Chapter 101: I’m Not an Idiot

Did this human want to enslave us?

Elder Mensa froze for a moment after hearing Lei Yaotian’s words.

“Compared to death, becoming slaves isn’t impossible. As long as we can survive, anything is acceptable.” Elder Mensa quickly weighed things up.

“We can be your slaves, but you must let us stay on this planet.” Though Elder Mensa spoke sincerely, Lei Yaotian saw deep reluctance in his eyes.

True, who would willingly become another’s slave?

Especially since, before this massacre, Mensa and his Iktans were star merchants with vast fortunes, living wild lives every day.

Lei Yaotian was no fool. He noticed.

Heh-heh. Lei Yaotian gave a fake laugh and waved his hand. “I think you misunderstood. I’m not asking you to be slaves. I want you to join my force as subjects!”

Mensa grew excited at this. Becoming subjects was far better than slaves.

“Is that true?”

Lei Yaotian nodded sincerely and smiled at Mensa. “I can’t lie to you—truly my subjects. In my homeland, you know, I’m a prince.” He spun this tale for the old Iktan.

Prince? He used to be just an otaku (shut-in).

Lei Yaotian’s face burned as he spoke.

“Then I agree to become your subjects.”

Elder Mensa stood up, preparing to bow deeply.

“Not so fast.” Lei Yaotian stopped him. “You think it’s that simple? I’m worried about your loyalty.”

He grinned slyly at Mensa.

Lei Yaotian wasn’t stupid enough to think he’d won them over this easily.

The loyalty issue needed fixing first. If not solved, he’d let Wangcai dispose of them.

“We swear by the Star God! We’ll give you all our loyalty!” Elder Mensa lifted his hand solemnly.

Lei Yaotian curled his lip dismissively.

“Empty promises mean nothing.”

Elder Mensa looked up. “Then what do you want? How can we prove ourselves?”

Wangcai, standing nearby, smirked and rose. “Simple enough. We have drugs to increase loyalty. Swallow them, and everything’s solved.”

Viewing that smug grin, Elder Mensa gritted his teeth.

“Fine! We’ll take the Loyalty Drug!”

Under the enemy’s roof, one must bow. Besides, those soldiers outside had weapons ready.

Who knew what these humans would do if he refused?

Staying alive beat dying.

Lei Yaotian waved. Two Artificial Human Soldiers hauled Mensa up again.

“Take him back to speak to his people. Those accepting terms get the injection. The rest… drag into the woods and dispose of.”

Wangcai’s voice was icy.

“Yes, Commander!”

The soldiers hauled Elder Mensa from the tent.

Once gone, Wangcai asked doubtfully, “Young Master, truly make them subjects? Why get subjects? Planning to play parenting?” He sounded baffled.

“What are you saying? Even if I played parenting, it wouldn’t be with them.” Lei Yaotian’s eye twitched.

“Then what are you thinking, Young Master?” Wangcai pressed.

He couldn’t grasp his master’s motives. They’d had a perfect chance to enslave them, yet Young Master suddenly wanted “subjects”? Ridiculous!

Besides, where was the “nation” to house these “subjects”? With just some hundred thousand stiff Artificial Humans?

Utter confusion.

Lei Yaotian glanced at Wangcai’s puzzled face and chuckled. “Strange why I’d take them as ‘subjects’ with no country?” Wangcai nodded. “Yes, very strange.”

Lei Yaotian stood and walked outside by the Lake. Staring into the clear waters, he reflected. “Truth is, I tricked them. Do you think I don’t know our situation? But I couldn’t say we’re rootless. Since they believe I’m from the Barren Star Domain, I played along.”

“They’d never willingly be slaves. So better let them be ‘subjects.’” He turned, smirking at Wangcai. “You know our real state. How could we take subjects? It’s just words. Once injected with our Loyalty Drug, won’t they be slaves anyway?”

“Just easier for them to accept than forced enslavement. But functionally identical.” Lei Yaotian grinned.

“If not for gaining information from them—their language and knowledge—I’d not care if they lived or died. I’m not an idiot.”

Wangcai snickered wickedly. “Aha! I knew the Young Master wouldn’t favor them.”

“But does your Loyalty Drug actually work?” Lei Yaotian pressed. Recently, in his makeshift lab, Wangcai had been tinkering until he developed this drug.

“Tests show promise. I experimented on genetic life forms in Cultivation Tanks,” Wangcai answered.

“Good. These beings know the outside World. Keeping them lets us learn about others. Essential since we’ll leave this Star Sector someday.”

Wangcai agreed. “Yes, we need that intel. And to study local knowledge and customs. I understand the Young Master’s plan.”

“Oh—how’s work on cracking the Saiyan Genes?” Lei Yaotian asked. A month had passed since giving those Genes to Wangcai. Success meant mass-producing “Saiyan” warriors from Genetic Human cultivation tanks.

Perhaps create an entire subspecies here. Call it the Saiyan Race.

Lei Yaotian fantasized.

He hadn’t considered how Saiyan’s monstrous power might alter this World—not that he’d worry.

After all… not his original World. Changing things brought no guilt. None.

Hearing more on Gene cracking, Wangcai frowned troubledly.

“It’s rough. Genetic Humans can’t withstand the energy in Saiyan Genes. Every injection or genetic change fails.” He sighed heavily.

“No matter. Keep researching. I never expected quick success; Saiyans are mighty. But persistence will win.”

Lei Yaotian knew Saiyan’s absurd strength and had braced for difficulty.

“Yes, Young Master.”

Wangcai bowed.

“Base construction nears completion. Shouldn’t we plan next steps?” Lei Yaotian turned serious.

Over days, lake-side mountains had been hollowed. Internal armor was done in weeks. Now wiring and instruments remained. Soon they’d occupy this Base.

Wangcai’s design included barracks for over 100,000 troops, plus huge training fields.

Shooting ranges, gyms, even rec areas were built.

Lei Yaotian’s quarters faced the Lake, along with a leisure platform against the cliff.

Most importantly—a receiver caught video signals from the nearby Divine Glory Empire, meaning entertainment!

For leisure-starved Lei Yaotian, this was bliss.

But not yet finished. He had to endure a few more days.

“So… Young Master decided to buy Warship Factories? Build our own?” Wangcai asked gravely.

Lei Yaotian grunted. “Must buy them—many factories. Need daily mass-production of hundreds of Heavy Warships. Only then are we secure.”

Wangcai goggled. Hundreds of Heavy Warships daily? How many plants? How many planets?
