Chapter 4: Call Me Young Master Tang
Chapter 4: Call Me Young Master Tang
Tang Chen’s words completely stunned everyone present. Manager Yu froze for a moment, then burst out laughing. “Kid,” he scoffed, “you’re acting way too cool! Look at you, a poor loser! Where would you even get One Billion? Hahaha! Such a poser!”
Tang Chen couldn’t be bothered with an idiot like that. He turned his gaze back to Boss Pang and asked, “Well? Too little then? Two Billion!”
Words failed Boss Pang as he tried to describe his feelings. Is this guy crazy? Unlike Manager Yu, he prided himself on reading people. This kid, though young, radiated a kind of ‘born-to-rule’ arrogance. Was he some hidden big shot?
“Young Brother,” Boss Pang finally managed, “are you sure you’re not joking with me?”
“Do I look like someone with so much spare time? You’re not even a beautiful woman, why the hell would I joke with you?” Tang Chen let out a disdainful snort, feeling irritated. This Boss Pang doesn’t seem to know a good thing when he sees it. With this Loser-Boss System, money’s just numbers to me now. Throwing out Five Billion at a timewasting jerk like this manager is practically an honor. “Too little, eh? Five Billion! So, selling or not?”
The surrounding guests were utterly frozen. They weren’t strangers to wealthy people; anyone eating at Junyue was a rich guy worth tens of millions. But they’d never seen anyone haggle like this, upping the price by billions. Just how rich is he? Did his family money fall out of the sky?
Adding Thirty Billion like that? Even big bosses like them felt their eyes turning green with envy. They were also mad at Boss Pang. What are you waiting for? It’s Five Billion! That junk pile place of yours isn’t worth half that!
Boss Pang was practically numbed by Tang Chen’s constant price jumping. His Junyue looked luxurious, but even with the land and the building, it was barely worth Over Five Billion. Sure, the yearly income was decent, but compared to an offer of Five Billion? Pocket change! And someone willing to throw out Five Billion without blinking? He just doesn’t care about that kind of money. Where on earth does this kid come from?
Boss Pang started seriously considering Tang Chen’s background. If he’s the offspring of some Jingdu powerhouse family, messing with him would be a fatal mistake. Young Master Guo’s family is rich, but next to the second sons of those mega-clans? He wouldn’t even be worth mentioning. If I don’t agree now and somehow offend this guy… I might take the money, but I might not live to spend it.
“I sell! I sell it!” Boss Pang said quickly, afraid Tang Chen would get angry. The sheer audacity and arrogance screamed don’t doubt this guy can produce Five Billion.
“What? Boss, you actually believe this idiot?!” Manager Yu exclaimed, baffled. What’s gotten into his boss? Where was his usual penny-pinching caution? How could he trust some lunatic?
“You shut up!” Boss Pang glared at Manager Yu, the angrier he looked. It’s all because you judge people by their clothes! If we really offended someone huge, you won’t know what hit you!
Tang Chen smiled faintly. “Give me your bank card number.”
Boss Pang wasn’t sure why, but he obediently recited the number without protest.
Tang Chen made an exaggerated show of pulling out his mobile phone and dialing a number. “Got a bank number here,” he said casually. “Transfer Five Billion over. Now.” His tone was utterly flat, like discussing the most mundane chore.
He wasn’t actually calling anyone. Instead, he spoke to the System in his mind: System, transfer Five Billion to him.
“Respected Host,” the System responded with a hint of admiration, “gotta say, your skill at acting boss is getting pretty high. You’ve got real potential to become the ultimate Big Shot.”
Tang Chen ignored the System. A small worry surfaced: What if the System doesn’t actually have the money? I’ve gone and acted all boss, but if it screws up, this is gonna backfire spectacularly.
Tang Chen’s calm, offhand order sounded utterly unreal to everyone else. They leaned in, waiting, determined not to leave until they saw if this was real or a joke.
Boss Pang’s mind was completely scrambled. What kind of transaction is this? Even if you want to buy my place, shouldn’t we draw up the transfer contracts first? Shoveling money over like this? It’s not how deals are done!
Just then, Boss Pang’s phone buzzed. His expression tightened. He pulled it out and saw the new message on the screen.
