Chapter 54: Arise, Those Who Do Not Want to Be Slaves!
Chapter 54: Arise, Those Who Do Not Want to Be Slaves!
Tang Chen did not take these five prisoners seriously at all and said directly, “Did you get orders from that little bastard cop just now to come mess with me?”
The leading fat guy grinned fiercely and said, “Kid, you’re quite observant. I suggest you just stay down. We’ll just break one of your legs, or else you’re in for a world of hurt.”
Tang Chen frowned, appearing thoughtful. “I don’t even know that bastard. Why would he send you guys to deal with me? Give this Young Master a reason.”
“What fucking reason!” the fat guy cursed angrily. “We just beat people up. Who the hell knows the reason? Kid, get ready to die.”
Tang Chen sneered, clenched his fists making cracking sounds, and said helplessly, “This Young Master came to the police station today not planning to cause trouble, but why are you bastards forcing my hand?”
“Fuck your mother! Get him!” the fat guy shouted, and the four prisoners behind him charged forward. These five guys were originally thugs from the streets, quite fierce in fights. That square-faced bastard told them that if they taught this kid a good lesson, he would let them out early. Who wouldn’t want such a good deal?
Anyway, someone was taking the fall. Just one word: fight!
Here, because the scene was too violent, five hundred words were omitted…
Meanwhile, in the Deputy Director’s office, Deputy Director Qin Shousheng was leering at Liu Yanran sitting across from him, his mind already racing with wild thoughts. He had never seen someone as perfect as Liu Yanran!
From the first day he saw Liu Yanran, he secretly decided he must ruin this prized cabbage. But after seeing the name signed on the transfer order, this bastard wilted.
Damn it, her backing was actually that powerful. Even if you gave him ten extra guts, he wouldn’t dare touch a woman like that unless he wanted to lose his official cap early.
“Deputy Director Qin, you’ve had me here for over ten minutes but still haven’t told me why you wanted to see me. If there’s really nothing, then I’ll leave first. I have things to do.” Maybe others feared this bastard Qin Shousheng, but Liu Yanran certainly didn’t. Not to mention that the person behind her could make Qin Shousheng’s whole family end up in jail with just a pinky move. Even with her own personality, she wouldn’t fear someone like him.
Qin Shousheng snapped out of his reverie, gave a sleazy smile, and said, “Well, it’s nothing much. As the Deputy Director, I just wanted to ask if you’ve had any difficulties working here for so long, stuff like that.”
It was purely making conversation for the sake of it. Liu Yanran’s face turned cold. Since she came in, this beast had been making small talk, seemingly trying to stall for time. But why stall for time?
“Deputy Director Qin, I’m sorry, but I really have matters to attend to. I still have a suspect to interrogate. If there’s nothing else, I really must go.” Her mind was preoccupied with Tang Chen, and as she spoke, she was already preparing to stand up.
“Wait, Liu Yanran! I’ve already sent someone to interrogate that kid for you. Don’t be in such a hurry to leave!” Qin Shousheng panicked and blurted out this sentence without thinking in his rush.
“You sent someone to interrogate him?” Liu Yanran froze in place, staring coldly at Qin Shousheng. “Deputy Director Qin, why did you send someone to interrogate my prisoner? I was the one who arrested him.”
Qin Shousheng’s eyes flickered with panic, then he walked over and scolded, “Why can’t I send someone to interrogate him? Liu Yanran, even though you’re the deputy captain of the Special Police Team, don’t forget, I am the Bureau Chief. I have the authority to interrogate prisoners directly.”
Liu Yanran’s unease grew. She retorted sharply, “First, you are the Deputy Director, not the Bureau Chief. Second, even if you have the authority to interrogate prisoners, I’d like to know what crime that kid committed that requires a Deputy Director to personally take him away for interrogation.”
Liu Yanran’s presence clearly overpowered Qin Shousheng’s. She was about the same height as him, and with one look, killing intent filled her eyes. Vaguely, Qin Shousheng actually found himself at a disadvantage!
“Liu Yanran!” Qin Shousheng straightened his back and said angrily in a cold voice, “I am the Deputy Director. What I do is none of your business. I order you to stay here. If you dare leave, I’ll dismiss you from your position!”
The more nervous Qin Shousheng acted, the more Liu Yanran felt something was wrong. If he didn’t have a guilty conscience, why would he stop her like this?
“As you wish. I am leaving here.” Anxious, Liu Yanran pushed the door open and rushed out.
“Stop right there!” Qin Shousheng shouted, then grabbed Liu Yanran’s hands tightly to prevent her from leaving.
“Let go of me!” Liu Yanran was a tough character. She broke free from Qin Shousheng’s grip with one pull, then kicked him hard in the groin.
“Ah!” Qin Shousheng let out a ghostly scream, clamped his legs around his groin, and watched as Liu Yanran walked out of his office, screeching, “Stop her! Liu Yanran assaulted an officer! Liu Yanran assaulted an officer!”
