Chapter 5: Searching for Weapons

Hotels usually had their own restaurants that provided a free breakfast for every guest. Since there was a restaurant, there must be a kitchen too. There would surely be many knives there. Now, Xu Feng was unarmed. Even though his strength had reached the One-Star Peak level, fighting the Black Armored Beetles bare-handed would be very difficult.

“The restaurant that serves breakfast is on the first floor.” Xu Feng glanced at the hotel information in the room. After confirming the restaurant’s location, he opened the door and walked toward the stairs.

However, if one encountered a large group of Black Armored Beetles, even a fully armed adult would not be a match for them.

The restaurant only had some cutlery like knives, forks, and chopsticks laid out. Xu Feng took a look and then turned to walk toward the kitchen in the back.

The door leading from the restaurant to the kitchen was locked tightly. Xu Feng kicked it open. The originally sturdy security door flew off as if it were made of paper.

“The strength of an ordinary person at G-grade is about five points, but F-grade strength is around fifteen points. My current physical stats are all at F-grade, reaching the One-Star Peak level. The several hostesses in the hotel lobby were all lying on the ground. A group of Black Armored Beetles surrounded them, continuously tearing at their bodies.

It seemed that these hostesses, seeing the disaster happen, tried to leave the front desk and hide in the guest rooms upstairs. Unfortunately, they were killed by the swarming Black Armored Beetles before they could run far.

For some unknown reason, these Black Armored Beetles did not parasitize them but only surrounded the corpses, devouring their flesh.

Although Xu Feng had experienced scenes like this countless times over ten years and had become numb, seeing the pretty girls he had talked to just half an hour ago now turned into unrecognizable corpses, and even their bodies treated as food, he could not help but feel a raging anger rise in his heart.

A few Black Armored Beetles seemed to notice Xu Feng’s arrival. They stopped fighting with their kind for food and, in unison, looked up and charged toward Xu Feng.

These Black Armored Beetles were all intelligent beings. But having just invaded Earth, they were overwhelmed by the most primitive desire to eat, eagerly wanting to devour fresh flesh. The two or three corpses in front were not enough for so many Black Armored Beetles to share. As soon as they saw a living person, those who couldn’t get any flesh immediately changed their target.

Buzz, buzz, buzz.

Dozens of Black Armored Beetles flapped their wings and rushed at Xu Feng. If this had been in his past life, during the beginning of the apocalypse, Xu Feng would have turned and run without hesitation. But now, with his strength at the One-Star Peak level, killing these Black Armored Beetles that hadn’t even reached One-Star strength was very simple. “Go to hell!” Looking at these Black Armored Beetles with bright red blood still staining their shells, Xu Feng growled and raised the knife to slash at the one charging at the front.

With only slight resistance, the Bone-Cleaver easily split the first Black Armored Beetle in two. Foul, light green blood splattered in all directions.

With a flick of his wrist, Xu Feng swung the Bone-Cleaver upward from below. Although he was using a Short Blade, he unconsciously used sword techniques. In his past life, Xu Feng was accustomed to using swords.

Blades had a single edge and were good for slashing. Swords had double edges and were good for thrusting, slicing, and lifting. Blades emphasized power, while swords emphasized agility. The two weapons had similarities but also their own characteristics.
