Chapter 131: Search
Chapter 131: Search
Xu Feng waited quietly for Li Jin to recover his spirit and Energy Value. Soon, Li Jin struggled to stand up. His Energy Value was full again, but his tired spirit was not so easy to recover. However, this was the Death Fortress, full of powerful Undead Creatures, and not a place to rest. They needed to quickly search those rooms and collect the loot. Otherwise, if more Undead Creatures appeared, all their efforts would be wasted.
Unknown to the two of them, in a corridor not far behind, a petite figure hid motionless in the shadows, quietly watching them fight monsters. She watched for as long as they fought, never feeling tired.
“I saw that kind big brother again. They are so strong, they can defeat so many elite monsters,” the little girl thought. “So many undead essences. I wonder if they want them. If they don’t, I’ll turn them all into undead essences. Then I can summon a few more babies.”
“Do you need these materials from the undead bones?” Li Jin asked.
Xu Feng shook his head. These materials were useless to him. They were only needed for forging equipment for the undead class, and the undead class was too rare. Even if he gave them to Zheng Yi to level up his Forging skill, there were no forging blueprints for undead equipment.
“Selling them to the shop would get at least a few thousand Fate Points,” Li Jin said, looking like a miser as he picked through the Hardhide Zombie’s remains. He selected some bones with concentrated undead energy and put them into his Virtual Backpack.
“Alright, didn’t you say the big rewards are in those rooms? Let’s go check them out quickly,” Xu Feng urged.
“Okay, okay, let’s go. Let’s see those rooms. There should be good loot,” Li Jin said, glancing reluctantly at the zombie remains all over the floor.
His Virtual Backpack was the smallest, only one square meter in size, so he could only pick the best items with high undead energy. He had to leave many ordinary bone materials behind.
The two headed towards the room closest to them.
“Bad guy!” The little girl secretly followed behind, glared angrily at Li Jin’s back, and made a face. She pouted, looking very upset. “The big brother is the best. He didn’t pick up anything.”
The two arrived at the first room. The door was open, and the room was simply furnished with only a bed, a desk, two chairs, and a bookshelf covering one wall.
Li Jin went in and casually looked through the books on the shelf. The books had decayed and turned into dust at a touch. After searching for a while, he found nothing. Li Jin even tapped every brick on the wall.
“It seems there’s nothing valuable in this room. Let’s go to the next one,” Li Jin said disappointedly.
Soon, the two searched all the rooms with open doors but found nothing useful inside. Everything was worthless.
“This is so annoying. We got more from the corridor earlier,” Li Jin said angrily.
“There are still those locked rooms we haven’t explored yet,” Xu Feng said, not discouraged, pointing at the closed rooms.
“Right, the locked ones might have good stuff,” Li Jin perked up again.
There were only three rooms in the hall with locked doors.
“Do you know the lock-picking skill?” Xu Feng asked.
“No, I don’t…” Li Jin’s face turned slightly red.
Xu Feng was speechless. As a Thief with Three-Star Peak strength, he didn’t know how to disarm traps or pick locks. Probably, he hadn’t even learned the Thief’s essential stealing skill.
Without another word, Xu Feng raised his short sword and struck the door lock.
Bang, bang, bang!
After a short while, the lock was broken. Xu Feng kicked the door open.
Li Jin watched, stunned. He couldn’t believe they could do it that way!
Sure enough, the locked room contained good items.
The room had rows of weapon racks holding various weapons, mostly heavy weapons and polearms.
“Hey, one, two, three, four…” Li Jin’s eyes gleamed as he counted quietly.
A quick glance showed about twenty to thirty weapons, but only five could be considered equipment: three of Silver Quality and two of Gold Quality.
In the room, only five weapons were considered equipment. The Silver Quality weapons were two daggers and one gauntlet. The Gold weapons were a one-handed sword and a shield.
“Five pieces of equipment. How do we split them?” Li Jin scratched his head and asked.
“Let’s each take one Gold Equipment. The two Silver daggers make a pair, so you can have them,” Xu Feng said.
Earlier, when clearing the hall, Xu Feng hadn’t contributed much apart from providing a few energy-restoring food items. Li Jin had eliminated all the monsters in the hall alone, so it was fair for him to take an extra Silver Quality weapon.
“Thank you, then! Hehe!” Li Jin stepped forward, threw the two Black Iron Grade daggers he was using into his backpack, picked up the two Silver Quality daggers, and twirled them in his hands, looking very pleased.
“Do you want the sword or the shield?” Li Jin asked.
“The sword,” Xu Feng said.
Although he already had a Gold Quality short sword, Xu Feng preferred using a long sword; it felt more comfortable in his hand.
Without another word, Li Jin directly stored the Gold Quality shield.
Truthfully, the shield was more valuable than the sword, but Xu Feng’s main weapon was a sword, so he chose one he could use.
With the long sword, his short sword naturally retired honorably and became a backup weapon.
Picking up the long sword, Xu Feng checked its attributes.
“Item Name: Sophia’s Praise. Item Type: One-handed Sword. Item Grade: Gold. Item Attributes: Damage 289-296, Agility +15, Strength +10, Spirit +10, Penetration +3, Majesty +2, Damage to Undead +20%. When attacking, there is a chance to trigger ‘Sophia’s Prelude of Valor’. Sophia’s Prelude of Valor: Increases user’s energy recovery rate by 35%, increases user’s attack speed by 15%. Within ten meters of the user, increases defense of user and allies by 30%, increases courage by 10%. Usage Restriction: Agility Three-Star!”
The attributes were good, suitable for small team battles, and it required only Three-Star Agility to use.
Following the same method, the two broke into the other two rooms. One room contained over a dozen bottles of intermediate Healing Potions and energy recovery potions. The other room held seven or eight blueprints and six Attribute Gems.
Xu Feng selected three Forging blueprints and two Strength Gems and one Spirit Gem from the Attribute Gems.
The Forging blueprints were for Zheng Yi. The Attribute Gems would allow Xu Feng’s Strength and Spirit to reach the Three-Star standard. Then, Xu Feng only needed to get his Perception to Three-Star to achieve Three-Star Peak strength.
