Chapter 497: Don’t Come Closer or I’ll Kill Him
Chapter 497: Don’t Come Closer or I’ll Kill Him
The bald man kept watching the screen while answering, “The experiment began. Oli and the others have taken ‘Divine’ and the serum’s working.”
This wasn’t just a trap—it was also the Gates of Heaven’s test for their core product’s effectiveness.
The voice on the phone asked with interest, “Is our visiting Blood Emperor scrambling around in panic?”
He didn’t bother to move.
Seeing Fang Cheng standing motionless under Oli’s wild attacks, the bald man offered a tactful reply: “He might’ve been poisoned and can’t move freely.”
“Hahaha!”
A harsh laugh crackled through. “Record the whole experiment. I’m curious, and so is the doctor.”
“Understood.”
The bald man pocketed his phone only after the call ended.
Staring at the screen, he muttered, “Emperor or not, we can make endless warriors.”
Oli, injected with ‘Divine’, now neared S-level power—ace-tier strength.
Though the serum had severe side effects, successful trials meant mass production.
Who needed strategic-level forces? Enough aces could drown any enemy.
Fang Cheng hadn’t fought back yet because he’d noticed their injected serums.
Oli’s fighting power had jumped from Hazard level A+ to near-ace after injection.
Fang Cheng wanted this strength-boosting serum—for himself, Takeda Masumi, or Nangong Saye.
Both women had begged him to help them get stronger.
Their limited potential meant no amount of exercise worked; they needed external help like drugs.
So Fang Cheng waited, observing for side effects.
But Oli grew impatient with Fang Cheng’s passivity. Spreading bat-like wings, he lunged, claws sharp enough to shred metal.
When the claws touched Fang Cheng’s chest, a horrific return force erupted.
Oli’s arm twisted, bones snapping as muscles tore. Blood sprayed as the shockwave ripped through his shoulder and body.
He flew backward as fast as he’d charged.
The watching bald man’s eye twitched violently.
What ability was this?
Oli tumbled across the ground before staggering up, glaring at Fang Cheng with fury and fear.
“What…is this?”
He felt a terrifying return of energy from Fang Cheng’s body—mere contact had wounded him.
“Figure it out yourself,” Fang Cheng sneered. “You think you can avenge Isis? She’d bust out of her coffin laughing.”
Oli’s life goal was avenging Isis. These words poured oil on his rage, burning away all reason.
“Shut up!”
Enraged, Oli instantly transformed into a massive swarm of bats, dark storm clouds filling the ceiling of the space.
Countless bats poured from above, swarming over Fang Cheng as they bit him nonstop.
The bald man’s eyes gleamed with anticipation—he’d seen these bats’ destructive power before. Their sharp teeth and claws carried corrosive energy, capable of devouring even the toughest alloys. A main battle tank would vanish in seconds.
Yet the bald man soon noticed: whenever bats touched Fang Cheng’s body, their teeth and claws snapped instantly.
Fang Cheng was testing Vector Control’s limits through these attacks. The ability lived up to its reputation as a close combat killer, its reflection threshold astonishingly high. While slightly inferior to Uehara Takashi, its Lv4 status already countered ace-level strikes.
Fang Cheng had also gauged Oli’s drug-enhanced limits—weaker than an ace, comparable to Kitakudo Shingen, who’d hidden underground before being taken out.
“If this is your best, it ends now.”
Where Fang Cheng’s voice reached, bats exploded. Loud pops echoed as thousands burst like red fireworks, showering the ground with gore.
The blood pooled, reforming Oli. He swung his claws, and the remaining blood surged up, engulfing Fang Cheng and crushing him into a ball.
*Bang!* The blood burst, revealing Fang Cheng unharmed.
“Did you skip breakfast? Weakling.” Fang Cheng raised his hand. “Now this is real power.”
