Chapter 471: The Fate of Mother’s Body
Chapter 471: The Fate of Mother’s Body
Kanzaki Rin ignored the useless fox, her gaze fixed on the distant suburbs. She had kept this position ever since Tsukimi Narumi left.
The nine-tailed fox patted her pockets but found no phone, remembering she’d dropped it at the Government Building.
Bored, she picked up a small rock and tossed it at the black flames in the air.
“Stupid woman! Rotten tomatoes and stinky eggs? How dare you scare me! I’ll make you regret this next time!”
When the rock touched the flames, they suddenly exploded upward into a huge blaze.
Kanzaki Rin whirled around. The nine-tailed fox put on an innocent face: “Wasn’t me!”
The flames died down, revealing the figures of Fang Cheng and Tsukimi Narumi.
The nine-tailed fox shivered, transforming into a little fox to hide behind Kanzaki Rin—hoping Tsukimi Narumi hadn’t heard her.
Fang Cheng’s eyes found Kanzaki Rin first. He smiled: “I’m back.”
Same words, completely different meaning now.
Kanzaki Rin stepped forward and hugged him tightly, eyes shut with glistening tears.
Everything she felt became just one phrase:
“Welcome home.”
Tsukimi Narumi watched silently, two emotions churning in her heart.
Not hers—they belonged to those two girls’ personalities.
Being forced to just watch… how frustrating.
The hug ended quickly. Though Kanzaki Rin had much to say, this wasn’t the time.
She let go and asked: “Isis?”
Fang Cheng shrugged. “Dead? Escaped? Either way, I won.”
“Won?!”
The nine-tailed fox’s jaw dropped behind them, eyes wide. “No way! That’s impossible!”
Though only sixteen years old (all spent in a cave), her true form’s memories meant her experience wasn’t lacking.
By those memories, facing Isis alone meant certain death for Fang Cheng—even miracles wouldn’t save him. That vampire erased miracles.
With Tsukimi Narumi’s help? At most, they could’ve held their ground. More likely lost.
She’d stayed this long just to watch the show, ready to flee with Kanzaki Rin any moment.
But they’d actually won?
This was beyond absurd—it was downright unbelievable!
She could only think Isis left because she forgot to turn off her gas. No way she’d been beaten!
Fang Cheng noticed her shock: “You didn’t run?”
The fox stood upright, paws crossed. “I keep my promises! We agreed to cooperate—I’d never abandon a partner!”
“Guess I overestimated you then.”
Fang Cheng clicked his tongue. “I thought a smart fox would’ve planned escape routes beforehand.”
“Obviously…”
The nine-tailed fox raised her chin, then snapped, “Wait, no! You bastard tricked me!”
Fang Cheng chuckled. With multiple abilities upgraded to level 4, his combat strength had surged enough to stop fearing the fox’s schemes. Much like Isis, overwhelming power crushed all opposition.
After returning from the construction site to the city, Kanzaki Rin went to retrieve people from shelters while stabilizing Mechanical City. Fang Cheng and Tsukimi Narumi retreated to the apartment alone to discuss Asaka Akihime and Ye Yuqing’s condition.
Unlike divine pretenders like Iyaya, Tsukimi Narumi sat rigidly on the living room sofa like a military officer. Fang Cheng served tea before sitting across her. “Show me your face?”
The hood came off without protest. Fang Cheng showed no surprise at seeing Ye Yuqing’s exact features – he’d already recognized the matching voice earlier. Though sharing the same body as the bratty girl, Tsukimi Narumi’s stoic demeanor and monotone voice created stark contrast.
“Now explain,” Fang Cheng pressed. “What’s happening with Akihime and Yuqing?”
“They bore my arrival,” Tsukimi Narumi stated evenly. “Soul tearing has begun. My power shields them for six months.”
“The soul stabilizer?”
“Marginally effective.”
Fang Cheng leaned forward. “If I revive them through life-trading deals, would that fix their souls?”
“One soul can’t sustain two personalities. Revival wouldn’t heal the tear.” The answer sank like stone in Fang Cheng’s chest – his final solution had failed.
