Gao Jing arrived in Huhai a little past nine in the evening.
For some in this massive metropolis, it was the end of the workday, while for others, the exciting nightlife hadn’t even started yet.

Using his fingerprint to unlock the door, he quietly slipped inside the house.

Ji Yu’s head appeared over the railing of the second floor. “You’re back?” she asked, surprised.
Gao Jing was speechless. “Am I not allowed to come back?”
“No, no,” his Senior Schoolmate’s face flushed slightly. She hurried down the stairs, complaining softly. “You didn’t tell me you were coming back.”
She pointed towards the bathroom, lowering her voice. “Sis Qing is here.”
“Eh…”
Gao Jing said, “I’ll go shower upstairs then.”
Ji Yu smiled and pressed her lips together. She stood on her tiptoes and gave him a quick kiss. “Come back down after you shower,” she said. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
Gao Jing nodded. “Okay.”
He went upstairs, showered, changed into fresh, clean clothes, and came back down.
He saw Qin Qing and Ji Yu sitting on the sofa watching TV. “Sis Qing,” he greeted.
Qin Qing’s face was flushed pink, her eyes bright. Whether it was from her recent shower or lingering shyness, she looked exceptionally charming and captivating right now.
Juxtaposed with Ji Yu’s beauty next to her, each perfectly complemented the other.
She subconsciously sat up straighter, looking a little embarrassed. “Sorry for intruding.”
Gao Jing chuckled. “Nonsense. I should be thanking you for keeping Senior company. Honestly, I was a bit worried leaving her alone.”
Hearing this, Ji Yu couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Afraid I’d run off with someone else?”
Gao Jing grinned. “Would you?”
His Senior Schoolmate let out a derisive sniff. Tilting her head away with feigned arrogance, she hugged Qin Qing’s arm instead. “What do you think?”
Qin Qing sighed: “Could you two maybe not flirt like this right in front of me?”
Ji Yu stuck out her tongue.

Right at that moment, Nine Apertures suddenly darted out from the side and leaped into Gao Jing’s arms.
It rubbed its head affectionately against his chest.
Gao Jing sat down on the adjoining sofa, holding the cat and giving it a couple of strokes. “Didn’t you say there was something you needed to tell me?”
“Xiao Jiu,” Ji Yu opened her arms wide. “Come to Mama.”
Gao Jing had no choice but to pass Nine Apertures over.
Ji Yu took the cat, gave it a kiss, then looked at Qin Qing beside her. “Sis Qing?”
Qin Qing nodded. She fixed her gaze intently on Gao Jing. “I heard about what happened over there, Gao Jing. I took the initiative. I asked Big Brother to give a warning to the Cao family. Cao Wenbo has already admitted his mistake and promised not to cause any more trouble.”
“Furthermore, as an apology, the Cao family will help push through the approval for your personal Charity Foundation.”
Gao Jing looked at Ji Yu. He sensed his Senior Schoolmate must have spilled the beans.
Ji Yu seemed guilty under his gaze. “I… I wasn’t planning to tell Sis Qing.”
Because Gao Jing had specifically asked her not to tell Qin Qing earlier.

She spoke with such conviction that Gao Jing felt like he’d genuinely messed up. “Sis Qing, you overstate it.”
Qin Qing smiled softly. “It’s fine now. You don’t need to worry about the Cao family anymore. If Cao Wenbo dares to go back on his word, I’ll make sure he regrets it for the rest of his life!”
Her final words were delivered firmly, radiating strong confidence and pride.
Gao Jing felt a wave of resignation.
Honestly, when he’d returned to Huhai this time, he’d been prepared to ensure Cao Wenbo wouldn’t get a chance to regret anything.
But Qin Qing and the He family had stepped in, getting Cao Wenbo to apologize and offer compensation.
This made it awkward for Gao Jing to take any further action now.

Gao Jing glanced at Ji Yu and saw her nodding frantically. He smiled. “Alright. Well then, I’ll entrust this Charity Foundation to your care from now on, Sis Qing.”
Honestly, handing the Charity Foundation over to Qin Qing was the most reassuring option.
