Chapter 55: Turning Hostile Over a Disagreement

Teasing Mo Yunwu made Ling Yi quite happy.

Although the young girl was a bit tsundere, she had a kind heart and was as pure and innocent as a blank sheet of paper.

After seeing that Ling Yi’s guidance for Jiang Yuntong was truly effective, she quickly forgot her previous unhappiness and soon began to admire Ling Yi.

The change in a simple child’s thinking was that straightforward and direct.

Mo Yunwu also knew the White Crane Palm Technique and the Thirteen Swords of Pine Waves that Jiang Yuntong was learning, but she wasn’t as solid as him.

After Ling Yi’s simple guidance, both of them could feel they had improved a lot compared to before.

But in Ling Yi’s eyes, it still wasn’t enough.

These two had far too little actual combat experience.

Mo Yunwu wasn’t too convinced by this. She felt she had plenty of combat experience.

“When I was at the Sect, I was very diligent. I sparred with my senior brothers and sisters every day, and many of them were no match for me!”

The little girl wore an expression that said “I’m this amazing but I’m not being arrogant,” looking at Ling Yi. “If you don’t believe me, ask my senior brother. Sometimes even he can’t beat me!”

Jiang Yuntong was, after all, much more mature than Mo Yunwu. He awkwardly coughed a couple of times, really wanting to remind his junior sister that sparring within the Sect wasn’t actual combat; it didn’t even count as a real match.

Especially when facing Mo Yunwu, everyone just treated it as playing around with their little junior sister. Who would take it seriously?

Ling Yi ignored Mo Yunwu. With a kid like this, the more you tried to reason with her, the more she’d think you were lying to her.

He looked at Jiang Yuntong. “You saw that intense battle scene earlier. What are your thoughts on it?”

Jiang Yuntong thought for a moment and said, “It’s completely different from our usual training. It was too unpredictable; a slight lapse in attention could mean life or death. We never have the chance to witness such scenes in our daily lives.”

Ling Yi nodded. “Then think again: what are the problems with your White Crane Palm Technique and Thirteen Swords of Pine Waves?”

Qian Luoying sat quietly to the side, watching, a thoughtful expression appearing on her face.

She was finally beginning to understand where the problem lay.

What Ling Yi was teaching wasn’t just pure martial techniques, but combat skills combined with actual fighting experience!

And what she had taught was merely pure martial techniques.

Moreover, at her level, she could tell with just a few glances that even in pure martial techniques, Ling Yi was far more skilled than her!

For the Heaven’s Gate Sect, their practice of martial arts was almost solely for the sake of cultivation itself.

Discussing combat or life-and-death struggles? Such topics held no place within the Heaven’s Gate Sect.

In fact, they would even be looked down upon—

Fighting? Fighting whom? Who would dare invade our Heaven’s Gate Sect?

As a hidden sect, they were aloof and secure.

People in the mundane world didn’t even know which direction their gate faced, while other sects would never lightly start a conflict unless there was a mortal feud.

For thousands of years, except for the very few who had truly ventured into the world, almost no one in the Heaven’s Gate Sect had any sense of crisis.

There were many in the Heaven’s Gate Sect like Jiang Yuntong, who had practiced their palm techniques and sword skills to flawless proficiency, seemingly without any flaws.

But as Ling Yi said, once they encountered real combat, they would likely be defeated very quickly.

If it was just a spar, losing wouldn’t be a big deal, but if they were faced with a life-or-death struggle, what they’d lose would be their lives!

Although Jiang Yuntong’s talent wasn’t among the very top, his comprehension wasn’t low. He now understood what this “Uncle” meant.

Immediately wearing a humble expression, he bowed to Ling Yi and said, “Please teach me, Uncle.”

Ling Yi smiled. “This matter is easy to discuss. Come, let me first guide you on some flaws in the moves of these two techniques…”

“They’re so perfect, what flaws could there be?” Mo Yunwu muttered quietly beside them.

“Being too perfect is the flaw. Real combat isn’t a performance,” Ling Yi looked at her. “In a real fight, the enemy will never give you the chance to execute your moves gracefully and leisurely. In a life-or-death struggle, who would give you time to make an opening stance? Who would give you a chance to elegantly and gracefully finish a move? If you really dared to make such movements, someone would just kick you, and you’d go flying on the spot!”

Mo Yunwu: “…”

How ruthless!

