Chapter 47: Tang Chen Got Hurt
Chapter 47: Tang Chen Got Hurt
Tang Chen’s words full of contempt made the members of the Small Knife Society angry. At school, the Small Knife Society was on par with Fang Wenxin’s Zhongmen Society. Although they didn’t have as many members as the Zhongmen Society, they followed an elite path. Their recruitment requirements were very strict, even harder than finding a job in a talent market.
Therefore, people in the Small Knife Society were either good fighters or had sharp minds. They always regarded the Small Knife Society as their belief. Hearing Tang Chen say things like “what is the Small Knife Society,” they couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Fuck your mother, say that again!”
“Damn it, Da Zhuang, don’t hold me back, I’m going to beat this bastard to death!”
“Xiao Li, you go first, show us how it’s done!”
“Stop arguing!” Hu Weidong frowned with displeasure, said coldly, and then added, “All of you, get lost. I have something to say to Brother Tang. This isn’t a gang gathering; I don’t need your protection.”
“Yes, Boss.” The Small Knife Society members respected Hu Weidong’s words deeply. Since their boss had spoken, they each glared at Tang Chen before dispersing. Some went to their classes to kill time, while others went out to pick up girls.
As for Yu Zeyuan, he didn’t leave. He was the best fighter around Hu Weidong and acted as his personal bodyguard. So, wherever Hu Weidong went, Yu Zeyuan was there too.
Hu Weidong smiled at Tang Chen and then continued, “Sorry, Brother Tang, my subordinates are a bit unruly. Don’t take it to heart.”
Tang Chen didn’t know what this guy was scheming, but he didn’t care about any of that. He sneered at Hu Weidong and said, “You should train your own dogs properly. Also, don’t call me ‘brother.’ You’re not worthy of addressing this Young Master.”
In the whole school, probably only Tang Chen dared to speak to Hu Weidong like that. After all, Hu Weidong was the boss of a gang, and other students usually feared him at school. But Tang Chen didn’t see it that way. Was being a gang boss so great? Fang Wenxin was also the boss of the Zhongmen Society, and in the end, he still obediently called him Young Master Tang.
“Watch your mouth! If you speak to my boss like that again, I’ll cripple you!” Yu Zeyuan was Hu Weidong’s most loyal follower, so he couldn’t stand anyone disrespecting his boss.
“Oh, look, Hu Weidong, your dog is about to bite again. This Young Master is so scared.” Tang Chen grinned mockingly, completely ignoring Yu Zeyuan’s threat.
“Zeyuan, shut up!” Hu Weidong scolded Yu Zeyuan coldly, then said to Tang Chen, “Tang Chen, I know you’ve made a name for yourself in school, which is why I came to you. I’m here to show you a better path.”
“A better path? What better path?” Tang Chen frowned impatiently. This guy was as annoying as gum; couldn’t he see that this Young Master was busy?
Hu Weidong smiled, not bothered by Tang Chen’s attitude, and said, “I know you’re connected to Fang Wenxin from the Zhongmen Society, but I want to tell you that the Zhongmen Society isn’t on the same level as our Small Knife Society. So, I want to invite you to join our Small Knife Society. Listen carefully—it’s an invitation. Not many people in the whole school receive an invitation from me.”
Hu Weidong’s words were full of pride, as if it were a great honor for Tang Chen to receive his invitation. However, Tang Chen just curled his lips disdainfully. What a self-righteous idiot, strutting around school with a bunch of kids, acting like he’s so impressive. This Young Master is awesome, and I haven’t even started a gang, okay?
“You want me to join your so-called Small Knife Society? What can you offer me? Make me the boss?” Tang Chen was pragmatic. If you want to win me over, state your terms directly.
Hu Weidong’s mouth twitched, and he said, “Being the boss is impossible because I founded the Small Knife Society, so I’m the boss. But I think highly of you. If you’re willing to join us, I can make you a vice-boss, and you’ll manage many brothers in the society.”
Tang Chen was silent for a moment, then spoke calmly, “Hu Weidong, are you an idiot?”
A chilling wind seemed to blow through Hu Weidong’s heart. He stood there dumbfounded, thinking he had misheard. What did this guy say? He called him an idiot? Fuck your mother, since when are idiots this handsome?
