Chapter 2: Smashing You with Five Hundred Thousand Yuan
Chapter 2: Smashing You with Five Hundred Thousand Yuan
The Fat Woman was so shocked by Tang Chen’s actions that she couldn’t say a word at all. In her mind, she thought: Did this guy rob a bank? Why did he suddenly have this much money?
Tang Chen weighed the money in both hands; this was the first time in his life he had held such a huge sum. Watching The Fat Woman’s shocked look, he felt a surge of inner joy. Weren’t you calling me a poor loser? I’ll make you see what a true loser’s big comeback looks like!
“The Fat Woman, didn’t you say I couldn’t afford your rent? I’ll give it to you now!” Tang Chen sneered; he felt utterly thrilled inside.
The Fat Woman put on a fake smile, and greedy for money, she was about to say something when Tang Chen directly threw the money in his hands at her face.
Slap!
What a crisp sound it made! The Fat Woman was just about to yell when her vision blurred, and fifty stacks of cash crashed down on her face like an avalanche—bang, smash!
“I’ll show you who’s looking down on me, I’ll show you what happens when you call me a poor loser, I’ll show you who’s broke. Today, I’ll smash you to death with money!” Tang Chen vented his anger by brutally slamming the cash onto The Fat Woman’s face again and again. The Fat Woman didn’t react at all and got knocked out instantly. Her head was hit by the last stack of cash, she felt dizzy, and fainted straight to the ground.
“Pah, damn it, wasting my five hundred thousand yuan to smash you dead, you fat pig.” Tang Chen saw that The Fat Woman had been knocked out, then spat on her face, clenched his fist, and excitedly said: “Damn, who knew smashing someone with money could feel so good? Now, just let me see who dares to call me a loser. Anyone who does it again, I’ll beat ’em to death with money. Ha ha.”
“Ahem, respected Host, though I really don’t want to interrupt, I must remind you: as a man who’s about to become the ultimate rich handsome guy, you need to watch your image.” At this point, the System spoke slowly; it was a bit disdainful of the Host’s poor-man-suddenly-rich attitude.
Tang Chen stopped laughing and said unhappily: “You stupid System, can’t you let me enjoy this moment properly? Anyway, my mission this time is a success, right? If it’s successful, then shouldn’t you give me that little mystery gift as promised?”
The System said: “Respected Host, please rest assured. This System has a lot of integrity; what I promise to give, I’ll definitely give.”
Tang Chen pursed his lips, thinking silently: Integrity! What nonsense, you’re not even human—where’s your integrity?
“Ding, completing the Beginner Task, special award: one little mystery gift package.” The System notification rang, and then Tang Chen felt warmth in his pocket. He suppressed his excitement and slowly reached for it. If it’s a mystery gift from the System, it must be amazing.
Tang Chen pulled his hand out of his pocket to find a small white gift box tied with a blue ribbon. Tang Chen grinned idiotically and said: “I found out I really love mysteries. Open!”
Tang Chen shouted excitedly and opened the box. Then his face went dark right away; his lips twitched as he said: “System, are you messing with me?”
The System said: “Of course not. I’m a System with integrity; I don’t trick the Host.”
“You don’t trick me? Then why in hell are you giving me a steamed bun!” Tang Chen had a stunned look, taking a warm steamed bun out of the box, practically shouting this in despair.
Damn it, I knew this crappy System was bad news. You talk about integrity, but it’s all crap. Where’s the promised mystery gift package? System, you’re just messing with me!
“Uh…” The System seemed to sound awkwardly human-like for a moment, then declared seriously: “I did this for your own good. I know you haven’t eaten, so I specially prepared you a steamed bun that people like. Doesn’t that count as a mystery gift package for you?”
“Hell with that!” Tang Chen almost spat out these words through gritted teeth. Damn, I was so excited waiting for your so-called mystery gift package, and you just gave me a steamed bun. Angrily, he took a bite, and said mockingly to the System: “You rotten System—using a steamed bun as a gift? And you only gave me this one bun? It’s not nearly enough, I’m starving, okay?”
Tang Chen finally saw it: the System was garbage, not worth relying on at all. Anyway, he had money now, so he’d go eat at those fancy restaurants. Thinking this, he threw the half-eaten steamed bun backwards—it happened to hit The Fat Woman’s face, its juice splattering all over her.