Her dream of being a graceful, elegant heroine shattered on the spot. How heartbreaking!

The morning passed quickly.

Throughout this, Qian Luoying never interfered with Ling Yi’s training of her two beloved disciples.

Even she herself couldn’t help but listen and ponder.

In the end, she could only sigh in admiration: this young man Ling Yi’s actual combat experience was far richer than hers, someone who thought she had experience in the martial world!

The reason she felt invincible and unstoppable was simply that her cultivation realm was too high!

Walking the martial world with the realm of Dao Enlightenment’s third level meant the likelihood of encountering a true opponent was extremely low.

So before this, she had truly never considered: if one day she really met an opponent of the same realm, for example… if she encountered the Dao-Entering Expert Cai Chunming by Sun Qingbo’s side, could she… really defeat him?

Such a thought would never have occurred to her before meeting Ling Yi.

To some extent, she was actually quite similar to the unworldly Mo Yunwu. Deep down, neither of them held the mundane world in regard.

They both had an inexplicable sense of superiority.

Only when one day they were steeped in the dust of the mortal world would they suddenly realize—oh, I am just another member of this mundane world, never truly transcendent.

At noon, Gu Tong came looking for Ling Yi and saw him instructing Elder Qian’s two disciples while the Elder herself sat to the side, chin resting on her hand, watching quietly.

The scene was unusually harmonious, like a family of four…

Seeing Gu Tong, Ling Yi walked over. “I might need to go out in a bit.”

Gu Tong asked, “The Spirit Stones?”

Ling Yi nodded.

Gu Tong said, “Do you need someone from our side to go with you?”

Ling Yi shook his head. “No, it’s better for them to stay here and protect Qin Hao. Probably more people are watching this place. I’ll just go out with Sis Ying and the others.”

Sis Ying?

Gu Tong’s mouth twitched. Suddenly looking gossipy, he lowered his voice and whispered, “Brother, you don’t happen to like older sisters, do you?”

Ling Yi glared at him. “Get lost!”

Gu Tong laughed heartily and turned to leave.

In such a short time, she was already “Sis Ying.” In a few more days, would she become “Little Ying”?

This was really good news; he had to hurry and tell Qin Hao to make him happy too.

Whether she was an older sister or a little sister, gaining another Dao-Entering Expert was reason enough to be happy.

After lunch, around past one in the afternoon, Ling Yi finally received a call.

It was still that middle-aged man with the rich, magnetic voice.

“Brother, we’ve arrived in Mei City. We have the goods. You can come pick them up.”

He then gave Ling Yi an address.

Hanging up the phone, Ling Yi looked at Qian Luoying. “Let’s go out together.”

“Wow! Great! I’ve been wanting to go out for a stroll!” Mo Yunwu immediately cheered.

Qian Luoying frowned. “You’re not allowed to go. Stay home.”

Mo Yunwu’s face immediately fell, looking at Qian Luoying with a pleading expression, but the latter remained unmoved.

This wasn’t the Capital of Great Qin; this was the Chaos Zone!

Just because it was safe inside the manor didn’t mean it would be safe outside after leaving!

After the events of this morning, the last bit of pride in Qian Luoying’s heart was gone.

There were always people better than her, and skies beyond this sky. She wasn’t weak, but in a place like this, who dared to say they were the strongest?

If she could avoid trouble, she should avoid it as much as possible.

Mo Yunwu’s lively eyes darted around, and she suddenly looked at Ling Yi, pleading pitifully, “Uncle…”

Mo Yunwu was quite adorable when she needed help from others, her voice soft and sweet, enough to give anyone goosebumps.

Ling Yi looked at Qian Luoying and said, “Sis, have you forgotten what I told them this morning?”

Qian Luoying was slightly stunned.

Ling Yi said, “A young bird must eventually leave its comfortable nest. How can it soar high without facing the wind and rain outside?”

“Uncle says it so well!” Mo Yunwu praised him without blushing at all.

So, once you lose your dignity, you can never pick it up again.

Just like calling someone “Daddy”—there’s only once or countless times…

Qian Luoying glanced at Jiang Yuntong and saw that he too had a look of anticipation. She sighed softly in her heart, understanding that Ling Yi’s words made sense.

For now, she had no choice but to nod and agree.

Afterward, Ling Yi asked the person in charge here for an ordinary business car. Without a driver, he drove the car directly to the place they had agreed upon with the other party.

