Chapter 53: Alpha-7
Chapter 53: Alpha-7
When Lan Mu was causing chaos at the stadium, a satellite quickly locked onto him.
At the edge of a Tropical Rainforest east of Kuala Lumpur, there was a recreational vehicle.
Four men wearing different clothes, but all with umbrella-shaped badges on their chests, were operating eight computers.
Suddenly one of the men shouted, “Found it! Seventy kilometers from us!”
Bai Ze rushed into the RV and saw that all eight computers had locked onto the same location, showing the Kuala Lumpur stadium from different angles.
These four men were members of the CANC Tracking Task Force. They were using satellites to search for traces of the Nine-tailed Fox.
They were using a satellite network launched by CANC itself, which could detect almost everywhere on Earth’s surface.
“It actually left the rainforest. Why didn’t the satellites spot it earlier?”
Bai Ze noticed the Nine-tailed Fox had appeared inside the Kuala Lumpur National Stadium. Because the building covered it, they could only see the humanoid Fox Demon on the signage from an oblique angle.
“It’s humanoid! The earlier intel said it was a fox, didn’t it?”
One member of the Tracking Team answered, “Based on tail comparison, it does match the earlier intel, but it’s missing one tail. Maybe it has the ability to transform into human form?”
Bai Ze exclaimed, “The ability to transform into human form? This kind of Containment Artifact is too dangerous! It must be contained immediately!”
“Head downtown immediately!”
“Containment Task Force, follow me!”
Bai Ze directly boarded a helicopter. On the ground, two pure black cars also sped off at high speed.
On the way, Bai Ze held a communication device that continuously updated with scenes captured by the satellite.
“It indeed has powerful mind-interference abilities. It really is too much like the Fox Demon from legends. On the surface, it’s a beautiful girl, but its true form is a sinister Fox Demon!”
“Hmph! We’re going to intercept!”
Thirty minutes later, Bai Ze received the latest update.
“What? The Containment Artifact is missing? Wasn’t the satellite locked on the whole time? Why did we lose it? Did it enter a building?”
By now, the helicopter had arrived first, already over the city sky, and was continuously approaching the National Stadium.
“It entered the office building near the stadium and never came out?”
Bai Ze’s eyes lit up. He immediately ordered the helicopter to head straight for the office building.
He openly had the helicopter descend, flying low over the downtown traffic lanes.
“Satellites, monitor this entire office building. Confirm the target hasn’t left.”
“Immediately take over this building’s security room. Pull up the footage from after the Fox Demon entered.”
Bai Ze commanded from the helicopter. The two pure black cars soon arrived as well. Eight personnel in blue uniforms got out, holding silver guns of strange design, and quickly rushed into the office building.
Ten minutes later, Bai Ze’s face turned ashen.
“How can it not be there? A blind spot in the cameras?”
“Did it just vanish into thin air?”
For the first time, Bai Ze felt he was dealing with such a cunning and troublesome Containment Artifact. Since he started this job, he had never encountered an artifact with such a high level of intelligence.
In the entire CANC organization, over a hundred years, only three intelligent Containment Artifacts had been discovered. One was destroyed, and the other two had intelligence equivalent to adult humans: K-682 and Ω-34.
682 posed extreme danger and was temporarily contained in the Deep-Sea Prison. 34 was more docile and contained in a secret base unknown to most.
The newly discovered 953, the Nine-tailed Fox, also possessed human-like intelligence. This containment operation was a major challenge for Bai Ze, the Southeast Asia director, but also a huge opportunity.
“Bai Ze, a special radiation signature has been detected. It matches the radiation chromatogram found at Dahan Mountain. It confirms 953 was here. The radiation trail goes from the stadium all the way to this office building. The radiation disappears in a men’s restroom on the first floor. The cameras also show 953 last entered here, but it never came out.”
“Additionally, there’s another major discovery. While 953’s radiation trail disappears after entering the men’s room, a second type of radiation was found here. Based on the detected residual trail, this radiation left from the men’s room, exited the building, and finally vanished in an alley.”