“Any alternatives?” he asked without expectation.
“Heaven’s Door Cult.”
Before Fang Cheng could react, snow-white arms encircled him from behind, burying his head in ample softness. He whirled to find Isis grinning wickedly, fingers tilting his chin upward.
“Scared of little old me?”
Fang Cheng irritably pushed her hand away. “Don’t appear suddenly with that face next time, or I might not control myself and give you a punch.”
Clearly, this wasn’t Isis, but Iyaya. Only this woman with a twisted personality enjoyed showing up wearing someone else’s appearance.
Iyaya giggled. “Seems that vampire left a deep shadow in your heart.”
She vanished and reappeared on Fang Cheng’s other side, whispering seductively in his ear: “Should I strip her naked and toss her on the bed for you to ride?”
“Enough nonsense.”
Fang Cheng shoved Iyaya away. “What did she mean about the Heaven’s Door Cult?”
He only cared about Asaka Akihime and Ye Yuqing’s safety now, not interested in adult games.
Iyaya reappeared on his other side, still wanting to play her R-rated game.
“Hmph.”
Tsukimi Narumi snorted softly.
Iyaya glanced at her with disinterest and stopped teasing Fang Cheng.
She materialized on another sofa, crossing her legs in a relaxed position. “The Heaven’s Door Cult in North America has a way to solve soul tearing.”
Knowing Iyaya’s nature, Fang Cheng doubted she’d help him willingly. Her mentioning this method likely aimed to push him toward North America.
A realization struck Fang Cheng: “Is mother’s body there too?”
Iyaya smiled. “Correct. You can retrieve it while you’re there.”
Fang Cheng studied the two goddesses coldly, suspecting Ye Yuqing’s situation was a scheme to make him seek mother’s body.
Iyaya read his thoughts. “Don’t overthink. It’s coincidence. If gods order you to go, you can’t refuse – that’s a proxy’s responsibility.”
Her meaning was clear: she’d simply command him if needed, no need for tricks.
Fang Cheng remained wary. Perhaps their true target was Ye Yuqing.
As he pondered, Tsukimi Narumi spoke: “Depart quickly. I’ll accompany you.”
Fang Cheng nodded slowly. Without a solution, he had to agree.
“Another thing.”
He asked, “Soul tearing comes from your arrival. What’s the price for your direct help?”
He knew dealing with evil gods wasn’t cheap.
Tsukimi Narumi stated plainly: “Ye Yuqing will become my proxy. After death, she’ll enter Hell of Flames. Her soul is mine.”
Fang Cheng wasn’t surprised – his own soul was claimed by Iyaya for paradise.
With matters settled, Tsukimi Narumi vanished, her cloak and armor disappearing.
Iyaya smirked. “Your slowness disappoints me. You lack proper respect for gods. Maybe I need another proxy.”
Before Fang Cheng could reply, she disappeared.
He turned to the girl left behind after Tsukimi Narumi’s departure.
A warm, fragrant body immediately tackled him onto the sofa.
Asaka Akihime clung to Fang Cheng, face buried in his chest, quiet sobs shaking her frame. Unlike Kanzaki Rin who suppressed emotions, she couldn’t.
Fang Cheng gently stroked her hair, letting her cry it out.
Finally, she looked up. “Will… will things be alright now?”
Though they’d defeated Isis, fear lingered – what if danger returned?
Fang Cheng caressed her cheek. “Of course. If Isis returns, I’ll smash her easily.”
But her anxiety remained. She leaned closer, needing more comfort.
Fang Cheng obliged – the house was empty anyway.
After lengthy reassurance, Asaka Akihime finally calmed.
Holding her, Fang Cheng asked: “You heard my conversation with Tsukimi Narumi?”
She nodded. “She already told us the price.”
She cared less about costs than saving Fang Cheng.
“Don’t worry.” He tightened his embrace. “I’ll fix everything. If Tsukimi Narumi wants your souls, she’ll wait centuries.”
Asaka Akihime smiled, pressing her face against him.
