Chapter 62: The Missing Person
Chapter 62: The Missing Person
“Hmm… RPG… AK…” Zheng Yichen rubbed his chin as he looked at the two weapons laid out before him. Before he crossed over, he had looked up firearm principles online. Combined with this world’s knowledge of Alchemy and Engineering, figuring them out wasn’t too hard. As for memories, with the increase in his Mental Energy, he found that while he couldn’t recall every single detail of everything he had ever seen, he could remember the general ideas.
These firearms were made by Zheng Yichen using materials. As for making them through Magic Weapon Forging, the Magic Arms created by that magic were limited to melee weapons. Anything slightly more complex was out of the question, let alone something with the intricate internal structure of a firearm. Zheng Yichen could only make the physical object.
While Zheng Yichen was considering whether to add firearms into the Magic Weapon Summoning Book, a Ghostly Little Maid drifted over. Curiously, she picked up the RPG that Zheng Yichen had placed to the side…
“Well! Let’s test its performance first. Really, this thing actually can’t be used to create a summonable Projection…” Zheng Yichen muttered to himself, somewhat annoyed. Magic Arms could be easily loaded into the Magic Weapon Summoning Book purely because of their structure, which was completely made of Mana. This kind of physical weapon wasn’t so convenient.
The Mana consumed when a Magic Arm was summoned and used was a one-time cost. If it were a firearm, it could be modified so that firing a bullet required extra Mana! That would be a great way for the Magic Weapon Summoning Book to gather Mana! It was a shame it couldn’t be used like the Magic Arms.
As Zheng Yichen considered how to make a breakthrough in this aspect, his eyes casually glanced to the side. He saw the Ghostly Little Maid hoisting the RPG test version onto her shoulder. He was so startled he jumped up. “Wait! Don’t pull the trigger!!”
The Ghostly Little Maid turned her head to look at Zheng Yichen, somewhat puzzled. She had only managed to strike this pose because she had seen Zheng Yichen controlling an Alchemical Puppet do the same. She didn’t understand how to use the RPG, and certainly didn’t know how dangerous it was. So, as she turned her head, she foolishly pulled the trigger…
Boom—
The Ghost Maids who were cleaning the castle heard the tremendous explosion. They couldn’t help but look toward where the sound came from. One wall of the castle was scorched black and had gained several cracks. Knowing she had caused trouble, the Ghostly Little Maid let out a “Wah!” sound, threw the RPG she was carrying at Zheng Yichen’s feet, and ran off without a trace.
“…This wall is really sturdy,” Zheng Yichen said dazedly, staring blankly at the almost undamaged wall. The RPG’s rocket wasn’t made of pure explosive material. Zheng Yichen didn’t know the formula for that stuff. He could only try to mix an Otherworld version of explosives based on his Alchemy knowledge. Although it was an explosive, it contained Mana, making its power much stronger. This was just a test version, but its power was several times greater than the rockets from the world before his crossing.
But… it was useless. At the time, Zheng Yichen thought the wall would be blown apart. Instead, it just got blackened and gained a few cracks? That was it?
“Can I say this has nothing to do with me?” Zheng Yichen asked, looking at the several Ghost Maids who had come to demand an explanation. He nudged the RPG at his feet to the side with his foot, blinked his bright dragon Eyeballs, and spoke very innocently.
These Ghost Maids didn’t say anything. They just threw a large cleaning rag, big enough to wrap all of them up, in front of him. They also provided a large bucket of water…
“Alright, alright, I’ll clean it up,” Zheng Yichen sighed. He picked up the bucket of water and went to wipe the black marks off the wall, gathering the things that had been blown away by the blast wave. Regardless, Zheng Yichen had seen the power. It was much greater than the Fireballs he could conjure. If it hit him directly, it would really make him suffer.
And this was just the test version. The complete version’s power could be improved further. Moreover, the knowledge wealth in the Underground Library was truly vast. Digesting just a part of it had benefited Zheng Yichen greatly. Just based on Alchemy knowledge and the ideas brought by his Otherworld knowledge, for the RPG’s ammunition alone, Zheng Yichen could develop many versions.
In a world where Magic existed, the fired rockets wouldn’t just have fiery explosions. Ice blasts, thunder blasts, and more could all be achieved!
“Oh, thank you,” Zheng Yichen said, miserably scrubbing the scorch marks on the wall. He looked at the little head peeking out beside him and rinsed his rag in the bucket of water she held up. Seeing that he didn’t intend to pursue the earlier incident, the Ghostly Little Maid let out a long sigh of relief and gave Zheng Yichen a big, bright smile.
In Sta City, the appearance of the Magic Weapon Summoning Book had greatly impacted the sales of magical weapons here. People from other cities even came to Sta City specifically to get a Magic Weapon Contract. After selling a few original copies of the Magic Weapon Summoning Book at high prices on the Black Market, Zheng Yichen gave up on this method of profit. Doing this a few times was enough; doing it too often could bring trouble.
Besides, those few original copies had already brought him huge profits, making Zheng Yichen somewhat regret if he had been too casual when distributing those originals before.
After setting aside some gold coins for expenses, Zheng Yichen exchanged all the remaining profits for various materials. As for the means, Zheng Yichen had that too—it was the Tavern. Speaking of which, that Tavern was really incredibly resourceful. On the surface, it was just a tavern, but it was actually involved in quite a lot of businesses. The materials Zheng Yichen needed included many rare items that were hard to buy.
But through the Tavern’s channels, he quickly got what he wanted. Although he had to pay a higher price, compared to dragging things out and waiting, those extra costs weren’t a big deal.
While Zheng Yichen buried himself in research and invention, Petty was found by some people. By the time Zheng Yichen solved a difficult problem he encountered, he realized Petty had actually been missing for two days. He didn’t have any means of finding people, so he could only ask the server at the Tavern.
“Finding someone? We’re quite good at that too. But who are you looking for?” Zheng Yichen looked at the female server before him. Although she maintained her habitual smile, he could still see the subtle reaction contained in the expression of this server named Belin.
“A girl named Petty. I need to find her,” Zheng Yichen said in a low voice. Compared to the people of this world, Zheng Yichen knew deeply that his experience in dealing with people was too immature. By now, he had summed up one piece of experience: when doing certain things, try to say and do less to avoid revealing more flaws.
“I can help. But I need to know why you are looking for her,” Belin said.
Zheng Yichen thought for a moment. What Belin was asking for now was the price. If it were money, he wouldn’t mind. But now it was such a question, so he had to treat it carefully.
