Chapter 104: Yu Zeyuan Must Die
Chapter 104: Yu Zeyuan Must Die
Tang Chen calmly answered the phone before everyone’s eyes and spoke into it: “Hello, who is this?”
“It’s me, Liu Yanran!” The voice unmistakably belonged to Liu Yanran speaking to him. Tang Chen was puzzled—why did Liu Yanran have his number?
“It’s me. Tang Chen.” He deliberately avoided calling her “Police Sister” as usual, since his wife Yang Mi was present. That’d surely raise suspicion.
“Can you come out? I need to talk. I’ll wait outside your school.” Liu Yanran’s tone was detached, devoid of warmth.
“What? Someone trashed our hotel?” Tang Chen roared, slamming the table as he stood. “Wait for me! Young Master is coming right away!” He hung up, then told Yang Mi: “Something happened at the hotel. I need to handle it.”
Seeing his urgency, Yang Mi didn’t second-guess him. “What’s wrong? I’ll go with you.”
Tang Chen waved dismissively. “Just a minor issue. I can handle it alone. Later!” With that, he walked out, completely ignoring the history teacher’s existence.
Meanwhile, Liu Yanran stared in disbelief. As she waited for Tang Chen’s reply, his sudden shout startled her. More importantly, he fabricated a story about his hotel being destroyed.
Unbelievable! So shameless! She never said his hotel was attacked! That lie left her trembling.
Just as she seethed over Tang Chen’s deceit, someone tapped her car window. Glancing sideways, she saw Tang Chen’s infuriating smirk.
Liu Yanran yanked the door open. “Tang Chen, shouldn’t you be handling your trashed hotel? What’re you doing here?”
Tang Chen casually slid into the passenger seat. “When you’re in this world, you need escape plans. Anyway, what’d you call me for?”
Liu Yanran shot him an icy look. “Do I need a reason?”
Tang Chen studied her for a few seconds. Just before she snapped, he muttered, “Weird… really weird. Police Sister, you’d normally threaten to beat me up. Why so gentle today?”
“Gentle? Shut up!” Liu Yanran snapped, rolling her eyes. “You’re impossible. Complain when I’m harsh, question when I’m nice—do you want a beating?”
Tang Chen shrugged carelessly. Her tough-girl act didn’t faze him; he’d seen her vulnerable side before.
As the car sped ahead in silence, Liu Yanran finally said, “I’m taking you to the police station.”
Tang Chen glared. “Give me one reason, Police Sister. Haven’t robbed banks or hurt anyone. Because I’m handsome? If good looks are a crime, I confess—I’m guilty for life!”
“Narcissist!” Ignoring his shamelessness, Liu Yanran replied gravely, “Someone reported you for murder. They say you killed their young master.”
“Lies!” Tang Chen thundered. “Which coward framed Young Master? I’ll end him!” Who exposed me? When I kill, I leave no evidence!
Liu Yanran stated coolly, “Do you know Yu Zeyuan? Your schoolmate? He filed a report yesterday, claiming you murdered a young master named Hu Weidong.”
Yu Zeyuan? Tang Chen’s eyelid twitched. Wasn’t he a vegetable? How’s he reporting me? And why accuse me? What proof does he have?
Smirking, Tang Chen replied, “Oh, that loser. Yeah, he’s from my school. Holds a grudge and is insane. Blaming me for his boss’s death? Such a cheap way to pin the blame.”
A sharp glint flashed in Liu Yanran’s eyes. “But Yu Zeyuan says you bore Hu Weidong extreme hatred. The moment he died, you sent underlings to seize his gang’s turf. Suspicious, no?”
Tang Chen narrowed his eyes. “Police Sister, doubting me? How hurtful. That night, I even fought three creeps off you… and that soaked shirt…”
“Stop!” Liu Yanran’s face flushed crimson at the memory.
“I’m not probing. We already verified your alibi. Not arresting you.” Her eyes darted away nervously.
“Not arresting? Then… a hotel? Wait—I’ll grab protection.”
Tang Chen felt unsettled. Police Sister’s attitude changed. Once hellbent on jailing me; now letting me go?
“Stop dreaming, idiot! I’d rather die than share a room with you!” Liu Yanran gritted her teeth.
Tang Chen grinned but stayed silent, inwardly commanding: “System! Deal with Yu Zeyuan! Making him a vegetable wasn’t enough… How’d he recover? Modern medicine can’t fix that!”
The System responded: “Distinguished Host, advanced healing is likely at play. Remember: since he practices ancient martial arts, he belongs to a powerful clan.”
“Screw his clan!” Tang Chen hissed mentally. “If he lives, this’ll blow up. Can’t act while tied to Police Sister. Annoying!”
After a pause, the System suggested: “Deploy the Extravagant Battle Car. Its onboard weapons can resolve this.”
“But if I don’t pilot it—”
“Host, you overlook its A.I. capability. Upon ignition, communicate with its virtual assistant, Xiao Mei—remotely execute orders effortlessly.”
Tang Chen’s spirits lifted. “Idiot! Why didn’t I think of that?” Secretly, he retrieved the toy car from his pocket. While Liu Yanran watched the road, he inserted its key.
The car model flew out the window and landed on the street behind them. Kacha kacha! Instantly, it expanded into the colossal Extravagant Battle Car.
