Chapter 53: Explaining the Rules to a Newcomer

It had to be said that Liu Yanran was unrivaled in fierceness. Which ordinary girl would say something like breaking a guy’s “gun”? She truly was a top-tier tomboy, absolutely badass.

Tang Chen looked totally stunned. He was clearly defeated by this fiery police sister and could only give an awkward smile, not daring to say a word as he got into Liu Yanran’s car.

Liu Yanran sat in the driver’s seat without saying a word. Meanwhile, Tang Chen couldn’t stop his wandering eyes from sizing up Liu Yanran’s chest. His gaze was obviously lecherous.

“Have you looked enough!” Liu Yanran finally couldn’t take it anymore. Couldn’t this jerk be a bit more subtle with his staring?

“Not yet. I want to touch them.” Tang Chen shamelessly replied. Damn, that line was just plain sleazy.

“You’re asking for death!” Blushing with anger, Liu Yanran swung her delicate fist and punched Tang Chen hard on the nose. Tang Chen never expected Liu Yanran to attack him by surprise. He cried out in pain, covered his nose, and blood started flowing.

“Police Sister, how can you hit someone? Our teacher said that as a good youth and student, one should always speak the truth. Why do you hit me when I tell the truth? You’re bullying me.” Tang Chen wiped the blood from his nose, feeling wronged and almost crying.

“Shut up!” Liu Yanran was so furious she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. What kind of nonsense was this? Was this the so-called “it’s not the hooligan you should fear, but the educated hooligan”?

“Respected Host, even I can’t stand watching this. You’re really embarrassing.” The System disdainfully added insult to injury, its tone full of contempt.

“Get lost.” Tang Chen angrily cursed, his lips twitching as he retorted, “What the hell do you know, you stupid System? This isn’t embarrassing, it’s called flirtation, got it?”

Tang Chen was no longer in the mood to joke with Liu Yanran. They drove all the way to the police station in silence. Liu Yanran took Tang Chen to the Interrogation Room and had him sit in the chair opposite her.

Tang Chen said unhappily, “Police Sister, today’s incident wasn’t started by me. Do we need to make such a big deal out of it?”

Liu Yanran snorted coldly, took out a file, and said sternly, “Cut the crap. We’ll talk after my colleagues bring in the others. First, I’m taking your statement. Name.”

Tang Chen pouted and said, “Tang Chen. And you?”

“Liu Yanran—wait, no! I asked for your name, why are you asking me?” Liu Yanran accidentally said her own name without thinking and only realized she’d been tricked by Tang Chen afterward.

Tang Chen chuckled and said, “Sister Yanran, that’s not right. When two strangers meet, they should exchange names first. That’s basic courtesy.”

“Where do you get all these twisted logics? I’m interrogating you!” Liu Yanran lost her temper again, frowning as she said, “Also, don’t call me Sister Yanran or anything like that. I’m not familiar with you.”

Tang Chen whistled, completely ignoring the Ice Queen’s anger, and casually said, “Well, that’s how they do it on dating shows on TV.”

Dating shows? Liu Yanran’s face turned completely dark, black lines appearing on her forehead. She then pulled out her handgun and slammed it on the table, almost growling, “Tang Chen, I’m warning you, this is a police station. Watch what you say, or I’ll shoot you dead!”

“Uh.” Tang Chen was speechless. This Police Sister seemed to have quite the temper. Feeling somewhat bored, he said, “Alright, alright, I’ll stop joking with you. It’s really no fun; can’t even crack a joke.”

Liu Yanran was on the verge of exploding. This bastard, did he not realize she was interrogating him? This was a police station, for heaven’s sake! Damn it, if not for the badge on her uniform, then at least out of respect for this being a police station, could he please take this seriously, you jerk!

Liu Yanran repeatedly told herself to stay calm and composed, that she shouldn’t bother with such a little brat. Just then, a pleasant mobile phone ringtone sounded.

“Sorry, Police Sister, I need to take this call.” Tang Chen ignored Liu Yanran, directly took out his mobile phone, and answered, “Hello, who is this?”