“Tang Chen, I appreciate you, but I still hope you watch your words!” Hu Weidong’s tone was threatening. The veins on his neck bulged, and his fists were tightly clenched. He squeezed the words out through gritted teeth.
Tang Chen was a provocateur; he loved making people angry and then watching them unable to do anything about it.
“It seems you’re not just an idiot, but also deaf. What did you just say to me? You want me to be some fucking vice-boss in your crappy Small Knife Society? Let me tell you, not even if you offered me your position as boss would I want it! Since you know I’m connected to Fang Wenxin, you must know that Fang Wenxin is my lackey, right? I’m not bragging, but if I wanted to be a boss, I’d just take over Fang Wenxin’s position. Why would I go to your place to be a vice-boss? Someone as awesome as me doesn’t suit the word ‘vice.'” Tang Chen’s words were full of arrogance. He really thought Hu Weidong was an idiot. Regardless of whether he wanted to join any school gangs, if he did join, he’d only be the boss. What did offering him a vice-boss position mean? Were you messing with him?
Hu Weidong was stunned by Tang Chen’s words. After a few seconds, he finally got angry. The temperature around him seemed to drop several degrees as he said coldly, “Tang Chen, I saw that you had some skills, so I wanted to bring you into our Small Knife Society. But you insulted me. Don’t be ungrateful when I’m being polite.”
Tang Chen shrugged, looking at him as if he were a fool, and said, “You really are a moron. I’ve insulted you like this, and you still won’t hit me. Come on, hit me!”
Tang Chen was such a jerk; even Author Jun couldn’t stand watching. How could anyone be so annoying? Who tells someone to hit them?
“Fuck your mother!” Hu Weidong didn’t react, but Yu Zeyuan beside him finally couldn’t take it anymore. A powerful aura burst from his body, and he charged at Tang Chen like an arrow shot from a bow.
“Zeyuan, no!” As if remembering something, Hu Weidong’s expression changed, and he shouted anxiously. But it was too late; Yu Zeyuan was too fast!
In seconds, Yu Zeyuan’s fist was right in front of him. Tang Chen sensed a murderous intent—it felt like a call from hell, to put it mysteriously. His legs trembled nervously, and he couldn’t even move!
Almost there—Yu Zeyuan’s fist was about to smash hard into Tang Chen’s head!
“Ding! The Host’s body is under immense threat; there may be life danger at any moment!”
“Ding! The opponent’s attack value has exceeded the System’s calculation. Automatically activating the System’s protection device!”
The System’s voice sounded a bit tense, as if it hadn’t expected the Host to face such danger. After the prompt, a blue halo spread around Tang Chen’s body, wrapping him invisibly, as if he were cocooned in an unseen shell.
Bang!
Yu Zeyuan’s punch landed on the protection device around Tang Chen’s body. But then, veins bulged on his forehead, and with a loud roar, his fist broke through the protection device and smashed into Tang Chen’s chest.
Pfft!
Tang Chen spat a mouthful of blood into the air, then his body flew back several meters, hitting the basketball hoop post. His head drooped, his eyes rolled back, and he clearly passed out. At the same time, Yu Zeyuan’s body came to a stop. With a pop, deep footprints appeared in the cement under his feet!
“Zeyuan!” Hu Weidong called out and ran over, supporting the sweat-drenched Yu Zeyuan. He said with some reproach, “Didn’t I tell you long ago not to casually tap into that hidden power? Why won’t you listen?”
Yu Zeyuan panted heavily and said, “Boss, I just couldn’t stand him insulting you.”
Hu Weidong sighed. To put it plainly, this subordinate of his was a bit blindly loyal, but that was good—it made him easier to control.
He glanced at Tang Chen lying under the basketball hoop and muttered, “Kid, I hope you don’t die. Remember, this is a lesson for you!” Then, he supported the limping Yu Zeyuan as they left.
After Hu Weidong and the other left, a prompt slowly sounded in Tang Chen’s mind: “Ding! The Host’s body is severely injured. The System is activating treatment mode.”
“Ding! The System is beginning treatment. Temporarily taking control of the Host’s body.”
After the prompt, a blue light flashed in Tang Chen’s eyes, and the corner of his mouth curled up, radiating a sinister aura.
