Chapter 95: Frenzied Summoning

“I don’t believe this. A couple more times… Hmph, how about trying one at a time this round.” Sun Fei declared, grabbing the delicate hand of a little purple-haired Lori beside him. With a buzzing sound and a flash of blue light, he vanished alongside Warriv. But… the little Lori remained behind.

The blue light flashed again, and Sun Fei reappeared, looking very annoyed.

“Again…”

Sun Fei vanished once more.

Sun Fei reappeared once more.

Sun Fei vanished again.

Over ten minutes later,

Sun Fei had held each of the young women’s hands. Initially, this shameless Rogue had genuinely intended to find the problem, but as time passed, he was clearly just using it as an excuse to hold their soft hands. The female Rogues were each young and beautiful… haha, not taking advantage would be foolish.

However, not a single attempt to teleport to Lut Gholein succeeded.

Except with Ileena.

“This is strange. There must be some crucial reason I’ve overlooked…”

Sun Fei bowed his head in thought, starting to search for the cause.

Why was it that Ileena was the only female Rogue who could travel successfully with him to Lut Gholein, while others could not? Sun Fei suddenly realized this situation bore a striking resemblance to his experience after accidentally triggering Summoning, one of the Three Divine Skills. Similarly, under the effect of the Summoning skill, only Ileena could be called to the real world, while others couldn’t.

After much pondering, Sun Fei’s gaze finally landed on Warriv’s face, the man in blue.

The other man wore a faint, teasing smile.

“Warriv, do you know what’s happening here?” Sun Fei already guessed something.

“Yes, my lord, the reason is simple. Miss Ileena is your Mercenary. You signed an Employment Contract with her. Therefore, under the power of the contract, she can move through space and time with you. But the other ladies haven’t signed an Employment Contract with you. Therefore, I cannot use the power of the contract to bring them to Lut Gholein with you. My apologies.”

Employment Contract?

A lightning bolt flashed through Sun Fei’s mind.

Suddenly, he felt he had grasped a crucial point. The mystery behind the Divine Skill Summoning began to unravel for him the very moment Warriv uttered those words, revealing its true face behind the veil of secrecy.

That was it!

Sun Fei suddenly understood.

The only reason he could summon Ileena from the World of Diablo to the real world was because the Employment Contract existed between them. This contract was automatically signed upon completing the task from Mercenary leader Kashya to eliminate the Blood Raven; it was the mission reward, the mysterious factor he had overlooked all along. If he could sign similar contracts with other denizens of the Rogue Encampment, did that mean he could summon them to the real world as well?

Sun Fei couldn’t wait to test this idea.

He bid farewell to Warriv and the reluctant female Rogues, passed through several tents, and found Nun Acarra in front of a tattered little tent in the southeastern corner of the camp, who was mixing potions.

“Contract?”

After hearing Sun Fei’s theory, a light flashed in Acarra’s eyes, as if she too had a sudden realization. She spoke slowly: “Your guess isn’t wrong. This might exactly be the reason only Ileena can go to your world.”

“Then… can I sign Employment Contracts with others?” This was the question Sun Fei cared about most.

“Hmm… I’m afraid not.” Acarra shook her head.

“What… That… Why?” Fei grew visibly anxious upon hearing this.

“In the Rogue Continent, the Employment Contract is one of several contract types, and by far the most unique. It possesses singularity and exclusivity. Since you’ve already signed an Employment Contract with Ileena, you cannot sign a similar contract with anyone else. Not unless you first actively terminate the Employment Contract with Ileena…”

Acarra’s words slowly sank Sun Fei’s heart, and his expression turned grim.

Was this decreed by fate? That he could only summon one person from the World of Diablo to the real world? How utterly infuriating!

However, no matter what, Sun Fei absolutely could not bring himself to terminate the contract with Ileena. Ileena had said long ago that for a female Rogue, being fired by an employer equaled losing her honor, something worse than death. Moreover, after working alongside that Mercenary Beauty for so long, they could understand each other’s thoughts with a glance. Sun Fei had also developed deep, reluctant feelings towards this beautiful Mercenary who was as delicate as a lotus yet inwardly strong.

Just then, however, Nun Acarra suddenly broke into a mysterious smile and continued: “Although that’s true for the Employment Contract… in the Rogue Continent, many other contract types can achieve similar effects. Contracts like Friendship Contracts, Master-Servant Contracts, Combat Contracts, Apprentice Contracts, Alliance Contracts, and others. If I am not mistaken, signing these contracts might also achieve the result you desire. Why not try them?”

