Chapter 4: School
Chapter 4: School
“Then I’ll make bacon and cheese fried rice, since people in this country can accept Western flavors…”
He did not think too much about it and quickly started making breakfast. Besides making a portion for himself, he also made one for his younger sister Satsuki. The remaining portion was sealed with plastic wrap so that his mother Motoko could eat it when she returned.
His own portion of fried rice was placed in an extra-large bowl.
While opening the refrigerator, he also took out a large bottle containing two liters of milk. He ate the fried rice and drank all the milk in one go.
After finishing, he comfortably leaned back in his chair. Only then did he finally feel a happy, full sensation.
“But my appetite really is a bit excessive…”
It probably had something to do with his own enhancement. If a person’s body is severely depleted, it needs a lot of nourishment, and his current condition was exactly that.
There seemed to be something with his mother Motoko’s handwriting on it. He pulled it out and saw it was pocket money for him.
“Hmm! She really spoils her son without holding back. Even though the family’s finances aren’t good, she still gave so much money.”
It was completely different for the daughter. Nishizuka Satsuki’s monthly allowance was probably less than three thousand.
Fang Jing thought for a moment, took out a thousand-yen bill, and placed it on the table, intending to give it to Nishizuka Satsuki. He casually wrote a note telling Satsuki that if the food in the refrigerator was finished, she didn’t need to prepare a lunchbox and should buy something to eat at noon.
After writing, he stuck the note on the refrigerator.
“Alright, that should be fine.”
Fang Jing picked up his phone, grabbed his school bag, and went out.
It was still quite early, so he decided to go to the park for some morning exercise. As a result, his Gōjū-ryū Kenpō progress increased to 0.02%.
“Skills can also accumulate through daily practice, but the progress is very slow.”
That was his current conclusion. He sighed after finishing his exercise.
“It’s about time to go to school! No matter what, for now I can only play the role of a student.”
During middle school, his grades weren’t good enough. Nishizuka Tsukasa didn’t get into the prestigious private middle school he wanted, so he had to choose Wu Long Middle School, which was closer to home.
However, Nishizuka Tsukasa was very unhappy about this, so he even forced his mother to spend a lot of money on cram school.
On the other hand, Nishizuka Satsuki’s middle school grades were average, but she seemed to want to attend the same school as her brother, so she worked hard to test into it.
He didn’t understand what that child Nishizuka Satsuki was thinking, but this actually irritated Nishizuka Tsukasa’s sensitive nerves. This was one of the reasons he started bullying Nishizuka Satsuki more after entering high school.
“Actually, it’s not bad. It’s close to home and I don’t have to take the train. I don’t know what he was dissatisfied with!”
The red alarm sounded, the railroad crossing barriers came down, and he stopped walking.
After the train rushed past, Fang Jing yawned and headed towards the gate of Wu Long Private Middle School.
Even though it was his first time entering the school gate, Fang Jing didn’t feel unfamiliar. Thanks to the familiarity from the memories, he entered the school gate as usual.
Outside the school gate, the tall P.E. teacher Sukehichi was already standing there with the discipline committee members, conducting inspections.
—This was the ordinary high school life that Nishizuka Tsukasa was used to.
But for Fang Jing, it was his first time experiencing it.
————————
“Hey! You’re the second-year Nishizuka, yawning this early in the morning shows no energy!”
Sukehichi shouted loudly. He was the typical sports type, full of energy every day, the kind who only wears short sleeves even in winter.
Luckily, he wasn’t holding a Wooden Sword and was casually greeting students coming and going with a relaxed face. Although he could be strict at times, normally this teacher had a gentle personality. In fact, he got along well with most students.
Sukehichi and the discipline committee were mainly checking the students’ appearance, aiming to prevent students from dyeing their hair or altering their uniforms. The school rules at Kiryō were quite strict. If you didn’t follow the school rules, the school could expel you directly.
Seeing “Nishizuka Tsukasa” walking in yawning, he smiled and said loudly, “Even if you study hard at night, you can’t neglect your health. You should join our club and get some exercise!”
As the track and field club advisor, he often said this to students who weren’t in any clubs.
“Good morning, teacher.”
Fang Jing responded politely. He touched his own face; his complexion wasn’t really that good. The poor condition was a side effect of raising his skill yesterday.
Noticing Nishizuka Tsukasa’s tired look, the outgoing teacher smiled and patted Fang Jing on the back. But as he reached out and patted him, Sukehichi blinked in confusion.
“That’s strange! Nishizuka, did you join a sports club in middle school?”
It was different from what he imagined. Although he seemed like a scholar who lacked exercise, Nishizuka Tsukasa’s back muscles were strong and firm, clearly from regular training.
“No, I’ve always been in the ‘go-home club’.”
“Ah… never mind, it’s getting late, hurry into school!”
It wasn’t a big deal, so Sukehichi didn’t pay it much mind and just asked casually.
After this small incident, Fang Jing quickly walked to the classroom.
As mentioned before, Wu Long Middle School was relatively close to home, but this “close” meant it was four or five blocks away. It took over twenty minutes by bike, and even longer walking.
Plus, he had wasted some time at the park, so by the time he reached the classroom, it was almost time for the bell.
After entering the classroom, most students had already arrived.
When he returned to his seat, the atmosphere in the classroom suddenly changed.
Fang Jing noticed something. He had just put down his bag when he heard people nearby whispering, and it seemed like some were pointing at him behind his back.
Nishizuka Tsukasa was quite famous in the class, but from Fang Jing’s perspective, although his grades were among the top in the class, he was a disliked character.
He was unsociable and arrogant, looked down on most people, wasn’t willing to talk to them, let alone make friends.
Nishizuka Tsukasa also had no social circle. Since middle school, he had buried himself in his studies, didn’t join any clubs, was exceptionally withdrawn, and his attitude of ignoring others kept him isolated.
Because of this, even in his second year of high school, he still acted alone every day.
Thanks to this, he had no friends in the class.
“The situation isn’t bad. At least having no friends means I don’t have to worry about acquaintances seeing through my act as Nishizuka Tsukasa.”
Although he had Nishizuka Tsukasa’s memories, there would surely be small differences in his behavior.
Fortunately, his mother Motoko often worked night shifts, so they basically didn’t see each other.
His younger sister Satsuki was somewhat afraid he would become violent, so she kept her head down when they met and didn’t dare get too close.
However, if it were classmates, they might notice something. But since he had no friends, that helped.
Oh well!
Fang Jing finally had some buffer time to properly adapt to his “role.”