The caller was none other than Yang Mi. Yang Mi asked, “Tang Chen, where are you? Why didn’t you come to class again today?”

“Enough, cut the nonsense. Weren’t you going to take my statement? Hurry up.” Tang Chen waved his hand impatiently, his impression of Liu Yanran worsening. She said Yang Mi was kidnapped by him? Wasn’t that just blatantly looking down on him?

Tang Chen never had a good expression for those who looked down on him.

Seeing Tang Chen suddenly turn cold, Liu Yanran felt her anger rise again. Just as she was about to continue the interrogation, the door suddenly opened, and a young police officer walked in.

“Deputy Team Leader Liu, the Deputy Director wants to see you.” The male police officer said to Liu Yanran.

Liu Yanran immediately felt annoyed upon hearing “Deputy Director.” The frost on her face deepened. That guy was no good; relying on his position as Deputy Director, he was rumored to have harassed many pretty female officers in the station. Everyone was afraid of his status and didn’t dare say anything.

Naturally, a beauty like Liu Yanran wouldn’t be spared by the Deputy Director either. However, Liu Yanran had connections higher up, so he didn’t dare go too far. Still, he often found excuses to summon Liu Yanran.

“What’s it about?” Liu Yanran frowned and asked coldly.

The male officer looked troubled. “Deputy Team Leader Liu, how would I know about the Deputy Director’s affairs? I don’t dare ask. You’d better go see for yourself.”

Liu Yanran looked displeased but, due to the other’s position, didn’t dare say more. She just said, “You go ahead, I’ll be right there.” Remembering something, she told the male officer, “Don’t let anyone touch this guy before I get back. I’ll interrogate him myself when I return.”

“Yes, don’t worry.” The male officer agreed and left.

Liu Yanran coldly said to Tang Chen, “You behave yourself. I’ll be back to interrogate you shortly.”

Tang Chen shrugged and smiled, “I’ll wait for you to return, Police Sister.”

Liu Yanran had gotten used to him calling her Police Sister and didn’t say anything, turning and walking out.

After Liu Yanran left, only Tang Chen remained in the Interrogation Room. Just then, the door opened again, and a square-faced police officer walked in, barking coldly, “You, come with me.”

Tang Chen frowned. This square-faced officer didn’t look like a good person just from his appearance. He said, “Why should I go out? Police Sister told me to wait here for her return.”

The square-faced officer couldn’t be bothered to argue with Tang Chen. He directly pulled out his police baton from his waist and walked over, saying, “What damn Police Sister? Cut the crap. I received orders from above to take you away. No more talking, get up now, or I’ll beat the crap out of you!”

Tang Chen narrowed his eyes. Although beating up this trash wouldn’t be a big deal for him now, this was still a police station. Until he figured out what was going on, he didn’t want to cause trouble. Reluctantly, he said, “Fine, I’ll go with you.”

“Hmph.” The square-faced officer, as if to prevent Tang Chen from escaping, walked behind him and pressed the baton against his back, saying, “Follow me.”

Tang Chen’s eyes turned cold, but he didn’t lose his temper. He quietly walked out. After leaving the Interrogation Room, they passed through a corridor. The officers they passed actively greeted the square-faced officer, suggesting his rank was quite high.

Ahead appeared several small rooms resembling prison cells, with iron doors, iron windows, and iron locks. These were temporary holding cells for detainees.

“Hey, I haven’t committed any crime. Why are you bringing me here?” Tang Chen felt uneasy. What was going on? It seemed like this asshole was planning to lock him up.

“Shut up. Get in and behave.” The square-faced officer opened one of the doors and shoved Tang Chen inside. Tang Chen clearly saw the square-faced officer wink at a fat man inside the room.

The door was closed. The square-faced officer added unnecessarily, “All of you, behave yourselves.” His words sounded like an order. As soon as the square-faced officer left, all five detainees in the holding cell stood up, cracking their knuckles and necks, and sneered, “Brothers, let’s explain the rules to the newcomer!”