Sun Fei spat metaphorical foam: “…” He was now one hundred percent certain the mischief-loving Nun Acarra had just played another trick on him.

The Underground Grotto Labyrinth, Back Mountain of Shampoo City.

Bzzz…

A comfortable humming sound filled the air as if something vibrated and struggled within it. The next split second, a massive sky-blue portal tore open the space, flashing into existence within the stone hall.

Sun Fei stepped out from the portal.

Right behind him emerged a thin figure entirely enveloped in a long purple robe. Following closely was a stunning, powerful, red-haired beauty in exquisite armor; her hair burned like bright fire. A palpable aura of immense power radiated from her.

These two were Nun Acarra and Ileena.

“Ah! Such incredibly fresh air, such pure natural energy…” Nun Acarra closed her eyes, standing in the stone hall, inhaling the air of the Azeroth Continent deeply and with deep intoxication. Her face showed unusual excitement. “This sensation… this World of Light… it’s been far too long!”

Neither Sun Fei nor Ileena spoke as they observed the heavily emotional Acarra.

The spiritual leader of the Rogue Encampment, Nun Acarra, rarely showed such uncomposed emotions. As the darkness smothered the Rogue Continent, she, carried everyone’s hopes on her frail shoulders. She became the prophet of the Rogue Continent, a beacon in the darkest night guiding everyone forward, offering the Rogues a weak yet crucial spark of hope. In all their eyes, Acarra was synonymous with calm competence, undisturbed no matter the situation. Yet today, finally standing in this stone hall breathing the pure atmosphere of an unsullied world, tasting an air so remarkably similar to the Rogue Continent untouched by darkness, this great leader could not quell such powerful waves of emotion.

A long time passed before Acarra’s emotions slowly calmed.

“Lord Sun Fei, is this your dominion? The mysterious Underground Grotto Labyrinth Ileena spoke of? Why do I feel a powerful sense of familiarity?” Acarra asked, sensing the surrounding aura with confusion.

“I’ll have someone escort you around for a tour first. Beyond the grotto lies an exceptionally beautiful world, one I believe you will surely adore.” Sun Fei said with a smile. “As for that strange feeling, both Ileena and I experienced it. Sadly, we never found the cause.”

Acarra considered this, then nodded in agreement.

Concentrating his will, Sun Fei instantly depleted all his Magic Points under Barbarian Mode. With a great effort, he opened two or three more portals all at once, Summoning over a dozen young female Rogues and the big-wave beauty Charsi the blacksmith into the stone hall. He carefully explained the necessary precautions, then finally exited the stone hall. He beckoned over the Prison Warden Oleg, who was directing demolition work in the distance, ordering him to escort Nun Acarra and the others around the city to see the sights.

“At your command, Your Majesty the King.”

Oleg’s mind spun seeing over ten people suddenly appear in the hall. He had no idea how they slipped past him and the soldiers on patrol outside. Yet these strangers evidently stood on familiar terms with the king. Not daring to question further, Oleg led Acarra and the group with utmost reverence towards the hall’s exit.

At that exact moment, Sun Fei abruptly reached out and grabbed Ileena’s hand from behind.

He whispered softly into her ear: “You know this world well now. Take care of sister Acarra and the girls. The city is crowded with outsiders these days; avoid confrontations. If anything happens, you could probably first consult that fat idiot.” He pointed at Prison Warden Oleg; the guy rather had a knack for reading situations and choosing his actions wisely.

As he spoke, Ileena’s soft, flawless earlobe grazed Sun Fei’s cheek; a strand of her silky hair brushed lightly against his skin, gently plucking a string deep within his heart.

Ileena merely bowed her head, feeling the warmth emanating from Sun Fei’s large hand. By this point, she seemed accustomed to him holding her hand like this, no longer feeling shy. She just nodded silently with a slight, knowing smile.

“One of us could stay with you?” she whispered sneakily.

Sun Fei smiled back at her softly. “…I still have another matter to deal with.”

For an instant, they resembled two schoolgirls hiding stern teacher’s eye at the back of class long ago, exchanging a few soft private sentences. An ambiguous intimacy floated between them; the kind making embarrassed cheeks grow pink and faint hearts race.

Ileena eventually departed, walking away rather pleased.