Seeing Boss Pang’s look of utter shock, Tang Chen knew the System had sent the money. He breathed a sigh of relief inside. “Got it?” he asked coolly.
“Got it! Got it!” Boss Pang swallowed hard. “Please wait! I’ll get the transfer documents drafted immediately.” It’s really there. Just like that, Five Billion exploded into my account? Am I dreaming?
The onlookers stared, dumbfounded. Clearly, Boss Pang really got the money. That meant this impossibly young guy genuinely just bought Junyue for Five Billion?
“No rush,” Tang Chen waved a dismissive hand. “It’s just a useless scrap of paper to me.” His tone was calm, but to everyone else, it sounded insane. A scrap of paper? Calling a Five Billion transfer contract a scrap of paper? He must be the only person in the world who could say that.
“Y-yes! Exactly! This hotel is yours from now on!” Boss Pang quickly nodded and bowed, feeling a surge of relief at his earlier decision. This young master is the real deal! Moving Five Billion with one call? What kind of wealth is that? Unimaginable.
“Boss, this jerk’s not tricking you, is he?” the ever-hopeful Manager Yu piped up again. “Did he really just buy the place?!”
SLAP!
Tang Chen didn’t move. It was Boss Pang who struck, slapping Manager Yu hard across the face. “I said SHUT UP!” Boss Pang roared. “This is Junyue’s new boss! Mind how you speak!”
Tang Chen nodded in approval, patting Boss Pang’s shoulder. “You did good, Boss Pang. Keep managing this place.”
Boss Pang was both flattered and overwhelmed. Not only did he buy the hotel, he’s letting him stay on to run it? “Yes, Boss! I’ll manage Junyue with all my heart from now on!”
Tang Chen grunted, then shifted his gaze back to Manager Yu. “Idiot. Still want to kick me out now?”
Manager Yu, stunned by the slap from his own boss, felt his face burn as Tang Chen’s words landed. His own earlier taunts were like slaps coming right back. This is humiliation. His face really had been burned.
“You win. I quit!” Seeing the situation clearly, Manager Yu decided. If the guy bought the whole place just to eat a meal here, staying meant endless trouble. Best he just got out.
“Quitting?” Tang Chen let out a cold chuckle. “Smart move. Relax, I’m not small-minded. Sure, you insulted me today, but your lowly trash is beneath my notice. Quit if you want. But from now on, wherever you dare to get a job at another hotel? I’ll buy that hotel too. You’ll still be under me. So? Your Young Master Tang treats his people well, doesn’t he?”
Manager Yu felt like coughing up blood. It was basically an open declaration to ruin his life! He might not believe it from anyone else, but having witnessed the guy impulsively buy Junyue in a rage? He didn’t dare dismiss this.
“I’m not finished with you!” Manager Yu threw out the threat, then scuttled away like a beaten dog.
Arrogant and domineering. That became everyone’s next impression of Tang Chen.
“Trash.” Tang Chen curled his lip dismissively. He wouldn’t waste thoughts on such a low-life’s threats. He turned to Boss Pang. “Old Pang. Find someone to remove those two dead dogs sprawled at the entrance. They’re messing with the customers’ appetites. Also, fire all the security guards. Next time, I don’t want to see any snobbish jerks gatekeeping at Junyue.”
“Yes, Boss!” Tang Chen’s words were orders. Boss Pang had to obey.
Tang Chen frowned slightly. “Don’t call me ‘Boss’. Sounds weird. Call me Young Master Tang.”
“Yes, Young Master Tang! I’ll definitely obey your instructions!” Boss Pang hurriedly corrected, eager not to displease him.
Tang Chen nodded. His gaze swept over the guests still loitering at the entrance, watching the show. “Alright, show’s over. Time to eat, time to drink. This Young Master Tang is paying for everyone’s meal today. Old Pang, get me a private room. Bring out food. I’m starving.”
“Yes, Young Master Tang.”
“Thank you Young Master Tang for the treat!”
“So generous taking over Junyue for the first time, Young Master Tang! Wishing you boundless prosperity!”
These guests had just witnessed Young Master Tang’s wealth firsthand. Hearing the offer of a free meal naturally brought a flurry of flattering praise.
Tang Chen accepted the admiration easily, whistling a little tune as he strolled into Junyue. Looks like life won’t be boring anymore.