Bai Ze’s eyes lit up. “You’re saying 953 can also turn invisible, then escaped from here without us noticing? And that’s why its residual radiation changed?”
The reporting Tracking Task Force member nodded. “That’s one way to understand it.”
“And the place where the radiation vanished? Did the satellite capture anything there?”
The Tracking Task Force member shook his head. “No. The satellite didn’t pay attention to that kind of location, so…”
Bai Ze clenched his fist tightly. “It can even turn invisible… and the radiation vanished into thin air too. What exactly is masking its radiation?”
The Containment Task Force captain walked over at that moment.
“Bai Ze, containment has failed. I suggest you apply to use Alpha-7,” the Containment Task Force captain said coldly.
“You… use Alpha-7? Its authorization level has been raised. It requires at least one BOSS’s approval,” Bai Ze pondered.
“I’m just suggesting. Looking at the current situation, you won’t succeed in containing it. According to organization regulations, upon successful containment or definitive containment failure, the Task Force must disband and withdraw immediately.” The Task Force captain looked at Bai Ze’s grim expression and said, “If you don’t have a better containment measure, I will refuse your temporary command authority.”
Bai Ze looked at him, took a deep breath, and pulled out a satellite phone, connecting to an unknown person.
“BOSS, the Containment Artifact is extremely cunning, hiding in Kuala Lumpur. I request permission to use Alpha-7 to obtain the target’s location.”
“You know the cost of Alpha-7, right? Its uses are limited. You have one minute to state your reasons,” the person called BOSS said indifferently.
Bai Ze took a deep breath and began explaining his reasons.
“953 possesses intelligence no less than a human’s… formidable camouflage abilities, can transform into human form, large-scale mind interference… it can even turn invisible.”
“The object is hidden within human society, posing extreme containment difficulty. I hope to obtain 953’s exact location to ensure successful containment.”
The BOSS was silent for five seconds, then suddenly said, “Request approved. Channel 3777γ133, password 6267CCGSQ233. The password changes every minute. You don’t have much time.”
With that, the BOSS hung up.
Bai Ze hurriedly used the phone to dial 3777γ133.
It connected in one second. A cold female voice said, “Password.”
Bai Ze hurriedly reported the password. After a moment, the female voice said, “Alpha-7 is ready. State your request.”
“I wish to foresee the specific location of the object Bai Ze is currently attempting to contain, namely 953.”
“The reply is: ‘Southeast Asia, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown entrance’. This Information will be erased in three minutes.”
“Beep, beep, beep…” One minute was up. The connection was cut.
Bai Ze let out a sigh of relief. As soon as he hung up, he immediately took out his phone and frantically typed numbers. The combination and order of the numbers seemed random.
After finishing the numbers, he immediately got into one of the pure black cars and started speeding away. He ran several red lights along the way, heading straight for the destination, Chinatown.
Three minutes passed quickly. He was still very far from Chinatown.
He suddenly slammed on the brakes, got out of the car, and vomited. Then he looked around in confusion, not knowing why he had come to this place.
Bai Ze felt he had forgotten many things. With a puzzled look, he got back into the car and checked the navigation, but found no navigation target set.
The Task Force captain following closely behind arrived. “Is it here? You stopped.”
Bai Ze was stunned for a moment and asked, “What’s here? Why am I here?”
The Task Force captain was also stunned and immediately said, “You used Alpha-7, then typed a string of numbers into your phone and immediately drove off.”
“Oh! I get it.” Upon hearing this, Bai Ze understood what had happened.
He took out his phone and looked at the numbers he had typed earlier. He quickly deciphered them. It was precisely the words: “Southeast Asia, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown entrance.”
“This is the answer. Let’s go! To Chinatown!”
Although the Task Force captain knew of Alpha-7, he had never used it and didn’t know its cost.
He asked curiously, “You seem to have memory loss? What exactly is Alpha-7?”
Bai Ze seemed unwilling to reveal too much and just brushed it off. “Yeah, it’s just a diary, really. I do lose my memory.”
“Don’t ask for specifics.”
