Chapter 45: Give Me Three Hundred
Chapter 45: Give Me Three Hundred
“The price for this type of Artificial Human was quite high, almost five hundred thousand Credit Points per unit.” Dr. Rogue spoke seriously to Fatty Lei.
At the same time, Dr. Rogue felt quite uneasy inside. After all, he knew very well. The price for an Artificial Human was indeed a bit high, but the cost of the materials he bought was not cheap to begin with. Add in his own research and development, and the total price was bound to increase.
Just as Dr. Rogue had feared, after hearing this price, the corners of Fatty Lei’s mouth twitched.
You couldn’t blame Fatty Lei for being scared. He didn’t have many Credit Points to begin with. Besides, a single unit of Artificial Human actually cost five hundred thousand Credit Points. You should know, an unarmored civilian garbage spaceship only cost three hundred thousand Credit Points.
After hearing the price, Fatty Lei immediately lost interest in this second type of Artificial Human.
No other reason, simply because he didn’t have enough money.
He had to live within his means. Fatty Lei knew very well what his current capabilities were.
“We don’t need to discuss the third type.” Fatty Lei had no desire to continue listening. “For the first type of Artificial Human, I’ll buy three hundred.”
Fatty Lei decided to purchase three hundred of the first type of Artificial Human. The reason was simple: they were ‘cheap’.
“Before that, I need to ask clearly, do these Artificial Humans need to eat or anything?” Fatty Lei thought it better to ask clearly, to avoid future trouble after buying them.
Although Fatty Lei only bought three hundred Artificial Humans, which was far from what he had initially imagined, Dr. Rogue, holding the belief that even a small profit was still profit, remained very enthusiastic towards Fatty Lei.
“No need, no need. These Artificial Humans don’t need to eat. Their core is fully charged with Energy, enough to last them about a year.” Dr. Rogue said to Fatty Lei.
After listening to Dr. Rogue, Fatty Lei had a general understanding. “So these Artificial Humans are powered by Energy.” At the same time, Fatty Lei felt a little worried. Wouldn’t he have to buy Energy from Dr. Rogue in the future?
“It seems this Dr. Rogue says he isn’t good at business, but in reality, this guy has a whole set of business tactics. He even knows about bundle sales, selling Energy later on.” Fatty Lei couldn’t help but view Dr. Rogue more highly. “He’s really not simple.”
Fatty Lei was lost in thought and didn’t respond immediately.
On the other side, seeing Fatty Lei preoccupied, Dr. Rogue couldn’t help but worry that his Artificial Humans wouldn’t sell.
“Mr. Odin, is there something troubling you?” Dr. Rogue asked cautiously. He was very serious about this deal, even though Fatty Lei wasn’t a big customer. But Dr. Rogue believed in having a long-term vision. Who knew if Fatty Lei might become a big customer in the future?
Although Dr. Rogue was a researcher, he wasn’t stupid at all. He also knew about nurturing customer relationships, planning for the future.
Dr. Rogue’s probing brought Fatty Lei back to reality.
He smiled apologetically at Dr. Rogue. “Sorry, I was lost in thought.”
“It’s no problem. I wonder what concern Mr. Odin has?” Dr. Rogue tried to relax as he asked.
“I’m considering, if I buy the Artificial Humans, how will I solve the Energy issue later?” Fatty Lei put on a very troubled expression. “This is a real headache. I don’t know if the Energy I have over there can be used on the Artificial Humans. After all, my place and yours are two different Worlds.”
“I create and sell Artificial Humans precisely to ultimately sell Energy Crystals. That’s my final goal. Otherwise, who would do such a thing?” Dr. Rogue thought to himself.
But these words couldn’t be spoken out loud; they could only rot in his stomach.
Dr. Rogue looked at Fatty Lei with a relaxed, smiling face and said, “That’s a small matter, easily solved. Later, when the Artificial Humans’ Energy runs out, Mr. Odin, you can come to me to purchase Energy.”
Fatty Lei looked at the smiling Rogue and thought, “I knew you would say that. Actually, selling Energy is the ultimate goal. Just like in my original world, those arms dealers selling weapons; the real money is in the bullets.”
Artificial Humans were like guns, and Energy was like bullets.
Fatty Lei understood this very clearly.
But right now, he really needed manpower to protect his Farm, so he didn’t care about this point.
Besides, the Artificial Humans themselves had enough Energy to last a year. It was hard to say if these Artificial Humans would even still exist after a year. You should know, the Xenomorphs and Bugs around the Military Outpost were not easy to deal with.
Plus, the Planetary Storms and the scorching morning temperatures were all objective factors threatening these Artificial Humans.
So Fatty Lei felt that within a year, he would probably need to buy Artificial Humans again. There was simply no need to purchase more Energy, completely unnecessary.
Still, Fatty Lei asked about the price of Energy.
“What is the price for the Artificial Humans’ Energy?”
