Chapter 135: Baron

“You shouldn’t have come up. Your strength isn’t much greater than the last one. Coming here is just offering yourself up to die.”

A handsome middle-aged man in a black dress suit took a book from the shelf and walked to the desk to sit down.

The man looked exactly like a human from Earth, and judging by his appearance, he seemed like a genuine Huaxia man.

He had a medium build, wore golden-framed glasses, a high nose bridge, fair skin, and a thin mustache that added to his mature charm.

He lifted his head and smiled lightly at Xu Feng, his eyes full of pity.

Xu Feng felt a momentary daze. This place didn’t feel like a Death Fortress full of undead and spirits. It seemed more like a university lecture hall, and the man before him was a refined professor.

“Are you Baron Sara? Building a dimensional teleportation channel?” Xu Feng suddenly asked. He casually cast Insight Skill. As expected, the man before him was indeed Baron Sara.

“Name: Sara. Three-Star Lord. Health Points: 8600/8600. High-Level Bloodline. Title: Baron!”

“Dimensional teleportation channel?” Baron Sara froze for a moment. Following Xu Feng’s gaze, he glanced at the half-built altar and laughed. “This is a Void Folding Magic Formation, also called a Wormhole. But its function is indeed similar to whatever channel you mentioned.”

Xu Feng’s heart tightened. In his past life, he hadn’t known how the Flood Dragon perished together with the Ancient Castle or whether this Wormhole, which looked almost identical to the altar from the Village of Sacrifice, had ever been completed. But now that Xu Feng knew, he absolutely could not allow it to be built.

“You…” Before Xu Feng could finish, Baron Sara looked at him with pity and shook his head. “You are already dead.”

Xu Feng paused, not understanding the man’s words.

Boom!

A black blade of light, over three meters long, materialized out of thin air and slashed down toward Xu Feng’s head.

Bang!

A golden glow appeared around Xu Feng and shattered into countless sparkles along with the black blade, scattering down.

Xu Feng’s expression changed drastically. He glanced at his Status Bar. True enough, the Angel’s Blessing effect had vanished.

Crack!

A black stone statue on Baron Sara’s desk shattered, turning into gravel that scattered across the desktop.

“You destroyed one of my costly protective items.” Baron Sara looked at the scattered black stone fragments on the desk, his face twisted in obvious anguish.

“Oh, crap. You’re being sneaky again!” Xu Feng finally snapped out of it, his eyes blazing as he glared at Baron Sara and roared, “Die!”

Baron Sara laughed heartily. With a wave of his hand, the desk in front of him exploded into a massive ball of flames, quickly reducing to a pile of ash.

“Originally, I thought that feather-haired wench had given up hope. I didn’t expect she still clung to a foolish chance, placing her hopes on a little runt like you.” Baron Sara revealed an evil smile. “Looks like only after you die will that foolish woman truly despair… will she finally fall. Then, I’ll have a Fallen Angel under my command. Ha ha ha!”

So, this had been Baron Sara’s plan all along. That’s why he hadn’t destroyed the angel statue.

Xu Feng swung his right hand. A sword three chi long appeared in his palm. Gripping the sword tight, Xu Feng charged toward Baron Sara.

Baron Sara laughed as he pulled out a massive axe from his extradimensional storage item. A fine silver chain was attached to the axe’s handle. Grasping the chain, he began whirling it in the air. The axe spun along with the chain’s motion, emitting a terrifying whoosh-whoosh sound.

Xu Feng closed the distance. Swinging his sword, a dazzling white blade light slashed toward the Baron.

Baron Sara chuckled softly. With a flick of his wrist, the enormous axe swung at Xu Feng with a loud whoosh.

Clang!

Sword met axe. Xu Feng felt an immense force hit him, sending his body flying backward uncontrollably.

“Flying Sword! Slash!”

Xu Feng’s body was still reeling backward, but his sword flew from his hand and hacked viciously onto Baron Sara’s body.

A simple swing actually shaved off over two hundred Health Points from Baron Sara. The prowess of the sword after its Forging delighted Xu Feng.

Swift Wind Thrust!

With a thought from Xu Feng, the Flying Sword spun mid-air and stabbed into Sara’s back.

-212! -143! -98!

Three damage numbers popped up in quick succession.

Boom!

A fifth number, a fiery red -500, appeared. Just the first exchange had cost Baron Sara over a thousand Health Points.

“You little pest!”

Baron Sara yanked his right hand. With a clinking sound, the silver chain pulled the great axe flying back to him.

His right hand grasped the axe handle. Then, with a furious sweep, he swung the axe directly toward Xu Feng.

Xu Feng leapt backward. The axe’s edge barely scraped past his scalp.

-325

Just a graze cost him over three hundred points. If struck squarely, the damage would easily have exceeded fifteen hundred points.

Xu Feng’s heart lurched. Though mentally prepared, Baron Sara’s damage output still surpassed his expectations.

Xu Feng raised his hand. The Flying Sword shot back into his grasp. Employing the Drizzle Sword Technique, Xu Feng transformed into a streak of rain and began trading blows with Baron Sara.

Downstairs in the Ancient Castle’s main hall, Ding Xiang was gathering the remains of the Hardhide Zombies. From every corpse, she condensed a black crystal, large or small, and tucked them away.

After turning every piece of remains in the hall into black crystals, she stuffed the entire handful of crystals into her mouth. Crunch, crunch. They made clear cracking sounds as she bit down, as if eating candy.

Ding Xiang’s eyes narrowed slightly, a look of pure delight spreading across her face. She resembled a kitchen cat that had sneakily found a little fish and felt deeply satisfied after eating it.

After finishing, the deathly aura surrounding Ding Xiang thickened noticeably. A faint layer of grey mist began swirling and lingering around her body.

“Mmm, so delicious. Sour and sweet, just like fruit candy.” Ding Xiang stuck out her small tongue to lick her lips, a look of unfinished longing on her face.

If Xu Feng saw Ding Xiang now, he’d definitely be shocked. Just days before, she was a little girl with One-Star Strength. Now, she’d already stepped into the Three-Star tier, and wasn’t far from the Three-Star peak.

Just then, the faint sounds of battle drifted down from the second floor. Ding Xiang’s brow furrowed slightly.

“Hmm… seems Big Brother is in trouble. Should I go up and help him?”

Ding Xiang hesitated for a short while. Finally, she nodded decisively and muttered to herself, “I’ll go take a look. After all… people who aren’t afraid of Ding Xiang, people willing to help Ding Xiang… are fewer and fewer lately…”

Because of her summoning abilities, many people despised and feared Ding Xiang. Which explained why such a young girl was surviving all on her own.

However… as attacks from alien species became more frequent, and especially after the Land of the Undead was absorbed and fused by Earth’s Will, more professions were appearing: Necromancers, Undead Summoners, Death Warriors, Undead Archers, and others. By that time, though some folks still wouldn’t like them, such people would become increasingly scarce.

Ding Xiang tilted her head and listened intently for a few moments. Then she started walking towards the second floor.
