The waiter was confused by Tang Chen’s question. He glanced at Liu Yanran. She was indeed a stunning beauty. Was Tang Chen asking him to compliment his girlfriend’s looks?
Liu Yanran noticed the waiter’s gaze and remembered what Tang Chen had said to her earlier. She didn’t say anything. Instead, she held Tang Chen’s arm tightly, acting like a delicate, dependent woman. Since he wanted to put on a show, she would play along properly.
The waiter smiled politely and said, “Yes, your girlfriend is quite beautiful. You have excellent taste.”
Tang Chen curled his lip and replied, “What girlfriend? Can’t you tell she’s a beauty I just picked up? Speaking of which, this beauty is drunk right now and probably feeling a bit… eager. The waiter didn’t doubt it. In a bar, encounters like this that led to wild fantasies were common. That wasn’t strange. What was strange was that this guy was openly asking for drugs. He had never seen anyone so brazen about it.
The waiter said cautiously, “Sir, we don’t provide that kind of service here. We don’t sell those things. I think you’ve misunderstood.”
“Misunderstood my ass! Don’t give me that crap, pretending to be something you’re not. Everyone knows your place sells this stuff. Stop wasting my time. Young Master is feeling really uncomfortable down there. Name your price, Young Master wants ten pills.” Tang Chen played the role of a stupid, spoiled rich kid perfectly. He was deliberately masking his true self and trying to lower the other party’s guard.
The waiter got angry. Was this guy an idiot? He had already said they didn’t have any, yet the guy kept cursing at him. And he wanted ten pills? Wasn’t he afraid of overdosing?
“Xiao Wang, what’s going on?” A shirtless man covered in tattoos walked over. He looked fierce and menacing.
The waiter, Xiao Wang, quickly said respectfully, “Brother Hao, this gentleman insists on buying drugs from me. I told him we don’t sell them, but he just won’t believe me.”
The tattooed man was called Hao Ge. He was a thug who watched over the place. After hearing this, he narrowed his eyes, then dismissed Xiao Wang. He said to Tang Chen, “Brother, we don’t sell that stuff here. You should try somewhere else. This is a legitimate bar.”
Tang Chen twitched his mouth in displeasure, then said arrogantly, “You’re called Hao Ge, right? Stop playing dumb with Young Master. Young Master’s father is loaded. All my buddies in my circle say you have drugs here. That’s why I brought my new pickup to try some at your place.”
Hao Ge felt contemptuous inside, clearly thinking Tang Chen was just a spoiled, wasteful rich kid. But he still smiled and said, “Sir, I’m just curious, which young masters are in your circle? If they’re not regulars here, maybe it’s just a rumor.”
Tang Chen was getting impatient. Why was Liu Yanran’s mission so troublesome? If he were doing this task alone, he would have just fought his way in already, to avoid all this annoyance.
After a moment’s thought, Tang Chen casually said, “Will you even know them if Young Master tells you? Like Young Master Ou and them, they’re all my buddies. I say, aren’t you annoying? If they hadn’t recommended your place, why would Young Master come to this dump?”
Tang Chen had made up this “Young Master Ou” on the spot. He didn’t know anyone by that name. But as luck would have it, Hao Ge was stunned when he heard Tang Chen’s words. Then he said very respectfully, “You were referred by Young Master Ou? Why didn’t you say so earlier? We have them, we have them. I’ll take you over right now.”
Tang Chen was floored. He glanced at Liu Yanran and saw she was also looking at him in confusion. Tang Chen never thought his luck would be this good—just randomly mentioning a name turned out to be a real big shot. Now things would be much easier.
“You should’ve said so earlier, wasting Young Master’s time. Hurry up and take me there.” Tang Chen waved his hand grandly, then put his arm around Liu Yanran and followed Hao Ge to a private room.
Once in the room, the two sat on the sofa. Hao Ge bowed and said, “Please wait a moment. I’ll go prepare everything for you.” With that, he turned and left, closing the door behind him.
As soon as Hao Ge was gone, Liu Yanran immediately pushed Tang Chen away and asked cautiously, “Tang Chen, how do you know that Young Master Ou? You’re not in cahoots with these people, are you?”
Tang Chen said discontentedly, “Sister Yanran, that’s not fair. I came here to help cover for you. Otherwise, do you think I’d leave my wife at home instead of… you know, and come here to do some mission with you? How was I supposed to know that a random name I threw out would turn out to be some big shot?”
Liu Yanran said “Oh,” and her doubts vanished instantly. She was just saying it. If she didn’t trust Tang Chen completely, she wouldn’t have told him about this confidential mission.
Five minutes later, Hao Ge opened the door and came back in. Behind him was a middle-aged man who looked to be in his forties, followed by four men who looked like bodyguards.
“Sir, let me introduce you. This is the boss of our Night Charm Bar, Boss Sun. Boss Sun, this is Young Master Ou’s friend.” Hao Ge gave a brief introduction. The reason he had brought Boss Sun over was probably because of that Young Master Ou.
Boss Sun walked up to Tang Chen, extended his hand, and said with a smile, “Hello, I’m Sun San. I heard from Hao Zi that you’re Young Master Ou’s friend?”
Tang Chen lazily lifted his eyelids, not even bothering to shake Boss Sun’s hand. He said lightly, “That’s right. Young Master Ou is my friend. We grew up together like brothers.”
To be fair, Tang Chen’s natural demeanor was perfect for playing such an arrogant, domineering role. His casual remark unconsciously exuded authority, making him seem like someone not to be trifled with.
Boss Sun wasn’t angry. Instead, he nodded and laughed, agreeing, “Oh, I see. Well, I hope you enjoy your time here.”
Boss Sun didn’t detect any flaws, nor was he offended by Tang Chen’s attitude. After all, he figured that a friend of someone as impressive as Young Master Ou should act exactly like this.
Tang Chen nodded slightly and said impatiently, “Why haven’t you brought what I asked for yet? My little darling has been urging me for ages. Young Master is getting really impatient.”
Hao Ge cursed him in his mind as a lust-driven devil. He glanced at Boss Sun, who ordered, “Hao Zi, quickly bring out the purest Ecstasy Pills I asked you to prepare.”
Hao Grunted in agreement, took a small box from his pocket, and handed it to Boss Sun. Boss Sun obsequiously placed it in front of Tang Chen, revealing a set of yellow teeth as he smiled and said, “Young Master, these are the purest Ecstasy Pills from our bar’s stock. Young Master Ou used the same kind when he came here before. Please, try them.”
When Liu Yanran saw Boss Sun’s actions, her eyes turned cold. The evidence was right in front of her. She was eager to reveal her police identity and arrest them. But at that moment, Tang Chen subtly patted her hand, signaling her not to rush.
Tang Chen’s face showed little expression. He picked up the box of Ecstasy Pills. Inside, he saw a white pill—this was the Ecstasy Pill.
Tang Chen smiled, first placing the box of Ecstasy Pills in Liu Yanran’s hand. Then he said to Boss Sun, “Boss Sun, how much stock do you have left in the bar?”
