantly, the mirror should be on this monster.”
“Uncle Toriumi, how many bullets do you have left in your gun?”
Fang Jing remembered that Toriumi Kotaro had a gun. They had also taken another gun from Fujimatsuri Shigeyoshi.
“Together, we only have about seven bullets.”
Toriumi Kotaro hesitated. “Hey, hey! Do you really think that thing can be killed with a pistol?”
“If a gun can’t do it, then my fists definitely can’t kill it either.”
Fang Jing curled his lip.
“That thing isn’t made of flesh and blood. Bullets won’t kill it. You could try using fire…”
Toriumi Arisu covered her palm, where there was an unhealed wound.
“Try to get the mirror out. If I drip my blood on it, we can escape from this Mirror Image Space.”
“Alright, I understand.”
Fang Jing took off his jacket and tossed it aside, speaking calmly. “I’ll buy you some time now. That thing is coming closer.”
Roar!
The multi-armed mud puppet let out a roar and began moving toward them with heavy steps.
Fang Jing took the initiative and rushed forward, intending to block the monster.
Whoosh!
Several mud-like hands reached out to grab his face.
Swoosh!
Faster than those hands, a fist suddenly enlarged and shot out.
Bam!
The yellow wrist shattered into pieces.
Next, Fang Jing’s expression remained unchanged, but his movements sped up. He threw punch after punch, fiercely clashing with the mud puppet’s multiple arms in mid-air.
With each strike, cracks spread across the mud puppet’s arms.
You’re weaker than I thought!
The testing thought flashed through his mind.
Roar!!
He suddenly let out a deafening roar and raised both hands like a wild beast pouncing.
In that instant, without any preparation, he perfectly combined three Torrent Skill moves: “Water Coil,” “Tidal Strike,” and “Stacking Waves.” The final technique, formed by these three layers of attack like overlapping waves, erupted fully at that moment.
“Torrent · Hundred Strikes!”
Suddenly, afterimages centered around his hands transformed into hundreds of punches and palm strikes. Each blow carried explosive, fierce power. The dense attacks resembled violent currents, making it seem like Fang Jing had grown seven or eight arms at once, all striking the mud puppet.
Ora ora ora ora ora ora!!
Like a hurricane, the strikes covered every inch of the enemy’s body. This was the strategy of “Torrent · Hundred Strikes,” especially since Fang Jing had mastered the breathing technique of the Torrent Skill. Each punch and palm contained a subtle vibrating force.
This vibration wasn’t strong—even if it hit a person, it wouldn’t cause much reaction.
But “Torrent · Hundred Strikes” wasn’t a single strike; it delivered hundreds of attacks in an instant. These tiny vibrations accumulated little by little.
Hundreds of fist shadows rained down, and the mud puppet’s multiple arms instantly shattered and broke apart.
“It’s working!”
Fang Jing roared again, channeling all his strength into a direct strike.
Clang!
After a series of fierce attacks, the mud puppet’s upper body seemed to shatter. But at that moment, the broken mud pieces on the ground were pulled by an invisible force and returned to its body.
“It’s putting itself back together.”
Fang Jing was also stunned. He hadn’t expected it could do that. Just as he tried to pull back, he realized a yellow hand had grabbed his ankle at some point.
When did that happen?
Did this thing grow a hand from its foot!
Crack!
The hand had immense strength, and he couldn’t break free immediately.
Bang!
A gunshot sounded from afar. Toriumi Kotaro fired continuously. His aim wasn’t great, and he wasted a few bullets, but up close, he finally shattered the yellow hand gripping Fang Jing’s ankle.
Fang Jing finally broke free with force. He fired a few more shots, piercing the monster’s side.
At the same time, Fang Jing noticed a corner of a bronze mirror in the monster’s torn side. He ducked, rushed toward the monster, reached out with all his strength, and pulled out the mirror covered in mud.
Toriumi Kotaro arrived just in time. He brought cleaning solvent and dry-cleaning solution from Kagome Hall, poured them all over the monster, and lit it with his lighter.
The flammable liquid quickly ignited, setting the monster’s body on fire.
Toriumi Arisu took this chance to drip her blood onto the bronze mirror, destroying the Mirror Image Space.
————————
After Toriumi Arisu completed the final step, Fang Jing and the others felt their consciousness fade to darkness.
When they all woke up, they found themselves inside Kagome Hall.
Besides them, there was no one else in the hall.
The time had returned to 3:31.
The clock had returned to normal, but their phones and watches showed they had spent seventeen hours in the Mirror Image Space.
Later, Toriumi Kotaro contacted the police. Police cars arrived at Kagome Hall and searched the entire building, but everyone else had vanished as if evaporated.
“Those who died in the Mirror World won’t come back.”
Toriumi Arisu sighed and hugged Saeki Wakae, comforting her quietly.
“The only good thing is that we all survived.”
The police were also stunned and had no idea how to handle the situation.
They didn’t let everyone leave, saying they needed further assistance with the investigation.
Toriumi Kotaro smiled wryly and made a phone call.
Soon after, a black car drove to the foot of the mountain.
A man in a black suit and glasses walked up the hill. The other officers treated him with great respect.
Some officers looked stiff and fearful when they saw this man.
