Chapter 240: The Sharp Sword Team: A Show of Force!

“Damn, why do people from the big-nose country all look like livestock, so tall.” Tang Chen stood at the street corner, watching the Americans pass by, and couldn’t help shaking his head as he muttered. Chinese people are much better—refined and cute, not like these big-noses who all look like Optimus Prime.

This was Washington, the capital center of the United States. It was the second most prosperous city in the U.S. after New York.

Tang Chen casually glanced at the traffic around him, then walked to a phone booth, bought a bottle of water to drink, and took out his mobile phone to call the Special Operations Bureau agents here.

Just last night when he was about to leave, he had asked the old man for the phone numbers of those Special Operations Bureau guys. The reason he came to Washington was to meet up with them.

The call connected, and after a moment of silence, a woman’s voice came through: “Hello, who is this?”

The woman spoke in English. Tang Chen frowned, knowing they were being cautious, but he didn’t say much. He just replied, “I am Tang Chen. I’m at Times Square. Come pick me up now.” After saying that, he hung up directly.

About half an hour later, a red sports car stopped in front of Tang Chen. A provocatively dressed woman got out of the car. She was about 1.7 meters tall, wearing patent leather high heels, with fiery red hair and exquisite, seductive makeup.

“Handsome, where to? Need a ride?” The woman giggled flirtatiously, stepping closer and teasingly lifting Tang Chen’s chin with her finger.

Tang Chen curled his lip, not even looking at her, and got into the car. The woman laughed softly, tossed her hair, and drove off.

In the car, Tang Chen coldly said to the woman, “What, are Special Operations Bureau agents so rich now? They even drive sports cars on missions abroad?”

The woman showed no surprise, just smiled and said, “How did you know my identity?”

Tang Chen twitched his lips and said confidently, “Do you think I’m stupid? I talked to you on the phone, so of course I recognized your voice. Most importantly, your eyes are clearly very alert, yet you pretend to be flirty. If you weren’t the agent here to pick me up, then you must be an assassin sent to kill me. The big-noses aren’t that well-informed, otherwise I would have thrown you out already.”

A glint flashed in the woman’s eyes, and she laughed, pulling off her wig to reveal short black hair, looking very capable.

“If you couldn’t even figure that out, likewise, I would have taken you out already. Hello, I am Yuanyang. I know you are Tang Chen.”

Tang Chen chuckled. He knew he had guessed right and sneered, “That’s more like it. I really don’t like it when people I deal with hide their true selves. By the way, are you the leader of the agents here?”

Yuanyang didn’t mind Tang Chen’s attitude and nodded, then said, “The higher-ups probably didn’t tell you. Let me give you a brief introduction. Our agent team is called the Sharp Sword Team. There are five of us in total. Besides me, the other four are Black Fox, Mantis, Anaconda, and Ape. Of course, these are just code names. You’ll meet them soon. We arrived here a month ago. Our mission is to find Wang Jianfeng’s residence, then kill him and retrieve the data. I assume your goal is the same as ours, right?”

Tang Chen grunted in agreement and said, “I was sent here by direct orders from above to assist you and complete the mission together. Such traitors must not be spared; they must be eliminated! I heard from above that you’ve been here for so long without any progress. Is that true?”

Yuanyang gave a bitter smile and said, “Well, let’s talk about that when we get to our base.”

The red sports car drove all the way to the slum area. In a big city like Washington, besides the wealthy and expensive land, there are mostly these poor people.

Yuanyang parked the car and walked with Tang Chen, explaining as they went: “The FBI may be investigating strictly, but they’d never expect our base to be in the slums. The terrain here is our best cover. We’re here, just ahead.”

As they spoke, they reached a dilapidated factory building. Yuanyang looked around, pushed the door open, and went inside. The factory was large. Yuanyang led Tang Chen to a sewer entrance, lifted the manhole cover, and said to Tang Chen, “Jump down!”

Tang Chen really wanted to complain—damn, this is getting more and more like a spy drama, even with secret passages. It’s the 21st century already! And this is the Special Operations Bureau? Can’t they come up with something more high-end?

Splash!

The two of them jumped down together. Then a man’s voice came: “Captain, you’re back!”

Tang Chen looked toward the sound and saw footsteps coming from the darkness. Then the lights turned on, bright as day. Tang Chen saw four men walking over with smiles.

All four were wearing black tight-fitting tank tops, each tall and burly. Though they smiled as they looked at Tang Chen, there was a hint of unnoticed hostility in their eyes.

On the table were various gun parts, and computers were placed around. It seemed these guys worked here all day, hiding like rats.

“Okay, Tang Chen, let me introduce you. These are the members of our Sharp Sword Team I mentioned earlier. This tall guy is Ape. The other three are Black Fox, Anaconda, and Mantis. You three, come over too. This is Tang Chen from back home; you could say he’s a special envoy.” As soon as Yuanyang entered, she took off her high heels and introduced them barefoot.

Tang Chen smiled slightly to acknowledge the four. He noticed their code names matched their looks. For example, this Ape guy looked like a gorilla.

The four also smiled. A flash of malice crossed Ape’s eyes as he stepped forward, extended his hand, and said, “So you’re Tang Chen, the one the higher-ups sent to help us. We’re all elite agents of the Special Operations Bureau. Where do you work?”

Tang Chen didn’t like this guy; he seemed unfriendly. But he still reached out and shook hands, saying, “I’m still a student.”

“Oh, oh, still a student?” Ape exclaimed exaggeratedly, then said bluntly, “I really don’t know what the higher-ups were thinking, sending a student to help us. We’re all elites here. Having one more person like you—I don’t know if it’s help or a burden!” As he finished, his face turned cold, and he tightened his grip.

Tang Chen narrowed his eyes. This guy’s words clearly showed he looked down on him. Looking at the other three, they also had expressions of disdain and amusement. Was this a show of force?

Tang Chen sneered, unaffected by Ape’s increased pressure, and said coldly, “No choice. Who asked you so-called elites to be a bunch of useless good-for-nothings! I’m also curious—you’ve been here for over a month without any progress. What, now you want to bully me because I’m a student? Damn it, a bunch of trash! You can’t even find one person and still have the nerve to call yourselves elites. I think the Special Operations Bureau should just shut down!”

“Kid, what did you say? You’re looking for death!” Ape and the others were furious. They were already frustrated by their lack of achievements, and Tang Chen’s words felt like a slap in the face.

“I said you so-called elites are all trash!” As he spoke, Tang Chen yanked his hand back.

“Screw you!” Ape angrily shouted and threw a punch at Tang Chen’s face. The punch carried full force, enough to break stone!

“Ape, stop!” Yuanyang cried out. Tang Chen’s words were harsh, but he was still one of them. What if he got hurt?

“Trash!”

Thud!

Tang Chen moved swiftly, dodging Ape’s attack, then punched him hard in the stomach. He followed with an elbow strike under Ape’s chin. Several of Ape’s teeth flew out, and his body crashed heavily to the ground.