Tang Chen walked out to the street and hailed a taxi. After getting in, he said directly to the driver: “Driver, take me to the most famous hotel in this city.”
The driver agreed, then the taxi sped off.
Junyue Grand Hotel was this city’s biggest high-end hotel. Being able to eat here was a sign of status—no exaggeration—a single meal here cost as much as two months’ salary for an average white-collar worker.
Tang Chen passed two hundred yuan to the driver. Looking at the three-story hotel building in front of him, he felt waves of excitement. He had dreamed of eating here before, but the thought of the high cost made him back off; for a loser like him, it had just seemed too far away.
Now it was different—he had money! To celebrate his new beginning, this first meal had to be at the most respectable place.
“Stop! What are you doing here?” As soon as Tang Chen reached the entrance, a Security Guard stopped him; the look on his face was very scornful.
Tang Chen stared as if at an idiot, and said: “This is a hotel; I’m here to eat, of course.”
“Eat? You?” The Security Guard scanned Tang Chen’s outfit—just a plain white shirt and faded jeans. How could a guy like that afford to eat here?
Tang Chen froze, then his face darkened. He knew he was being mocked by this jerk. He said: “Yeah, it’s me. What of it?”
The Security Guard sneered and said: “Kid, don’t blame me for being blunt. This place isn’t for people like you. Go eat at a street food stall; that’s more your style.”
“Damn it, are you looking down on me?” Tang Chen got angry. Damn, back when he was a loser, people always mocked him. Now he was all set to become rich and handsome, but he got mocked again. Did they think he was easy to push around?
The Security Guard snorted, then pat his Stun Baton symbolically at his waist. He said: “Watch your mouth with me. This isn’t a place for poor folks like you. If you don’t leave, I’ll beat you up.” As he spoke, he noticed a Lamborghini parking in front. He glared at Tang Chen, then scurried over to open the car door. He fawned with a smile: “Oh, Young Master Guo, you’re here. Welcome, welcome!”
From the Lamborghini stepped out a man in a suit: slicked-back hair, flat nose, twisted mouth and slanted eyes, his head shiny with hair oil. He had a hot girl draped around his arm.
“Xiao Li, good job. Use this for drinks.” As he talked, he pulled out a few hundred-yuan bills from his pocket and placed them into the Security Guard’s hand.
“Thanks for the reward, Young Master Guo. Please come in.” The Security Guard happily took the money. Damn, rich people’s money was easy—a bit of flattery got him half a month’s pay.
Young Master Guo held his head high, his right hand on the girl’s bottom, then swaggered up the steps. After a sweeping glance at Tang Chen in front of him, he said unhappily: “Who are you? A valet? You don’t look like it.”
Tang Chen was actually amused by this guy. He said: “Valet? Valet my foot! Have you ever seen a valet this handsome?”
Young Master Guo’s face flushed purple with anger. He quickly shouted to the Security Guard behind him: “Xiao Li, what kind of hotel is this? How can there be such ill-mannered people here? Hurry up and get him out!”
The Security Guard answered, then saw it was Tang Chen, the one he’d mocked earlier. He pulled out his Stun Baton and said rudely: “Hear that? Get out now! Since Young Master Guo says you should go, you better go!”
“Oh? Wow, seeing a rich Young Master has got you all excited. You tell me to go? I won’t go!” Tang Chen crossed his arms over his chest. Who do they think they are? If they told him to go, he’d go? That’d be too embarrassing.
“Xiao Li, what kind of hotel even hires people like this!” Young Master Guo yelled angrily at the Security Guard.
The Security Guard explained: “Young Master Guo, this guy isn’t one of ours. He said he came here to eat. Look at that poor loser look on him—how could he afford to come eat?”
“Eat? Ha ha, that’s funny.” Young Master Guo laughed heartily, pointing his finger at Tang Chen, looking down on him completely. He said: “Do you even know what place this is? This is Junyue Grand Hotel! You idiot actually think you can eat here? What, do you think it’s a charity spot? Do you have money for it?”
Tang Chen frowned unhappily. He snorted coldly and said: “Grandson, I’ve already given you some respect. Don’t put on airs in front of me now, or you’ll get what’s coming to you.”
