Chapter 154: Hunting the Fish Monster

“Can you kill a Fish Monster like this? Every time you kill one, they drop Fish Eggs,” Luo Jing asked with an excited and expectant expression.

These kinds of monsters could survive out of water. Seeing their short, thick limbs under their bellies and the sharp, steel-knife-like teeth in their mouths, Xu Feng knew that hunting Fish Monsters in this valley meant being prepared to become their dinner.

Finally, a Fish Monster that was seven or eight meters long and had Four-Star Strength roared and pushed aside the other Fish Monsters, rushing into the small ditch first. When it leaped and landed in the ditch, half the seawater inside splashed out.

“Hey, if you’re ready to die, I’m ready to bury you,” Luo Jing chuckled, pulling out his bow and firing an arrow at the Blue Fish Monster.

He was a Hunter, a long-range profession, so he naturally wouldn’t charge forward to block the Blue Fish Monster. Since Xu Feng had dared to lure it, it was his job to hold the front line. As long as Xu Feng didn’t die, Luo Jing was safe. If Xu Feng couldn’t hold out, Luo Jing could escape long before the Blue Fish Monster killed him.

Disturbed, the Blue Fish Monster roared and charged at Xu Feng on its stubby legs.

The other Fish Monsters, however, were unhurried. After drinking the seawater from the small pool, they calmly retreated toward the sea lake. The climate here was warm, making it a suitable place for spawning, which was why many Fish Monsters preparing to lay eggs had gathered here.

Seeing that only the Blue Fish Monster was attacking, Xu Feng breathed a sigh of relief.

His longsword turned into a streak of light as he thrust it at the Blue Fish Monster.

Clang! Clang! Clang! The sword struck the Fish Monster’s scales, producing metallic clashing sounds. The scales of a Four-Star Fish Monster were as tough as the Insectoid Carapace of an Insect Human of the same level, incredibly hard.

The Blue Fish Monster, carrying eggs, was much more irritable than usual. It opened its mouth wide at Xu Feng, and like a high-pressure water jet, a stream of water shot toward him.

Xu Feng dodged out of the way. The water stream blasted a hole over half a meter deep into a rock wall behind him. Seeing this, Luo Jing was startled and couldn’t help taking a few more steps back.

Xu Feng controlled his Flying Sword, slashing at the Blue Fish Monster. The Flying Sword darted unpredictably, repeatedly hacking at the Fish Monster’s head, driving it into a frenzy. It tried to bite the sword, but the Flying Sword was too fast for it to catch.

Crack!

A crisp sound rang out as a scale the size of a bucket shattered, revealing the blue-black skin beneath.

“You actually managed to break a Four-Star Fish Monster’s defense!” Luo Jing exclaimed in surprise.

In the past, Luo Jing had tried to lure some Fish Monsters to hunt alone, but he couldn’t even break the scales of a Three-Star Fish Monster, let alone a Four-Star Blue Fish Monster.

Drizzling Rain Shower!

The Flying Sword transformed into fine, rain-like streams of light, swirling around the Blue Fish Monster. Scales continued to break, and the once majestic, armor-like metallic scales became mottled and battered. Pale blue blood oozed from the broken scales, making the Blue Fish Monster look even more disheveled.

“He actually… he actually can kill a Four-Star Fish Monster…” Luo Jing’s gaze toward Xu Feng became complicated.

Under Xu Feng’s control, the Flying Sword danced around the Blue Fish Monster, slicing repeatedly and producing a series of crisp impact sounds. The Fish Monster couldn’t decide whether to attack Xu Feng directly or go after the Flying Sword.

At times, it lunged at Xu Feng, chasing and biting at him; at other times, it stopped, twisted its large body, and snapped at the Flying Sword.

The Blue Fish Monster’s Health Points steadily declined. Luo Jing’s attacks only dealt single-digit damage. He stood far away, watching intently as Xu Feng single-handedly hunted the Four-Star monster. The look in his eyes as he stared at Xu Feng’s back grew somewhat sinister.

The Blue Fish Monster let out a loud cry, opened its mouth, and a complex pattern of blue-black lines appeared on its head.

The Flying Sword’s speed reached its peak, the sound of it cutting through the air almost piercing their eardrums. It transformed into three afterimages, shooting straight into the Blue Fish Monster’s wide-open mouth.

Three critical hits of over a thousand damage floated above the Blue Fish Monster’s head, followed by a final magical damage number. Then, with a loud boom, a violent explosion sent the Fish Monster’s body flying backward.

Seeing those three critical hits and the final magic damage, Luo Jing’s right hand trembled slightly involuntarily.

The Blue Fish Monster lay with its white belly upturned, body twitching slightly. A white sword light burst out from its skull and returned to Xu Feng’s hand.

“Heh, a Four-Star monster is nothing special!” Xu Feng laughed.

Above the Blue Fish Monster’s corpse, a milky white energy sphere the size of a football appeared, floating in the air as if in water, gently bobbing up and down. Next to it, a palm-sized Fate Treasure Chest glowed with the same milky white light.

Neither of them could use this dagger right now. Xu Feng showed its attributes and then stored it in his backpack.

A Four-Star dagger was just right for the Sacrificial Art; at the very least, it could attract the response of a Four-Star entity.

Watching Xu Feng put the Four-Star dagger into his backpack, a flash of greed appeared in Luo Jing’s eyes. Up to now, he still didn’t have a single Three-Star weapon; all his gear was Two-Star. Fighting Three-Star monsters was too troublesome for him.
