Chapter 31: Golden Equipment
Chapter 31: Golden Equipment
Xu Feng swung his sword more than ten times, and finally, the copper lock broke. With a snap, it fell to the ground and gradually vanished.
“It’s open!” Xu Feng sheathed his sword and said softly.
“Wow, so amazing! It really could be smashed open.” Wang Ying widened her eyes, speaking in disbelief.
The world was becoming more and more like a game. Many people fell into the misconception, taking game-like phenomena for granted as common sense, forgetting this was a real world.
“You’re lucky. Open it and see what’s inside. Locked chests like this usually contain good items.” Xu Feng said. He could only admire Wang Ying’s incredible luck.
Wang Ying put her hands together, whispered a few words, rubbed her hands, exhaled into her palms, and solemnly lifted the chest lid.
A faint golden glow slowly spread out as the chest opened.
“G-Golden…” Xu Feng gasped in surprise. A golden chest could actually be found here? In his previous life, Xu Feng had opened at least hundreds of chests in this area, but not only had he never opened a golden one himself, he hadn’t even heard of anyone finding a golden chest at this Resort Lake.
“Quick, see what’s inside.” Xu Feng urged, feeling excited and thrilled himself now.
Wang Ying nodded, took a deep breath, and without even looking, scooped out everything from the chest, placing the items beside it.
Soon, the chest slowly disappeared, leaving only five items laid out before them.
“Your luck is truly incredible. You actually got a staff, and it’s Golden Quality too.” Xu Feng shook his head in admiration. Wang Ying’s luck was just too good.

“Wow, it really is a weapon I can use! I’m so happy!” Wang Ying hugged the one-handed staff, excitedly jumping up and down.
Inside the entire chest, only this staff was a high-class item; the rest were just some materials and Healing Potions.
“Put everything away. Remember to turn off the weapon’s glow. Don’t let others know it’s a golden weapon.” Xu Feng said quietly.
“Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. How do I turn it off? Oh, let me see. Like this, I think? Haha, turned off! Great!” Wang Ying kissed the staff, overjoyed.
Even with the glow turned off, experienced people could still judge an item’s quality by its texture, material, and other details. But turning off the glow could still reduce attracting unwanted attention and avoid unnecessary trouble.
“Xu Feng, should we keep looking for chests?” Wang Ying asked, her big eyes blinking.
“Let’s continue tomorrow. It’s getting dark, and there are so many Fish Monsters around. It’s too dangerous. This place won’t have visitors for a while, so we can search here thoroughly.” Xu Feng glanced at the sky and said.
This Resort Lake was huge, with many chests around. And after some time, the chests here would respawn. In his previous life, Xu Feng had once stayed here for a period, living off opening chests. That time was one of the happiest days he experienced—no pursuit, no schemes or betrayals. Thinking back, Xu Feng still felt warmth.
“Hey, Xu Feng, look! There was nothing there earlier, but now a small tree suddenly appeared!” Wang Ying pointed not far away and whispered.
About a kilometer away from where Xu Feng and Wang Ying stood, a small tree, only about two meters tall, suddenly appeared by the lake.
This tree was strange. Ordinary trees of two meters height would be thin and barely graspable, but this one was different. Though only two meters tall, it was thicker than ancient trees hundreds of years old.
Out of habit, Xu Feng opened his Virtual Map to check. This was a habit from his ten years of adventure—whenever he encountered something unfamiliar, he would open the map immediately. If it was something not previously found on Earth, the map would show it at once.
Sure enough, at the small tree’s location, a yellow dot appeared on the map, blinking to alert Xu Feng—it was another alien creature, and a neutral one at that.
Xu Feng breathed a small sigh of relief. Neutral races weren’t completely without danger, but as long as one didn’t provoke them, they usually wouldn’t harm Earth’s native beings.
“Fortunately, it’s not a hostile race.” Xu Feng thought to himself. If it were hostile, the map would show a larger red dot, warning Earthlings to avoid it.
Generally, individuals capable of traveling to Earth alone were powerful beings, far beyond what Xu Feng could handle at his current stage.
“That’s an alien race, a neutral one. If we don’t provoke it, it shouldn’t be dangerous to us.” Xu Feng said quietly.
“Should we go take a look?” Wang Ying asked hesitantly. The last neutral race they encountered was a Wandering Merchant resembling the Insect Race. This time, she wondered what race it was.
“Judging by its tree-like appearance, if I’m not mistaken, it’s probably the friendly Spirit Tribe from the cosmos.” Xu Feng searched his memories and said. “But it could also be another race skilled in transformation.”
The universe was filled with countless races, each with their own talents and formidable abilities. Some races were adept at using illusions and could shapeshift into other races’ forms.
Wang Ying stayed quietly by Xu Feng’s side, watching him, waiting for his decision. She was no longer surprised by how much Xu Feng knew about alien races.
“Let’s go check it out. Many kind races hold sympathetic attitudes toward Earthlings.” Xu Feng sighed and said.
The two walked toward the small tree. They covered the one-kilometer distance quickly. Xu Feng held Wang Ying’s hand and stopped about three meters away from the small tree, asking softly, “Hello, may I ask if you are from the Spirit Tribe?”
Upon hearing Xu Feng’s question, the small tree suddenly trembled.
Rustle rustle~
As its leaves shook, a human-like face appeared on the tree trunk.
