Chapter 58: Trouble?
Chapter 58: Trouble?
“Patch! Patch!” Inside his dwelling in Sta City, Zheng Yichen’s projection emerged from the alchemical puppet. He rubbed the complete version projection of the Magic Weapon Summoning Book with his claws, making further modifications to some of its internal rules. The rule system had been ‘programmed’ by Loris because Zheng Yichen’s own power wasn’t sufficient. After all, she could even modify Contracts to some extent.
Creating such a thing for the summoning book wasn’t difficult for her. Of course, it also referenced some knowledge provided by Zheng Yichen, such as computer knowledge. Even though the two had no possible connection, it still gave Loris new inspiration.
The mana in the Magic Weapon Summoning Book was continuously being consumed as new patches were applied. Zheng Yichen’s response to those villains who profited from the Magic Weapon Summoning Book was simple. This matter could never be completely stopped; the best way was to make them do it less!
Each time the Magic Weapon Summoning Book projection he summoned was used by others as a Contract medium, it would lower their ‘permission’ to use the Magic Weapon Summoning Book. Simply put, the strength ratio of the Magic Arms they could summon would decrease!
For this patch, Zheng Yichen certainly wouldn’t be kind enough to issue any update notices. After all, applying such a patch would also consume the stored mana in the Magic Weapon Summoning Book. Why should he bear such losses after those people profited?
He couldn’t just open a ‘payment’ channel in the Magic Weapon Summoning Book, could he? So that in the future, if you wanted to summon powerful Magic Arms, you not only needed mana but also had to pay… or spend money when using the Magic Weapon Summoning Book Contract… Zheng Yichen did want to do that, but considering the huge implications behind it, he decided to abandon such an approach.
In short, Zheng Yichen did not plan to make the news public. Let those Magic Weapon Summoners slowly discover it themselves. Once they realized the downsides of doing this, those with restraint would be fine, but those without any restraint would have regrets!
If one couldn’t even control their own desires, achieving sufficiently high accomplishments would be much harder compared to those who could exercise restraint.
Dispersing the Magic Weapon Summoning Book projection in his hand, Zheng Yichen’s projection slipped back into the alchemical puppet. He controlled it to walk outside. Even though he hadn’t been to Sta City for half a month, the Mysterious Tavern was still in good condition. Seeing this, Zheng Yichen walked in without hesitation.
The style inside remained the same, but the scale was much larger than half a month ago. The number of attendants had increased from one to two. The two attendants looked extremely similar, giving anyone the impression they were twins. What was more noteworthy was that, although their appearances were very similar, they were easy to tell apart. At least, even after such a long time away and with a new female attendant added, Zheng Yichen could immediately identify the one he had seen half a month ago, even though their attire was extremely similar.
“Would the guest like more water?” The attendant who had served Zheng Yichen half a month ago approached with a gentle smile and asked.
“Uh, I’d better look at the menu.” Taking the menu handed by the attendant, Zheng Yichen noticed it had a few more items than half a month ago. He hadn’t looked carefully last time. This time, upon closer inspection, he also discovered an additional custom service listed.
“What is this customization?”
“We can prepare drinks to the guest’s liking, including customizing the flavor,” the attendant replied with a smile.
“Oh? How is that done?” Hearing this, Zheng Yichen asked with interest. Upon hearing that flavors could also be customized, he immediately thought of things like cola, Sprite, Wahaha, and the like…
“The guest only needs to provide the ‘flavor,’” the female attendant said, taking a strip of wax paper from the tray she was carrying. “Just put this in your mouth and savor the flavor you like.”
Zheng Yichen looked at the thing, wanting to say something but holding back. His body was just a lump of metal; how could it have human taste buds? Even when drinking alcohol or beverages, it was only his projection in the head. Before he could say anything, the female attendant retrieved the wax paper.
“Although you can’t use this, guest, we have another method,” the attendant said, taking out a small round bead. “You can recall the flavor into this. Regarding the flavor you recall, we will not disclose it without your consent.”
Staring at the bead for a moment, Zheng Yichen carefully sensed it. He released a strand of Mental Energy to lightly probe it and found nothing unusual inside. The only special thing was an unidentified recording Magic within.
After confirming there was nothing strange, Zheng Yichen used it. The flavor to recall… naturally, it was the ones he had just mentioned! This process not only recorded the sensation of the flavor but also related memories of beverages with that flavor.
The small round bead, after recording the flavor, changed from colorless to colorful. Seeing this color, the female attendant was slightly stunned but quickly returned to normal, taking the bead back from Zheng Yichen. “Please wait a moment.”
“No desires were collected at all?” A graceful figure hidden behind a veil looked at the colorful bead in her palm with some surprise. She gently crushed the bead, and a colorful halo enveloped the area behind the veil. “A novel flavor. But just this… wouldn’t catch her eye, would it?”
Zheng Yichen didn’t have to wait long. Soon, the attendant who had served him earlier came over carrying a tray with three drinks. Looking at the beverages in the cups, Zheng Yichen felt full of nostalgia. The recreation wasn’t a hundred percent, but it was at least ninety percent.
As for the flavor, it was exactly the same as he remembered. As for the sensation… probably only his main body could experience that. Now, anything he drank would be decomposed by the mana within the projection, so naturally, there was no urge to burp. Thus, some of the fun from cola was lost.
“Can this be made in larger quantities?” After tasting, Zheng Yichen asked the attendant standing beside him. The latter nodded lightly. “Then fine, give me ten pounds of each.”
“…”
In the Black Market, the Boss of a Black Market shop once visited by Petty looked fearfully at several robed figures before him. They hadn’t stated their identities, but from the slight patterns on their clothes, the Black Market shop Boss could tell who they were. These people weren’t here for the first time. They had come to him purely because of some jewelry that had flowed out from here.
When he first saw these people bring those jewelry pieces back here, his heart suddenly jumped. Could these jewelry pieces be connected to some special person? Had trouble occurred?
Later, their words made him relieved yet also gave him a fright. The person connected to these jewelry pieces wasn’t the original owner but involved an even more special existence. As for what that was, he shouldn’t inquire further…
