She knew this young man possessed Hazard level A strength, comparable to a monster – at least not inferior to her subordinate Bone Woman. Yet such person couldn’t withstand even a single look from Isis.
It might’ve been some special ability, but the result remained pure terror.
Looking at the giant hollow torn through the Government Building exposing the sky, the nine-tailed fox’s body shook uncontrollably.
She’d been careless. She should’ve escaped when she had the chance instead of lingering near these humans. If something went wrong today, she’d die too.
But the Killing Stone had finally awakened inside Kanzaki Rin. She couldn’t let Isis destroy it. This forced her to intervene.
Of course, if Isis truly decided to take action, the fox would immediately flee rather than risk her life.
Isis studied the nine-tailed fox’s fake-brave expression and smiled. “Since you insist, I’ll spare her.”
The fox exhaled in relief, her clothes soaked with sweat. Those few seconds of pressure almost made her turn and escape.

Since Sato Hayato got sent flying, the alarm sound kept blaring outside. Guards rushed toward the top floor until Kanzaki Rin’s call stopped their suicidal charge.
After hanging up, Kanzaki Rin sat motionless. The alarms finally ceased.
The nine-tailed fox relaxed slightly – perhaps Isis allowed this because she disliked interruptions.
This relief didn’t last. Black lines burst through the wall behind Kanzaki Rin, binding and yanking her backward.

The chair-occupied Kanzaki Rin got dragged through the shattered wall.
Staring at the hole, the dumbfounded nine-tailed fox pointed at herself. “Hey… what about ME?”
Clearly Kanzaki Rin got rescued, yet her allies didn’t bother helping the fox.

She turned slowly to see Isis finishing her tea. The woman then stood and disappeared.
After crashing through the wall, nearly a hundred meters of open sky stretched outside.
Kanzaki Rin sat bound tightly by black lines to her office chair as they plummeted downward.
When nearing adjacent buildings, the chair’s black lines shot out and drilled into their walls.
Harnessing the falling momentum, dozens of black lines swung her away like a pendulum, swiftly carrying her far from the Government Building.
The chair finally landed smoothly on a high-rise building’s rooftop cement ground.
Kamikawa Takumi stood waiting there.
Kanzaki Rin showed no surprise—only her brother could rescue her from Isis within Mechanical City now.
She ripped off the black lines and rose. “Brother, leave immediately! Warn Fang Cheng not to return. The Blood Queen wants him.”
“Impossible. My departure would let her take hostages.”
Kamikawa Takumi shook his head grimly. “I’ve sent Karei evacuation orders. Join them, find Fang Cheng outside the city. I’ll stall here.”
“Absolutely not!”
She spoke rapidly, “You can’t face the Blood Queen alone. Only with Fang Cheng’s help can you resist her. Your survival ensures ours.”
“Too late. Fang Cheng’s whereabouts are unknown. Your safety comes first.”
He slashed his pen through the air before she could argue. Fresh black lines coiled around her.
Kanzaki Rin strained against them—even her Level 4 enhancement power proved useless.
“Brother, don’t let Isis pick us off separately!”
“The situation forces my hand. No time for debate.”
Isis’s sudden ambush had left them scrambling. Fang Cheng’s absence removed their crucial fighting power, dooming any resistance.
Kamikawa Takumi understood his sister’s logic, but couldn’t risk loved ones becoming the Blood Queen’s hostages.
“Quite right.”
The siblings whirled toward the new voice. Isis smiled from the rooftop’s edge. “Perhaps capturing you both would simplify matters.”
Kamikawa Takumi shoved his sister over the ledge. “Go!”
Kanzaki Rin heard his command as she fell. Four meters from the Ground, black lines snapped sideways into building walls.
Their elastic tension halted her plunge. She easily broke free upon landing.
Gazing up at the rooftop through pained eyes, she knew her brother’s fate—staying meant near-certain death against Isis.
Her plan to unite both men had failed. Now she could only protect the Others per his final orders.
Turning to leave, she froze mid-step.
A beautiful blonde woman appeared before them. Her tall, alluring figure was wrapped in professional attire that radiated both grace and allure.
Kanzaki Rin didn’t know this woman’s name, only that she was one of Isis’s servants.
Coming to capture her?
Though usually confident in her abilities, Kanzaki Rin felt no certainty of victory against Isis’s subordinate. With her brother sacrificing his life to buy her escape time, she couldn’t waste this precious opportunity.
“Tamamo-no-Mae!”
Kanzaki Rin shouted suddenly: “Help me now if you want the Killing Stone, or I’ll kill myself before letting you reclaim it.”
She knew the nine-tailed fox had long coveted the stone within her body – this wasn’t just about sniffing its aura. The fox would surely follow to observe rather than leave.
True enough, the nine-tailed fox materialized on a nearby rooftop after the shout. Peering down, she complained: “I’m just here for the show. Don’t drag me into your dangerous mess!”
Kanzaki Rin kept her voice steady: “Help me unless you want the Killing Stone buried with my corpse.”
The fox shrugged: “It’ll drop when you die anyway.”
“Then keep watching.”
The retort left the nine-tailed fox speechless. She couldn’t let Kanzaki Rin die now – that would interrupt the Killing Stone’s crucial revival.
Eve looked up: “Tamamo-no-Mae. This is the Queen’s order. Will you interfere?”
The fox snarled: “I said I’m spectating! Are your ears broken? You dare threaten me?” She’d been meek around Isis because facing a disaster-level monster was hopeless, but wouldn’t tolerate orders from a vampire’s servant. Did this lackey think a legendary monster had no pride?
Seeing her chance, Kanzaki Rin whirled and fled.
Eve dissolved into a blood shadow giving chase.

The nine-tailed fox leapt from the roof, cratering the ground as she landed directly in Eve’s path. When Eve tried veering around, a massive golden tail slammed down, carving another pit to block escape.
The fox remained human-shaped but now sported vulpine ears and nine visible tails. Rolling up sleeves, she advanced on Eve: “Think I’m some pushover, bloodsucker?” Humiliation from cowering before Isis still burned – with the vampire queen distracted by Kamikawa Takumi, taking frustrations out on her servant seemed fair.
Eve warned calmly: “Cease. Have you considered opposing the Queen?”
“I’ll consider after killing you!” Another tail swung violently. If Isis retaliated, she’d just flee with Kanzaki Rin. Having escaped War Horseman before, dodging a vampire’s wrath over one servant seemed feasible. Once the Killing Stone fully revived, fear would be unnecessary.
Eve dodged the strike, surprised the previously timid fox protected Kanzaki Rin. With her target vanished, she abandoned pursuit to face the enraged legend before her.