“Six Credit Points per cell.” Dr. Rogue replied.
Fatty Lei had no concept of how much one cell of Energy was, as it was a conversion unit from another World.
Fortunately, Dr. Rogue provided an explanation.
Dr. Rogue said to Fatty Lei, “Each Artificial Human has an Energy bar code on their body, with ten cells…” Once Dr. Rogue said this, Fatty Lei understood perfectly well. So Fatty Lei inwardly cursed Dr. Rogue for being a cunning businessman.
“Energy for ten cells would be sixty Credit Points. The Energy is more expensive than the Artificial Human itself. That’s just too outrageous.” Fatty Lei inwardly sighed, thinking Rogue really knew how to do business.
But on the bright side, Fatty Lei thought that one cell of Energy could power an Artificial Human for a year.
“Give me three hundred Artificial Humans to try out.” Fatty Lei said. “If they work well, I’ll buy in large quantities.”
Fatty Lei also drew a big pie for Rogue.
“Good! I’ll arrange it right away.” Fatty Lei’s last sentence made Rogue very excited. “So Mr. Odin is just testing them out. If they work well, he’ll buy in bulk later.”
Fatty Lei was just putting on a front, not wanting Rogue to look down on him, so he said it casually. But Dr. Rogue misinterpreted it, thinking that Fatty Lei wasn’t unwilling to buy more Artificial Humans, but rather wasn’t confident in the product and needed to test it first.
“Mr. Odin, these Artificial Humans are the fruit of my hard work. Once you use them, you’ll understand. Please consider future patronage.” Dr. Rogue called over No. 89, who was standing not far behind him, gave her some instructions, then turned back and said to Fatty Lei with a smile.
Fatty Lei crossed his legs, looking incredibly boastful.
“Don’t worry, Dr. Rogue. As long as these Artificial Humans are easy to use and obedient, I will buy from you in large quantities in the future.”
Fatty Lei also called Wangcai over. “Transfer the money to Dr. Rogue.”
Fatty Lei put on a very showy act, adopting the airs of a Master as he gave orders.
“Yes, Master.” Wangcai replied very respectfully.
Dr. Rogue looked at Wangcai and asked Fatty Lei with some uncertainty, “Mr. Odin, please forgive my bluntness, but who is this?”
“Oh, the Intelligent Butler the System gave me.” Fatty Lei introduced very casually.
A look of envy flashed in Rogue’s eyes, which made Fatty Lei very pleased.
Wangcai had previously told Fatty Lei that not every Merchant had an Intelligent Butler like him. It was like winning a lottery; it depended on luck.
But as for why Dr. Rogue seemed so envious of him, Fatty Lei thought it might be envy for his good luck.
Actually, Fatty Lei had no idea that Dr. Rogue envied the other abilities the Intelligent Butler possessed.
“I really didn’t expect this guy’s luck to be so good. He actually got an Intelligent Butler gifted by the System. This is something many Merchants dream of having.” Dr. Rogue’s eyes shone with a complex mix of envy and admiration.
But Rogue stared at Fatty Lei for a while and noticed that Fatty Lei didn’t seem particularly excited about having gotten an Intelligent Butler.
“Could it be that he doesn’t know the Butler’s uses?” Rogue thought in surprise.
“Mr. Odin, don’t you know the benefits an Intelligent Butler brings? You seem very calm about it, which I really admire.” Dr. Rogue sat up straighter and spoke to Fatty Lei slowly.
Hearing this, Fatty Lei was stunned. He really didn’t know what benefits Wangcai could bring him. But it seemed Wangcai had some Combat Power, able to deal with many Xenomorphs and ensure his safety.
And that was about it.
“What other functions could there be? It seems Wangcai has some Combat Power and can guarantee my safety.” Fatty Lei replied to Rogue, somewhat strangely.
“May I ask what rank Mr. Odin is currently at?” Rogue asked again.
“No rank.” Fatty Lei shook his head and replied.
“What!” Rogue’s eyes widened as he stared at Fatty Lei, as if he had seen a prehistoric beast. “Mr. Odin is still a Novice Merchant.”
Fatty Lei didn’t understand why the fact that he was a Novice Merchant made Rogue so shocked and dramatic.
“Yes, I’m still a novice. I’ve been a Dimensional Merchant for less than ten days. Why?” Fatty Lei looked at the shocked Rogue and said.
“No wonder, no wonder.” Rogue said while looking at Fatty Lei. “So Mr. Odin is still a newbie. No wonder he doesn’t know much about the benefits of an Intelligent Butler.” Now Dr. Rogue understood.
Fatty Lei showed a curious expression and stared at Rogue. “There are many types of Intelligent Stewards; they are given randomly by the System. Apart from that, are there any other special features?”
Rogue nodded and replied, “Of course there are, but I’m not very clear about them either. These benefits only appear as the Merchant’s own level increases.” Rogue answered with a face full of envy.