The policemen in the hallway looked at each other, about to say something, but Liu Yanran walked past them and said coldly, “Qin Shousheng tried to assault me. Are you going to help him commit a crime together?”
With this big accusation thrown at them, those policemen immediately stepped aside, despising Qin Shousheng in their hearts. He actually tried to do something inappropriate to their goddess. It served him right to have his old buddy disabled.
Liu Yanran walked unimpeded all the way. As she headed toward the interrogation room, a man walked toward her from the opposite direction—it was that square-faced policeman. Liu Yanran’s heart sank, and she hurried over and said, “Lingfei, did you take one of my prisoners from the interrogation room?”
Lingfei was a lecher. Birds of a feather flock together, so this guy was Qin Shousheng’s lackey, more bootlicking than a damn bootlicker. So as soon as Liu Yanran saw him approaching, she immediately went forward to confront him.
“Liu Yanran, what nonsense are you talking? I never went to your interrogation room.” Lingfei refused to admit it even if beaten to death.
Click!
Liu Yanran directly pulled out her gun, pressed it against Lingfei’s abdomen, and said coldly, “Lingfei, Qin Shousheng has already admitted it. Tell me honestly, where did you take him?”
Lingfei never expected Liu Yanran to pull a gun on him right in the police station. This guy was a coward, usually a bully who preyed on the weak. How could he withstand Liu Yanran’s intimidation?
“Don’t, don’t shoot. I took that kid to the detention room for prisoners.” Just like that, once Lingfei heard his master had admitted it, he immediately confessed everything.
“You what! You bastard!” Liu Yanran was furious. She punched Lingfei hard in the abdomen, then wrapped her right arm around his head, turned her body, and directly threw him out. He crashed into the wall. The passing policemen were all shocked. What was going on with their police flower? First, she assaulted the Deputy Director, and now she’s beating up Lingfei. What did these two guys do?
What? You say it’s unscientific for Liu Yanran to be so tough? Sorry, a tough life needs no explanation…
Liu Yanran’s anger had a reason. She was an upright person. Although Tang Chen gathering people to fight was wrong, she believed everything should follow procedure step by step. Without a clear interrogation, and without even bringing the other party for confrontation, they just took Tang Chen to the small detention room. This was simply outrageous!
She had heard that some policemen often did this before, and she despised such behavior from the bottom of her heart.
It was true that she disliked Tang Chen, but she did not wish to use private punishment on people so casually!
“Xiao Zhang, get me the keys to the room,” Liu Yanran said to a male policeman.
The male policeman forced a bitter smile and said, “Deputy Team Leader Liu, this isn’t appropriate, is it?”
Liu Yanran said angrily, “Is it appropriate for that bastard Qin Shousheng to work with Lingfei to lock up a possibly innocent young man?”
Upon hearing this, the male policeman also gritted his teeth. Damn it, he usually couldn’t stand what Qin Shousheng and his crew did anyway. This time, he’d take a risk. At worst, he’d take off this uniform. Thinking this, he walked over to the unconscious Lingfei, took a set of keys from him, and handed it over.
Liu Yanran gave a grateful smile, then walked toward the end of the corridor. The policemen also followed. They wanted to know who exactly made Liu Yanran so concerned!
Liu Yanran led the way, with policemen following behind. After entering the corridor, Liu Yanran faced a problem: she didn’t seem to know which room Tang Chen was locked in. Searching room by room seemed too slow.
Just then, a howling, miserable singing came from one of the small rooms: “Arise, those who do not want to be slaves, let our flesh and blood build our new Great Wall…”
Liu Yanran froze. The policemen also froze. What was going on? Where was the national anthem coming from? Who was singing?
Liu Yanran listened carefully; it seemed to be the innermost room. She quickly walked over, looked through the iron door, and was immediately caught between laughter and tears.
She saw Tang Chen sitting on a chair with his legs crossed, a cigarette dangling from his mouth. The five prisoners who wanted to beat up Tang Chen were squatting on the ground with their hands on their heads, bruised and swollen, singing the national anthem with voices like slaughtered pigs, tearful and continuous. They all looked pained; some even had snot smeared on their faces, apparently having been taught a harsh lesson by Tang Chen just now.
Indeed, these five bastards originally thought they could teach Tang Chen a good lesson, but instead, they were the ones who got taught a lesson.
At this moment, the policemen’s gazes were fixed in bewilderment. What exactly was going on? Was there anything more bizarre than this?
The singing continued. Tang Chen stood up, seemingly unaware that Liu Yanran and the others had arrived. He discontentedly kicked the fat guy in the head and said, “You’re off-key, you bastard. Sing with me.” Saying this, Tang Chen led in his raspy voice: “We, millions of people, with one heart, braving the enemy’s fire, march on, march on, march on, on!”