As one of the largest cities in the Chaos Zone, Mei City had a population of over ten million, yet its streets were not congested.

This was what set it apart from other major cities in other countries.

There were no fancy luxury shops on the streets here, the kind that looked grand and upscale at first glance… If anyone dared to open such a shop, it would simply be a gift for robbers and thugs.

There were also no restaurants or shopping malls, which should have been everywhere, for the same reason as above.

Of course, these shops weren’t completely absent. They were just concentrated in specific areas.

Only in those areas would they be protected.

Even so, violent incidents often happened.

Ling Yi drove the car, seemingly casually looking around, but he was actually memorizing the terrain and checking if anyone was following them.

Without even the Enchantress reminding him, from the time they left the manor until now, about ten minutes, Ling Yi had noticed at least three groups of people watching him!

There were two more groups he didn’t notice but were detected by the Enchantress.

It hardly needed much thought—they were probably all related to Sun Qingbo and his group.

As for this, Qian Luoying and her two disciples were completely unaware.

They all looked curiously out the car window, observing the sights outside.

Mo Yunwu whispered, “This place is different from the Capital of Great Qin. Why does it not look very prosperous? Huh? Master, look quickly—there’s a monster with a dog’s head over there!”

Qian Luoying followed Mo Yunwu’s gaze and indeed saw a short, dog-headed humanoid creature, no more than one and a half meters tall, walking slowly along the road by a building, dragging a furry, yellowish tail behind it.

The creature was very perceptive. The moment Qian Luoying and the others looked over, it turned its dog head toward them, its eyes glowing with an eerie Green Flame, staring at their car.

Mo Yunwu was startled and quickly looked away, whispering, “That scared me…”

Qian Luoying was also a bit shocked. The Demi-Human Race… this was her first time encountering one!

“They say there are Demi-Human Race members in the Chaos Zone, and it seems that’s true,” Ling Yi said while driving. “But, my dear niece, next time you come face to face with one, be careful with your words. You wouldn’t want it to bite you.”

“It scared me, though,” Mo Yunwu stuck out her tongue and defended herself softly.

The car soon drove away, leaving the dog-headed creature behind.

So, none of them noticed that the dog-headed creature watched their car for a long time, until it was out of sight. Then it sniffed the air and turned into an alley.

They arrived at the agreed-upon place—a grayish building that looked quite old, sitting in a small courtyard filled with flowers.

Several burly men stood at the entrance of the small courtyard and stopped the car.

One of the men approached the driver’s side. Ling Yi rolled down the window: “Here to pick up the goods.”

The man glanced inside, his eyes lingering briefly on Qian Luoying and Mo Yunwu. He said in a low voice, “Only one person is allowed inside.”

Ling Yi looked at him. “Your rule?”

The man glanced at Ling Yi coolly. “The rule here.”

Ling Yi picked up his phone, calmly looking at the man. “If I find out this isn’t actually the rule, you’re dead today!”

Inside the car, the master and her two disciples were all confused, wondering if they needed to be this aggressive.

The man’s eyes showed a flash of hesitation. His rough face twitched, and he reluctantly said, “Go in.”

Then, Ling Yi drove the car into the small courtyard, parked, and opened the electric sliding doors on both sides.

As Mo Yunwu was getting out of the car, the man walked over leisurely, seemingly reaching out casually, but his hand went straight for Mo Yunwu’s backside…

Thud!

A large foot kicked the man hard in the stomach, producing a dull thud.

The man flew backward and crashed into a bed of flowers, crushing the beautiful blooms into a mess.

“You think you can get away with that? If you want to die, just say the word,” Ling Yi said coldly.

Beside him, Mo Yunwu was so scared her face paled. Jiang Yuntong also looked nervous. Even Qian Luoying, who had reached the Dao Enlightenment Realm, was a bit stunned.

The man, kicked flying by Ling Yi, lay in the flowers. A fierce, beast-like glint flashed in his eyes, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Clearly, Ling Yi’s kick was no joke!

Qian Luoying looked at Ling Yi. “We shouldn’t…”

Ling Yi immediately turned his gaze to the gray building and started cursing, “Dammit, is this how you do business? Think it’s fun, huh? Screw this, I’m not taking it!”

He then looked at Qian Luoying and the others. “Get in the car. We’re leaving!”
