Tang Chen felt his eardrums were about to burst. Seeing Wang Baobao’s distressed expression, he decided to stop teasing her. “Alright, hang on. I’ll find a discreet spot to stop. We don’t want anyone peeping in broad daylight.”

After rounding a bend, Tang Chen drove the car onto a small country road. He spotted a dense cornfield by the roadside and stopped the car. “We can stop here. No one passes by, and it’s quiet.”

Tang Chen’s face darkened. He said dismissively, “Instead of wasting time threatening me, you should hurry up and take care of your business. Don’t go too far, or you might get lost.”
“Jerk!” Wang Baobao stomped her foot and cursed. Probably too desperate, she turned and ran into the cornfield, quickly disappearing from Tang Chen’s sight.
Tang Chen chuckled to himself, finding the little girl more and more amusing. Nanyang Village? Tang Chen rolled down his window and said apologetically, “Sorry, I’m just parked here waiting for someone. I haven’t heard of that village you mentioned.”
“Oh, I see. Thank you. Go die!” The man smiled and finished the first half of his sentence, then his expression suddenly turned fierce. With a savage roar, he pulled out a Handgun and fired a shot at Tang Chen’s head.
“Damn it!” Tang Chen reacted swiftly, ducking down immediately. The bullet hit the rear window with a bang but was blocked by the bulletproof glass.
The man was stunned, perhaps not expecting Tang Chen to be so agile. Before he could fire another shot, Tang Chen shoved the car door open, crouched low, and rushed out. He punched the man in the face, forcefully wrested the Handgun from his grip, and yanked him out of the vehicle.

The man was thrown roughly to the ground by Tang Chen. Tang Chen jumped up and kicked him hard in the face, sending him tumbling several times on the ground. The man whimpered in pain.
“Speak! Who are you? Why are you trying to kill me?” Tang Chen snapped the Handgun in his hands with brute force and tossed the twisted scrap metal onto the ground. He glared at the man with a murderous aura.
“Shut up! Die!” The man was a ruthless character too. He pulled a Dagger from his boot and lunged at Tang Chen.
“Foolhardy!” Tang Chen wasn’t afraid of a mere Dagger. His right hand directly caught the blade. While the man stared wide-eyed, Tang Chen broke the Dagger in two. He then kicked the man in the ribs, spun around, and delivered an elbow strike to his chin. With a sickening crunch, several of the man’s teeth flew out of his mouth. The idiot collapsed to the ground again.
“Daring to use a blade against Young Master? You’re seeking death!” Tang Chen stomped on the man’s hand, then unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks. He lifted the man’s entire body and slammed him against the Extravagant Battle Car. “Tell me! Who sent you to kill me!”
“Hahahaha!” The man burst into loud laughter, shouting, “One maple leaf flutters, a hundred Hongmen blades shine! Where the blade sees blood, above hangs Lord Guan’s blade!”
Whoosh!
As soon as the man finished speaking these words, Tang Chen heard a sharp whistling sound from behind him. He instinctively rolled on the ground. He heard a thud. Looking up, he saw the laughing man was already dead. A steel arrow was lodged in his throat, piercing through it and pinning his body firmly against the car.
“Who’s there!” Tang Chen flipped to his feet and shouted at his surroundings, but found no one. Only then did he notice a note attached to the arrow that killed the man. He walked over, took the note, and read the words written on it: “Offend our Hongmen, and death is certain. Your person has been taken by us. If you want to save her, we’ll see if you have the capability!”
My person? Tang Chen was momentarily confused, then instantly understood. He swore loudly, “Damn it!” and rushed into the cornfield. He called Wang Baobao’s name several times, but there was no response.
