Chapter 5: Ten Thousand Each
Chapter 5: Ten Thousand Each
Tang Chen followed Boss Pang into the largest private room in Junyue. Boss Pang left for a while, saying he would personally arrange for the chef to prepare food for Tang Chen. Tang Chen felt bored for a moment.
“System, are you there?” Tang Chen asked softly in his mind.
System: “Respected Host, this System is always here.”
Tang Chen twitched his mouth and said helplessly, “System, I find you quite an idiot sometimes.”
System: “Respected Host, the System’s self-awareness and habits are connected to the Host. In other words, they are influenced by the Host. If you call me an idiot, you are essentially calling yourself an idiot.”
Tang Chen’s face darkened. This System was pretty good at twisting words. He casually asked, “By the way, System, where did you come from?”
The System paused for a moment, then said, “Respected Host, I’m sorry, but I cannot answer that question. I only know that I have existed for a very long time. As for exactly where I came from, I have forgotten.”
Tang Chen said sadly, “Then you are truly pitiful. You don’t even know where you came from. Since you’ve existed for a long time, I must not be your first Host, right?”
The System replied, “Yes, you are the System’s fourth Host.”
Tang Chen said curiously, “Then what did the first three Hosts do after they got you? Did they become the ultimate tall, rich, and handsome man you mentioned?”
The System’s tone sounded odd as it said, “Respected Host, are you sure you want to know?”
Tang Chen rolled his eyes and said, “Of course! Can’t you tell I’m really bored right now? It would be fun to hear.”
“Alright,” the System said. “After the first Host obtained this System, he was so excited that he had a heart attack and died on the spot, failing to complete the System’s autonomous mission. The second Host asked me for a pen—a magic pen. Then, whatever he drew on paper with that pen would come true. But later, for some strange reason, he drew a beautiful woman to keep him company. He became immersed in pleasure every day and eventually died from exhaustion. The third Host, your predecessor, was much more normal. After obtaining this System, he killed a tiger on a mountain and gained the admiration of many villagers. But this guy was a bit twisted; he fell in love with his Big Brother’s woman. Later, he killed his Big Brother and ran away with her. This System felt such a person had no humanity, so while they were escaping, it forcibly teleported them to the edge of a cliff and pushed them off. In the end, both of them died.”
As Tang Chen listened, his mouth twitched. Damn, he understood now. In short, none of the first three Hosts had a good ending—one died of a heart attack, one died from exhaustion, and the other was killed by the System.
“By the way, System, you won’t kill me too, will you?” Tang Chen asked nervously. This System was way too powerful. If it really wanted to kill him, he would have no ability to resist.
System: “Respected Host, I really think you’re quite stupid. Do you think this System is the type to kill innocent people? This System is very reasonable. If you complete the missions I assign and do nothing bad, why would I kill you? Besides, the moment your DNA connected with the System’s consciousness, it meant this System will always belong to you and will never betray you.”
Tang Chen said doubtfully, “Then why were you able to kill the third Host?”
System: “Respected Host, it’s like the saying you humans often use: if you don’t seek death, you won’t die. If he hadn’t done something so terribly wrong, this System wouldn’t have done anything to him.”
Tang Chen said nothing more. Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Boss Pang’s voice came through: “Young Master Tang, the food is ready.”
Tang Chen hummed in acknowledgment and said, “Boss Tang, come in.”
The door opened, and Boss Pang walked in, followed by a waitress in a cheongsam carrying a food tray. She looked very pretty and delicate.
Tang Chen’s eyes were immediately drawn to her. It was no wonder—he was eighteen and still a virgin. Seeing such a uniform, it was hard for him to control himself.
Tang Chen coughed lightly and said to Boss Pang, “Old Pang, put the dishes down.”
“Yes. Xiao Li, quickly bring the dishes to Young Master Tang,” Boss Pang said to the girl behind him. The girl nervously placed the dishes from the tray in front of Tang Chen. She had heard from the Boss that this young man spent Five Billion to buy Junyue. From now on, he was their big Boss.
“Don’t be nervous, take your time,” Tang Chen said kindly with a smile. After Xiao Li finished arranging the dishes, he asked, “Your name is Xiao Li, right? How old are you?”
