Chapter 227: Killing You Would Be Easier Than Blinking!
Tang Chen’s voice wasn’t loud, but it carried a bone-chilling sharpness. His eyes glinted like knives as he stared at the Old Bitch, making her shiver uncontrollably.
“What… what do you want? Do you have a death wish, you pretty boy?! I will beat this little slut! If you dare cause more trouble, I’ll have you shot!” The Old Bitch’s arm had been twisted by Tang Chen. Tears streamed down from the pain, yet she foolishly threatened him.
“Police Sister,” Tang Chen began, as if asking calmly, “this bitch bullied you when you were little, right? So you wouldn’t mind if I killed her?” The moment he finished speaking, he viciously kicked the Old Bitch square in the stomach. Bang! She spat out a mouthful of blood, let out a pained cry, then crumpled to her knees as her legs gave out.
“Don’t kill her, Tang Chen! We came to find my mom! Don’t harm innocent people!” Liu Yanran, startled by the murderous aura radiating from Tang Chen, snapped out of her shock and rushed over to grab him, stopping him from ending the Old Bitch’s life.
Before Tang Chen could respond, a furious shout erupted behind him: “Stop right there!” He smirked. The main event had finally arrived!
Liu Yanran turned with Tang Chen, pain twisting her face. A military off-road vehicle—one with a troop-carrying compartment—pulled into the gateway. The rear compartment opened first, and over twenty soldiers armed with machine guns poured out. Then the passenger door swung open, revealing a foot clad in a black leather shoe.
The man stepped outside. He was in his fifties, graying at the temples, with stern, imposing features. Dressed in a gray Zhongshan suit, he stood quietly, yet radiated the unmistakable pressure of authority.
He was Liu Tianze. Liu Yanran’s father!
“Protect the Party Secretary!” a soldier barked. Immediately, the twenty men fanned out around Liu Tianze, their guns trained intently on Tang Chen and Liu Yanran.
Liu Tianze met Liu Yanran’s furious gaze, his voice low and accusing. “Yanran. You’ve disappointed me. Bringing intruders into my home—do you realize what you’re doing?”
Liu Tianze was furious. He’d been dining with colleagues when he received the call: his operatives tailing Liu Yanran were all taken down by some unknown kid. That same kid was now storming his home!
In all of China today, who would dare attack his residence? Was this boy declaring war on the entire nation?
Without hesitation, he’d raced home with his men. He’d see for himself how his ungrateful daughter thought she could defy him now!
A bitter smile touched Liu Yanran’s lips, heartache twisting inside. She hated Liu Tianze, but he was still her father. Was this their reunion? Years apart, and this was his first sentence?
“My Lord, save me… I’m dying!” The Old Bitch gasped. Barely clinging to life, the sight of Liu Tianze ignited a spark of hope.
Liu Tianze’s face hardened. He barked at Tang Chen, “Young man, release my wife now! I might go easy on you today. Otherwise, you’re all headed for a court-martial!”
“Are you commanding me?” Tang Chen eyed Liu Tianze’s domineering posture coldly. “Liu Tianze, who do you think you are? You dare give orders to this Young Master? Think guns make you powerful? These nobodies you brought? They’re nothing but garbage in my eyes!” With that, Tang Chen flung the Old Bitch’s limp body straight at Liu Tianze and his soldiers.
“Don’t shoot! Don’t hit Madame!” The soldiers hesitated, terrified of accidentally wounding Liu Tianze’s wife. She’d make their lives hell for any mistake.
Thud! Thump!
The Old Bitch crashed into a group of soldiers. Suddenly—a blur of movement! Whoosh! A gust of wind swept past as Tang Chen zipped between them. He seized Liu Tianze’s collar and smashed a fist into his face.
Crunch!
Liu Tianze coughed blood, teeth flying. Tang Chen yanked his hair back, snarling into his face. “I told you. They’re trash. Killing you? Easier than blinking!”
“Release the Party Secretary!”
Soldiers scrambled to their feet, ignoring the Old Bitch as they quickly surrounded Tang Chen. If he made a move to kill, their guns would riddle him instantly!
“Go ahead,” Liu Tianze spat, blood trickling from his mouth. “Do it. Kill me. But you’ll never leave Jingdu alive. I’ve lived too long, seen too much. You think death scares me?”
He was still the Party Secretary. He’d fought through decades of political storms, betrayals, assassinations. If some punk could intimidate him, his title would be worthless.
Tang Chen ignored the guns trained on him. He looked firmly at Liu Yanran. “Police Sister, I’ll only listen to you. Tell me. Do you want him dead? Or alive?”
Liu Yanran bit her lip, conflicted. Then she glared at her father. “Liu Tianze! Tell me! Where is my mother?!”
Liu Tianze laughed, a sound full of bitter disappointment. “Liu Yanran, I regret it! I regret letting your mother give birth to you! This is how you treat your father? Bring invaders into my home? Try to murder? Take me hostage? You disappoint me! You didn’t want the arranged marriage? We could have talked! But this?” His face twisted. “Today, none of you will make it out!”
“Ha.” Tears finally spilled down Liu Yanran’s face, but her eyes held no softness. Only heartbreak. Was this truly her father? She’d actually hoped, until that very second, that he’d hand over her mother. “Liu Yanran… you fool,” she whispered to herself.
“Father.” Her voice was cold, sharper than ice. “This is the first time I’ve called you that. And the last! You’re right. You regret I was born. Well, I regret being your daughter! Did you ever uphold a father’s duty? Did you ever care for me or Mom? No! Never! What did you do? Let your precious son and wife insult me? Beat my mother?! They told us to die, you know! When I needed a father most—where were you? Now you talk about filial duty?! Isn’t that laughable?! Use me when convenient, discard me otherwise? Am I trash to the Liu family?! Give me my mother back! Then I’ll act as if I never had a father! Or I swear, I’ll never look at your face again in this lifetime!”
Years of pent-up frustration exploded. Tang Chen’s heart clenched. He’d always seen Police Sister as fierce, almost brutal. But now he saw the truth buried beneath—a girl who’d endured endless pain.
How did she even survive carrying such a weight?
The realization fueled his hatred for Liu Tianze. Tang Chen squeezed Liu Tianze’s throat tighter, teeth bared. “Liu Tianze! If Yanran didn’t share your damned surname, you’d already be dead! This is your LAST chance! Tell Sister Yanran! Where is Auntie?! Speak! I might make you a vegetable! Stay quiet? Prepare to be worse off than a vegetable!”
Tang Chen was beyond fury now. Screw Liu Tianze! Screw his status! They could all rot!
The System spoke gently. “Esteemed Host… perhaps calm down? Why wreck yourself over trash like him?”
It rarely withheld warnings. But it understood. Right now, its Host resembled those in Berserk Mode. Unreachable.
Veins bulged on Liu Tianze’s forehead. He choked, struggling for air. He opened his mouth—
THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP!
A deafening roar filled the sky as four armed military helicopters thundered overhead!