Oli’s blood erupted outward, wrapping his bulky frame. His three-meter-tall body shrank to basketball size under the pressure. With Blood Source ability, Fang Cheng’s blood mastery exceeded all vampires below disaster level.
“You can’t kill me!” Oli’s voice boomed.
He lunged from Fang Cheng’s shadow, fanged jaws snapping at his neck—then froze mid-air. Glancing down, Oli found his shadow pinned by Fang Cheng’s.
Trapped by the shadow, Oli attempted to turn into bats again, but his blood rebelled once more.
“Everyone who’s said that to me ended up dead.” Drawing Child-Cutting Ankan from his shadow, Fang Cheng smirked. “Want a Longjiang pork ricebox or braised chicken one?”
Goosebumps prickled Oli’s skin as the blade’s lethal threat washed over him.
“I’ll devour you!”
He struggled desperately, but exhausted all his abilities and still couldn’t break free from Fang Cheng’s control.
Behind his furious crimson eyes hid deep-rooted terror.
Though Oli refused to acknowledge Fang Cheng as a vampire, the fight proved Fang Cheng’s overwhelming superiority.
“Only women get to devour me. Try being reborn as one next time.”
Fang Cheng pulled out his blade and stabbed Oli’s chest.
A vampire’s immortality relied on rapid regeneration, but the Child-Cutting Ankan nullified this power, turning him into normal human flesh.
The blade pierced Oli’s heart, stopping his healing. His robust heart withered rapidly.
“Isis…my…Queen…”
Oli’s fading vision conjured the goddess-like face of Isis.
He strained to reach for her image but remained paralyzed, uttering broken whispers until his final breath.
“Still crying for your goddess while dying? You’re the ultimate hopeless admirer.”
Fang Cheng yanked out the divine weapon, unconcerned about resurrection.
This blade had only failed against Isis herself – destroying this imitation ace-level vampire posed no problem.
He thrust his hand into the vampire’s chest, seizing the dying heart. Familiar warmth surged through his fingers.
[Energy absorption activated…]
[Life +18]
[Blood Bat +1]
[Shadow Leap +1]
[Steel Blood +1]
[Blood Control (Fragment 1/10) +4]
Eighteen extra lives, three skills, and several ability fragments emerged.
Fang Cheng already possessed Steel Blood. While Blood Control manipulated blood, it ranked below Tide of Blood.
Only Blood Bat transformation and shadow-teleportation seemed worthwhile.
As he examined the skills, another warm current entered his body.
Recognizing this sensation, he immediately checked his Evolution details:
[Evolution Lv1 (48/100)] – [Passion] – [Healing]
The new healing ability seemed redundant alongside his existing regeneration. Yet if developed to vampire-level recovery – regenerating from minimal tissue – it could conserve his limited lives.
Current fatal weaknesses in heart and head made this upgrade crucial despite initial appearances.
Nearby, Ye Yuqing stood over the dismembered black giant Jack, his corpse burning with black flames from her massive sword.
A scorched Medusa Erica dodged sword strikes desperately. Spotting Oli’s defeat, she grabbed the fallen Little Spider.
“Stop!” Erica choked the hostage, “Come closer and I’ll kill him!”
Ye Yuqing paused, not from concern but uncertainty about Fang Cheng’s plans.
The dangling Little Spider wheezed: “Erica…I treated you to dinner once…”
“Silence!” she snapped, unaware of Victor weakly aiming a handgun behind her.
“Let me go…I’ll seal my mouth and asshole forever,” the hostage bargained.
Erica tightened her grip: “Shut up!”
“Take Victor instead – his mouth’s worse!”
This made the aiming Victor pause…then lower his gun to keep playing dead.
Fang Cheng joined Ye Yuqing: “Using Little Spider as hostage? Really?”
Erica grimaced: “Stay back or he dies!”
Fang Cheng flicked a steel needle into the hostage’s forehead. The Little Spider went limp instantly.
Erica: “…”
