Chapter 10: False Accusations and a Shameless Man

Jiang Xincheng knew that he was the unfaithful man who had betrayed Lin Anan and was dating two people at once. Behind him followed several students about the same age, who seemed to be his dorm mates.

“Liu Yijun, stop pretending to care about me. Go find that sly woman Liu Jie. Get lost quickly and don’t disturb my drinking.” Lin Anan waved her hand as if shooing away a fly, then picked up a bottle of beer in front of her and placed it before Jiang Xincheng. “Brother Xincheng, let’s drink.”

Jiang Xincheng nodded, smiled, picked up the beer, clinked it with Lin Anan’s, and downed the entire bottle in one go, acting as if he didn’t see Liu Yijun and the others.

Liu Yijun’s face soured slightly as he stared coldly at Jiang Xincheng. “Anan, who is he? I don’t remember seeing him around you before. Is he your…”

Hearing Liu Yijun’s insinuating words, Lin Anan’s expression changed. “Do I need your permission to make friends? You sure like to meddle.”

“Friends?” Liu Yijun sneered. “Even if he is your friend, why is he taking you out drinking so late? Doesn’t he know you’re my girlfriend? And as my girlfriend, how could you go out drinking with him at this hour? Have you even considered how I feel?”

“Get lost!” Lin Anan flew into a rage at his words. “Liu Yijun, get as far away from me as you can right now. Don’t ever call me your girlfriend again. From today on, we’re through.”

Jiang Xincheng’s face also darkened. He already harbored deep resentment toward this playboy, who in a past life had caused Sister Anan to live a lonely life until her death.

Now, not only had Liu Yijun made a mistake without any intention to apologize or change, he even falsely accused Jiang Xincheng of having ulterior motives and doubted his relationship with Lin Anan. How could such a man ever deserve Sister Anan?

“Lin Anan, are you really breaking up with me over this guy? We’ve been together for so long, since high school until now. Don’t you know how well I’ve treated you?” Liu Yijun was enraged by Lin Anan’s words. Pointing a finger at Jiang Xincheng’s nose, he snapped, “Is he better-looking than me? Is he stronger than me? Does he treat you as well as I do? What does he have that I don’t? How could you dump me for this scoundrel?”

Lin Anan was stunned by Liu Yijun’s words. She hadn’t expected him to twist the situation like this, blaming the breakup on her and Jiang Xincheng.

It wasn’t her, Lin Anan, who had cheated and dated two people at once—it was that scoundrel Liu Yijun. Didn’t he realize that?

Lin Anan was so furious she couldn’t speak. Jiang Xincheng stood up and said to Liu Yijun, word by word, “At least I’m more loyal than you. At least I don’t two-time. At least I don’t shamelessly make promises and then deny them. At least I wouldn’t drive away my girlfriend for another woman.”

“Also, you’re wrong. Though I may not be as handsome as you, I am stronger than you, and I treat Sister Anan better than you ever did.”

“Fine, let’s see just how strong you are then.” Jiang Xincheng’s words infuriated Liu Yijun, who raised a fist and swung it at Jiang Xincheng.

Just as Jiang Xincheng was about to defend himself, Lin Anan stopped him. Her fair, delicate fist blocked Liu Yijun’s punch. “Liu Yijun, let me make this clear: you are no longer my boyfriend, so stay out of my business. What Brother Xincheng said is right—you’re not half the man he is. If you want to fight, you’ll have to go through me. This has nothing to do with Brother Xincheng.”

“You’re still protecting him? Who’s your boyfriend—him or me? Lin Anan, don’t go too far.” Liu Yijun’s face turned pale with rage. “And I’m telling you clearly: you can’t protect him today. If I don’t break both his legs, my name isn’t Liu Yijun.”

“Liu Yijun, don’t you go too far either. If you dare lay a finger on Brother Xincheng, I’ll break all four of your limbs.” Lin Anan pointed at him, her voice icy.

Seeing Lin Anan’s fierce glare, Liu Yijun was beside himself with anger. “Jiang Xincheng, are you even a man? Hiding behind a woman? If you’re a man, step up and fight me one-on-one. Don’t let Lin Anan protect you.”

Jiang Xincheng frowned slightly, then intimately took Lin Anan’s soft hand in his. This only made Liu Yijun even angrier.

“Sister Anan, step aside for a moment. Matters like this are best settled between us men. Just watch.”

Lin Anan furrowed her delicate brows. “How can you beat him? Liu Yijun is one of the top ten freshmen. His Primordial Force has reached the Peak Late Muscle-Tempering Stage, and he’s trained in karate. He’s a well-known genius at school.”

“You’re no match for him, and this whole mess has nothing to do with you—you’re just getting dragged into it because of me. Let me handle this; you just watch.”

Jiang Xincheng pulled Lin Anan behind him, a faint smile curling his lips. “Sister Anan, whether I’m a match for Liu Yijun or not, you’ll see soon enough. Since I’ve decided to fight, I must have confidence. And who says this has nothing to do with me? You’re my Sister Anan—your problems are my problems. How could it not concern me?”

Hearing his last words and seeing the sincerity on his face, Lin Anan froze, staring blankly at Jiang Xincheng, unsure what to say.

Deep down, that sense of familiarity grew stronger, as if Jiang Xincheng really were a relative from a past life, here in this life to protect her.

But to Liu Yijun, it looked as though Lin Anan and Jiang Xincheng were gazing affectionately into each other’s eyes, completely disregarding him.

“Jiang Xincheng, are you going to fight or not? If you’re too scared, kneel down and apologize, then leave Lin Anan and never approach her again. If you do, I might just let you off.”

Liu Yijun’s roar shattered the ambiguous atmosphere between Jiang Xincheng and Lin Anan. Lin Anan’s cheeks flushed, and she lowered her head. “Then be careful. If you think you can’t win, just say the word. I’ll teach this beast Liu Yijun a lesson.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t let you down.” Jiang Xincheng smiled slightly and walked toward Liu Yijun. “Believe me, he’s nothing to me.”

Hearing this, the already impatient Liu Yijun’s eyes turned red. He clenched his fist and threw a punch straight at Jiang Xincheng’s head. “Such arrogance! I’ll show you right now just how much of a ‘nothing’ I am.”

The punch whistled through the air, swift as lightning. Thrown in a rage, it held all the Primordial Force in his body—his strongest strike.

Lin Anan’s face changed. Even she wasn’t sure she could block a punch that powerful.

Jiang Xincheng was only a freshman who had enrolled a few months ago. He didn’t seem to come from a wealthy family and had never used any Cultivation Resources. How could he possibly defeat Liu Yijun, who regularly consumed Yuan Crystals and was skilled in karate.

The dorm friends who had come with Liu Yijun grinned.

“Boss’s punches are getting fiercer. I wonder if this kid can take it.”

“Are you kidding? It’d be a miracle if he could block this one punch. Boss will finish him with this hit.”

“Who knows? Maybe it’ll take two punches. Did you hear how cocky this guy was earlier? He must have some skill.”
