Chapter 120: Entering the Ruins

After extensive preparation, the mountain’s interior stood entirely hollow. Since it aimed to build Heavy Warships, the vast inside, including the underground areas, got excavated and organized.

“We dug about five hundred kilometers deep underground according to the blueprint. The mountain section primarily holds instruments; the main construction happens below.”

As Lei Yaotian approached the Ruins, he saw remnants of Heavy Engineering Robots along the path.

These scattered remnants lay strange and broken across the ground.

Lei Yaotian observed one fallen Engineering Robot remnant. Half its upper body melted away completely. Wires and parts spilled onto the ground outside it, showcasing the fierce firepower of the Ruins’ defense System.

“Such decisions are yours. I focus solely on results,” Lei Yaotian told 9527.

9527 nodded, dropping the subject.

They reached the Ruins’ Metal Gate.

Lei Yaotian saw a dark-red Metal Gate standing tall. Carved with patterns resembling Runes, the gate almost reached forty-five meters high.

Standing before it, Lei Yaotian felt incredibly small.

His focus then snapped to large characters on the gate, making his pupils shrink in shock.

The characters—Traditional Chinese words—stood clearly at the gate’s center.

“Atlantean Military Research Institute!”

A military lab didn’t surprise him; it was the eight Traditional Chinese words.

“What’s happening? Did an Ancient Civilization traveler precede me? Or pure coincidence?”

His mind raced. These characters came from his original World. Although using Traditional Chinese instead of Simplified, it still shook him profoundly.

“Zzzzt~ Zzzzt~~”

Several Heavy Engineering Robots stood near the Metal Gate, firing laser cutting rays from their shoulders. Sadly, the lasers couldn’t damage the gate at all.

Seeing this, Lei Yaotian thought, “If I could master that metal’s recipe and technique, my Warship’s defense would increase fifty percent!”

“Max power output! Can’t you cut one metal door?!” 9527 yelled at the busy Heavy Engineering Robots.

The yell worked; the lasers grew slightly stronger from their shoulders.

Still useless against the metal.

Lei Yaotian walked around the gate’s base.

“So Atlanteans were very tall? That explains this gate’s height.”

After circling with no findings, Lei Yaotian stared up, reflecting.

“9527, order them to stop. This metal gate is too tough. Your current tech probably can’t cut it.”

Lei Yaotian had 9527 tell the Heavy Engineering Robots to cease wasting Energy.

“Do you know a way, Master?” 9527 halted them. Its boxy metal head swiveled, lightbulb-like eyes blinking at Lei Yaotian.

“Unclear, but I’ll try,” Lei Yaotian turned to Wangcai. “Can you link to the gate’s programs?”

Wangcai replied, “I’ll try. Not sure if possible.”

“Try. Behind this gate is an Atlantean military research institute. I miraculously recognize their writing. If you link me to the gate, I can operate it.”

“Young Master knows this civilization’s Ruins?”

Shock washed over Wangcai.

Seeing Wangcai stunned, Lei Yaotian improvised, “Yes. Seeing those writings woke something in my Genes—I intuitively understood them.”

His mystical explanation didn’t faze Wangcai. Master recognizing mysterious Atlantean text simplified everything.

Monica felt similarly. Whether Lei Yaotian recognized the text didn’t matter to her.

As for pitiful Audrey…her thoughts could wait…

Unlike Wangcai, Monica, or Audrey, Elder Mensa heard Lei Yaotian with different thoughts stirring inside.

Staring astonished at Lei Yaotian’s back, Elder Mensa suddenly felt serving him was the Star God’s plan.

“Genetically imprinted…recognizes Atlantean writing?” Elder Mensa eyed the gate’s characters, musing. “Could my Master be Atlantean’s descendants?”

Intelligent minds imagine vividly. Preconceptions made Elder Mensa believe this likely true.

“A descendant of the Ancient Civilization overlord—race that once ruled the Universe?” Becoming Lei Yaotian’s Slave suddenly felt advantageous.

Atlantean Civilization remained revered across the Universe. Though long gone, their legends persisted. Ruins emerged sporadically galaxy-wide, offering technological leaps for benefiting civilizations.

“If my Master truly descends from them…his future eludes imagination…” Elder Mensa spiraled into wild daydreams…

Meanwhile, Wangcai walked to the gate. Lifting his arms, ten fingers morphed into shimmering gold metal wires, stretching to link points near the gate’s writings above…

“Click~ Click~ Click~ Beepbeepbeepbeep~”

Connecting to the gate’s circuits, Wangcai’s back revealed a flip-out display panel, then a tiny keyboard before Lei Yaotian.

“Young Master, I’ve connected to the gate. You see everything clearly here.”

Lei Yaotian nodded. “Keep scanning its programs; I’ll check their content.” Wangcai’s new Liquid Metal body impressed him vastly.

“Ding-dong~ Dumdum!”

The display lit up, flashing lines of Traditional Chinese script code.

“Success, Young Master! I found the door-control program! But the words—I don’t know them!”

The screen showed two big characters:

“On/Off!”

(Simplified standing in for Traditional Chinese here!)

“Young Master recognizes them, right? Help choose!” Wangcai held arms high. Its head spun Wangcai-like 360°, eerily turning backward to face him.

“Hmm, this controls the gate: One opens it, one shuts it,” Lei Yaotian replied. He knew that Traditional Chinese anywhere.

Instantly, Lei Yaotian touched the (On) character on-screen.

“KAA-BOOOOM!!!!”

Contact made. The ground trembled. The Metal Gate slid open sideways, scraping rock with metal shrieks.

Unopened for so long, aging caused friction—luckily minor, since it moved without jamming.

Though the gate loomed huge, visible instruments inside were small—sized for Lei Yaotian’s height.

“Atlanteans probably weren’t giants. Likely normal-size, like me,” Lei Yaotian decided.

“Young Master! Not yet!”

Lei Yaotian almost stepped in. Wangcai stopped him.

“9527! Send ten small Robots to scout!” Wangcai ordered.

“Yes, Lord Butler!”

Ten small Engineering Robots filed into the Atlantean Military Research Institute.

Understanding Wangcai’s caution, Lei Yaotian regretted his rashness. “Young Master, exterior defenses lost Energy, but interior risks remain unknown. Caution is wise,” Wangcai explained.

Lei Yaotian felt pleased by Wangcai’s care and waited patiently.

Inside, the small Robots spread out, deliberately touching devices to trigger potential traps or defenses…

……

……

Half an hour later, the scouts reported back.

“Young Master, entry’s safe now. Interior scans show no detected defense weapons active,” Wangcai summarized for Lei Yaotian.

“Good. Let’s enter.”

Led by Wangcai, the group stepped inside the Ruins.
