Chapter 24: Today, Either You Kill Me or I Kill You
Chapter 24: Today, Either You Kill Me or I Kill You
Half an hour later, Kanzaki Rin drove into the underground parking garage of a high-rise building.
Fang Cheng stepped out, legs trembling slightly as he leaned against the car door, his heart still pounding.
He swore never to ride with this terror of a driver again unless absolutely necessary.
Kanzaki Rin drove like she was rushing to her own funeral, weaving through traffic like a wild beast let loose.
Even with his immortality, Fang Cheng’s nerves were frayed, half-expecting a single mistake to turn them both into road paste.
Wasting his limited number of lives here would’ve been a tragedy.
Kanzaki Rin shot him a glance as she exited the car, her faint smirk screaming *“That’s it?*” without a word.
Fang Cheng swallowed his anger—arguing with this maniac wasn’t worth it.
He still needed her driving tonight.
They reached the elevator, which required a key card. Inside, Fang Cheng gaped at the five subterranean floors beneath the garage.
“What is this place?”
“A training ground for the Disaster Countermeasures Department. Outdated equipment, rarely used.”
Kanzaki Rin pressed the bottom button. As the elevator descended, she added, “I found you a decent trainer. Keep your mouth shut around her.”
“Won’t my identity get exposed?”
Only Kanzaki Rin knew his vampire secret. Prolonged training would reveal his rapid healing, even at its slowest.
“She’s trustworthy. You’re just an intern with healing abilities now. Don’t die and blow your cover.”
Her tone dripped with barely concealed glee on that last sentence. Fang Cheng suspected she’d enjoy seeing him flattened.

The elevator opened to an empty corridor. Split into training areas and locked rooms, it ended where a towering woman greeted them.
“Rin! Long time!”
Fang Cheng’s first thought: *She’s a giant.* At 1.75 meters and still growing, he felt dwarfed by her 1.9-meter frame. Combat boots, camo pants, and a black tank top clung to her sun-baked skin, every muscle sharply defined. Her large chest muscles bordered on absurd.
Kanzaki Rin hugged her and turned to Fang Cheng. “This is Takeda Masumi. She’ll handle your special training for the next three days. Get acquainted.”
Takeda Masumi looked at Fang Cheng, her smile vanishing as rudeness took over. “Rin, this rookie you praise? Looks weak!” Her strong attitude overshadowed her beauty.
Fang Cheng frowned at her tone but offered his hand. “I’m Fang Cheng.”
Takeda Masumi smirked contemptuously. She grabbed his hand and squeezed hard.
Not from pain – he’d grown used to that – but her unexplained hostility puzzled him.
“Enough.” Kanzaki Rin stopped her. “We’re short on time.”
“Feeling protective already?” Takeda Masumi released Fang Cheng. “Follow me.”
They reached a boxing ring where she threw gloves at him. “Heard you want combat training? My method’s simple: real combat.” She donned her gloves, fists pounding together. “Quit now or endure till death once we start.”
Fang Cheng saw Kanzaki Rin watching from the sidelines. He removed his jacket and silently put on gloves.
When he didn’t react to her taunts, Takeda Masumi spat. “Ptui! Coward!”
Fang Cheng climbed into the ring. “Either you kill me today or I kill you. Get up here.”
Surprise flashed across Takeda Masumi’s face before she grinned wildly. “Interesting!” She vaulted into the ring, neck cracking. “Come at me! Show me your guts!”
Fang Cheng charged, throwing a straight punch. She dodged easily while her uppercut smashed his chin.
Thud!
He flew into the ropes, crashing down.
“That’s it?” She laughed. “All talk, no skill!”
Fang Cheng rose through the pain and attacked again.
Takeda Masumi bounced on spring-like legs, mocking between dodges. “Decent speed, predictable moves. Dumber than monkeys! Where’s that big mouth now?”
Fang Cheng’s growing frustration left openings. She knocked him down again.
Kanzaki Rin left, uninterested in the beating. She’d brought Takeda Masumi to boost his fighting power fast – only this woman could do it. But first he had to survive her inhuman training. 99% of Disaster Countermeasures Department interns ended hospitalized, explaining her exile to this dump.
Takeda Masumi’s roar echoed as Kanzaki left: “Stop playing dead! Stand up, man!”
Fang Cheng didn’t notice. His focus locked on words in his vision:
[Combat Training +1]