Xiao Li didn’t dare to look at Tang Chen and said shyly, “Young Master Tang, I’m nineteen this year.”
“Nineteen? A year older than me. At your age, you should be in school. Why did you decide to work? Someone so young shouldn’t be carrying trays. Old Pang,” Tang Chen spoke quickly and then called for Boss Pang.
Boss Pang hurried over and asked, “Young Master Tang, what do you need?”
Tang Chen pointed at Xiao Li and said, “Someone so pretty—ahem—so young shouldn’t be doing rough work like carrying trays. Arrange for her to be a lobby manager or something, as long as it’s easier than her current job. Monthly salary thirty thousand.”
Xiao Li was also startled and wanted to wave her hands to refuse, but she saw Boss Pang giving her a meaningful look. Boss Pang then said to Tang Chen, “Don’t worry, Young Master Tang, I will definitely arrange it.”
Tang Chen hummed in agreement, then smiled at Xiao Li and said, “Sister Xiao Li, from now on, when I come here to eat, you will be in charge of the arrangements. Understand?”
Seeing Xiao Li stunned, Boss Pang quickly said, “Hurry up and thank Young Master Tang.” At the same time, he felt envious—being young and beautiful really was an advantage. Just like that, she rose from rags to riches.
Xiao Li snapped out of her daze and said, “Thank you, Young Master Tang. I will work hard.”
“Hehe, it’s nothing. You can go out now,” Tang Chen said to Xiao Li. Xiao Li, still in a daze, walked out and closed the door.
Tang Chen sat in his chair and said to Boss Pang, “Old Pang, don’t be too nervous. Sit down and eat with me.”
Boss Pang scolded himself inwardly for being useless. After all, he had seen big storms and waves—how could he become so timid now? Actually, it wasn’t his fault. Who could act casually in front of a rich person who spent Five Billion in one go?
Manager Pang hummed in acknowledgment and sat down in front of Tang Chen, saying, “Young Master Tang, please try the dishes. They were made by the best chef in our hotel. I supervised him while he cooked, so I guarantee they’re delicious.”
Tang Chen didn’t have high demands for food since he had always eaten instant noodles. He picked up his bowl and chopsticks and started eating. While eating, he casually asked, “By the way, that idiot Young Master Guo I hit today—does his family have a powerful background?”
Boss Pang didn’t dare hide the truth and nodded as he explained, “That’s right. Young Master Guo’s family does have a powerful background. His father works at the City Health Bureau. So those of us in the catering industry usually can’t afford to offend such people. After all, as you know, a distant official is not as effective as a local one.”
Tang Chen curled his lips, put down his bowl, and said arrogantly, “What bullshit City Health Bureau! If that idiot dares to come here again, have the Security Guards throw him out.”
Boss Pang felt excited hearing this. He thought, Young Master Tang is truly Young Master Tang. Only someone even more impressive than Young Master Guo would dare call him “that idiot.”
“But Young Master Tang, won’t that cause trouble? After all, his father is in the Health Bureau. If he gives us a hard time or creates obstacles, we will surely suffer.” Boss Pang couldn’t help but worry. Officials tend to be protective and petty. If Young Master Guo’s father found out his son had been beaten to a pulp, he definitely wouldn’t let it go.
Tang Chen looked at him seriously and said, “Boss Pang, remember this: as my subordinate, you must be bold and arrogant. In this world, only I can show off. No matter who he is—even if he’s from the City Health Bureau or someone even more powerful—if he dares to mess with me, I will still slap his face!”
Boss Pang felt thrilled and said admiringly, “Understood, Young Master Tang. I will not let you down.”
“Haha, that’s more like it,” Tang Chen laughed heartily. The meal was quite enjoyable.
After finishing the meal, Tang Chen and Boss Pang left the private room together. As they walked toward the entrance, a group of waiters said in unison, “Hello, Young Master Tang!” Boss Pang had instructed them beforehand.
Tang Chen nodded with satisfaction and said, “Not bad. Old Pang, give each of them ten thousand. I’ll transfer the money to you later.”
“Yes, Young Master Tang,” Boss Pang replied calmly. After seeing the string of zeros on the bank card, he had gotten used to Young Master Tang’s actions.
