Chapter 415: Energy Points
Chapter 415: Energy Points
Han Sen didn’t know about the situation in the city. After leaving Boss Fang’s house, he firmly locked the temple gate.
He’d converted all his cash into food supplies, planning to stay on the mountain until everything was eaten.
*Thud! Thud! Thud!*
“Open up! Water meter check!”
Han Sen sat in the courtyard cracking melon seeds and drinking cheap liquor. The dancing girl on his phone screen hadn’t even finished her routine when the shouting outside cut through…
“Got mountain well water. Don’t need pipes.”
Han Sen snorted. Did they think such old tricks would work on him?
The visitor outside hesitated. After half a minute, a different voice tried:
“Community welfare delivery!”
“Corpse rotting here. Try next door.”
This time the silence lasted two heartbeats before metallic clanging noises erupted.
*BOOM!*
The wooden gate exploded inward, splinters raining across the yard. The chair flipped over, sending Han Sen sprawling as melon seeds scattered like confetti.
“Should’ve opened when asked!” barked a black-clad figure storming through smoke. Anti-riot police swarmed in, kneeing Han Sen facedown into dirt. Cold silver handcuffs snapped around his wrists. “Book him!”
After confirming no accomplices hid in the temple, the squad marched their captive downhill.
“Must be some mistake, officer,” Han Sen protested, dirt staining his cheek. “Law-abiding citizen here!”
The arresting cop – some rookie with a rich-kid swagger – jabbed his ribs. “Shut it.”
“Not even twitching!” Han Sen wriggled his numb legs. “Sitting so proper my ass went numb!”
“Full name. Age. Special abilities.” The junior officer recited from his handbook.
Captain Zhu’s desperation showed. This Awakened Ones witch hunt used brute-force methods, relying on Special Operations Bureau to handle backlash. Most wouldn’t risk family safety anyway.
“Han Sen. Twenty-three. Single.”
“Abilities: Heaven’s Fortune-telling. Specialty: charm-drawing.”
The pen froze mid-scribble. The cop eyed him suspiciously but recorded it anyway.
After paperwork got shuffled to mysterious departments, they uncuffed Han Sen in detention. Captain Zhu only wanted warm bodies counted, not actual arrests.
Bored stiff, Han Sen nibbled lukewarm police cafeteria rice. His head kept nodding until shouting jolted him awake…
“Who is Han Sen?”
“I am.”
Han Sen replied instinctively.
“Come with me.”
The questioner turned and walked inward. Han Sen rubbed his face to shake off drowsiness before following. After exiting detention, the man led him up two staircases to the top-floor captain’s office. They paused at the door for a soft knock.
“Captain, the subject is here.”
“Come in.”
Captain Zhu’s voice sounded from within.
Facing potential Awakened One provocations, Captain Zhu bore crushing pressure. He hadn’t slept properly for days, evidenced by heavy eye bags and a steaming instant coffee cup on his desk. With daily deaths outside the police bureau, the situation teetered on the edge of spiraling out of control.
No help came from the Special Operations Bureau, forcing Captain Zhu to act alone.
“Your power is innate divination?”
Captain Zhu glanced up from paperwork.
“Correct.”
Han Sen didn’t understand the question’s purpose, but the old Taoist priest had indeed taught him this so-called impressive-sounding technique – though its predictions usually missed the mark.
“You claim this divination can unravel heaven, earth, and five centuries of history?”
Captain Zhu grew more alert. His trained instincts told him the young man wasn’t lying. After busting countless fakes, he’d finally caught a genuine article.
“Er…”
Han Sen’s awkward reply got cut off by a sudden chime.
‘Ding. Energy conversion complete.’
STATUS PANEL
Name: Han Sen
Big Shot Value: 0.1
Strength: 0.7
Spirit: 0.9
Han Sen froze mid-sentence.
The system activated!
“Allocate points to strength!”
Han Sen immediately dumped his 0.1 potential into strength. Though tiny, the boost noticeably enhanced his physique. He felt strong enough to pummel ten past versions of himself.
“The system’s real!”
Confirmation ignited Han Sen’s excitement.
No more being a lazy fish – his era had arrived!
“Focus. Find the energy source.”
Han Sen forced calmness, ignoring Captain Zhu’s puzzled stare. The activated system now showed proper feedback – attempting upgrades triggered “insufficient energy” warnings.
“Earlier message mentioned successful conversion…”
Scrolling through logs, he found the entry. Apparently, recent actions generated convertible energy. Delayed processing caused the time lag.
What had he done? Snacking at the temple? Meeting Boss Fang…
Recalling Boss Fang’s family members, Han Sen’s eyes narrowed.
The mother and daughter? Or…
Pretending to be a High Person?
Ideas began forming.
Truthfully, no energy conversion existed. Zuo Meng’s awakening had simply siphoned traces of chaotic energy from Boss Fang’s wife and daughter into Han Sen. This high-level energy defied human comprehension – they couldn’t handle chaos-spawned monsters, but Zuo Meng manipulated it effortlessly as reality’s architect.
“Taoist priest?”
Captain Zhu’s tone turned respectful, sensing genuine capability.
“Apologies. A divination insight struck me.”
Han Sen cleared his throat.
This High Person act required full commitment now.
