Chapter 42: Rogue’s Shop
Chapter 42: Rogue’s Shop
Pondering just what countless gazillions of dimensional planes meant, Fatty Lei thought long and hard before concluding simply: “a lot”…
Wangcai had only vaguely mentioned this astronomical number. Of course, Fatty Lei wouldn’t idly wonder about the exact figure. But judging by Fatty Lei’s reasoning, the merchants within the dimensional system likely occupied even more planes than that number.
Given this context, ten thousand Fantasy Dimensions ranked among them truly seemed insignificant.
Moreover, Wangcai mentioned this Fantasy Dimension couldn’t be directly searched for in the system. It entirely relied on blind luck stumbling upon it, making it exceptionally and pointlessly precious.
Setting aside other factors, just the fact that products from a Fantasy Dimension could ignore a full fifty percent of Plane Rules Suppression was enough to drive many Dimensional Merchants wild.
“So, I’m really lucky, huh?” Fatty Lei asked Wangcai, clearly not fully grasping the implications.
Wangcai nodded furiously. “Luck? Master, your luck is practically heaven-defying!” Data streams flashed incessantly across Wangcai’s eyes. He could scarcely believe his random search had actually pulled up a shop from a Fantasy Dimension.
It felt like winning the lottery, entirely luck-based.
Fatty Lei’s head, however, didn’t spin from Wangcai’s words. Primarily because Fatty Lei still didn’t grasp what this truly signified. He gazed calmly at Wangcai. “Honestly, this Fantasy Dimension shop seems pretty unremarkable to me right now. First off, I don’t have many Credit Points, so I can barely afford any good stuff. Plus, who knows what type of Fantasy Dimension this is? What if it’s a totally tragic one? Wouldn’t that just make my situation worse?” Fatty Lei’s mind was sharp on these points.
“So, maybe you should dial back the excitement.” Fatty Lei felt Wangcai’s frenzy was a bit excessive.
Hearing this, Wangcai had to admit truth dawned on him.
“That’s true. Even though it’s a Fantasy Dimension shop… who knows what goods they sell? If they only offer useless junk, it wouldn’t help us at all.” Slowly regaining composure from his initial excitement, Wangcai acknowledged Fatty Lei’s solid logic.
This moment even sparked a sliver of awe in Wangcai towards this Master, who seemed remarkably unflappable. Wangcai genuinely felt a twinge of admiration inside…
Little did Wangcai know, Fatty Lei had zero clue about the sheer absurdities inherent in Fantasy Dimensions. Even after the brief explanation earlier, lacking any personal experience, Fatty Lei just couldn’t fathom the finer points.
Thus, Fatty Lei managed to keep his cool.
“Let’s just visit the shop. How rare the Fantasy Dimension is feels pretty moot for us. Right now, finding a place that sells useful goods is what matters most.” Fatty Lei waved dismissively at Wangcai.
“You continue to amaze me, Master!” Wangcai immediately launched into his Divine Art of flattery. “Your words are pure pearls! My previous Master? He’d have probably fainted from shock by now!”
Memories of his last Master surfaced.
“He was him, I am me. Besides, that guy’s long gone.” Fatty Lei saw no point in comparing himself to Wangcai’s former owner.
Wangcai tapped the display screen. A milky white light enveloped them both.
After a few flashes, Fatty Lei and Wangcai materialized inside this Fantasy Dimension merchants’ shop.
“Rogue’s Shop.” Similar to Fatty Lei’s own place, every shop bore a name. Fatty Lei glanced up at the signplate, reading it softly.
“So the owner. I guess we call him ‘Rogue’ now?” Fatty Lei figured, like himself using ‘Odin’ within his Dimensional Trading Device and naming his shop ‘Odin Shop,’ Rogue was likely another alias.
Stepping inside, Fatty Lei instantly noted how starkly different the style was from his own place.
This stark contrast had much to do with Fatty Lei’s minimal rank. A merchant’s Trading Space expanded in size and decorated itself based on their rank and financial resources.
Considering Fatty Lei had almost no Credit Points and was practically a “plain plank” rank, his shop’s humble condition followed logically.
Inside Rogue’s Shop, Fatty Lei felt utterly dazzled.
Unlike Fatty Lei’s setup, Rogue’s Shop occupied a circular space. Small display nooks housing merchandise were carved directly into the curving walls.
A massive crystal chandelier hung from the circular ceiling high above. Its light filled the entire space, bright but pleasantly free of harsh glare.
Assorted little trinkets filled the wall nooks. Fatty Lei recognized none of them, understood their use even less, so he quickly lost interest in examining them further.
Just as the dazzle overwhelmed him, something blurred before his eyes. A woman with a super explosive figure, clad in shiny silver tight-fitting clothes, appeared directly in front of Fatty Lei.
“Welcome to Rogue’s Shop, Sir. How may I assist you today?”
This woman stood easily over six feet tall. Her hugely ample breasts swayed conspicuously right in Fatty Lei’s line of sight. He even worried privately whether bearing such weight might cause her discomfort.
Fatty Lei’s eyes bugged out at the mesmerizing sight of those shifting mounds. His nose nearly erupted in a spray of blood with a faint “puff” sound.
You can’t quite blame Fatty Lei for being overwhelmed. Such a stunning woman was frankly unseen back in his original world.
Massive, deep-blue eyes; long, graceful eyelashes; the soft-pink lips practically begging imaginative thoughts; and that perfectly sculpted, curvaceous form – each element sent Fatty Lei’s heart pumping wildly.
However, hearing the sweet voice accompanying this vision snapped Fatty Lei back to reality.
“We’d like to inquire about purchasing mechanical… uh, Robots or such. Does your establishment carry such merchandise?”
Beautiful? Undeniably. Yet, Fatty Lei sensed the woman’s smile felt rigidly formulaic. Closer inspection revealed an almost artificial stiffness in her grin.
“Is this woman… a Robot?” The sudden thought arose. Instantly, Fatty Lei’s frantic heartbeat began slowing down. After all, stressing over a Robot seemed utterly pointless.
“A Mechanical Lifeform, you mean?” The bodacious woman tilted her head thoughtfully before responding brightly. “Currently, we do not have precisely your requirement in stock. However, I can consult my employer!” Her expression became expectant, awaiting Fatty Lei’s assent.
“Wouldn’t that… trouble your esteemed employer?” Fatty Lei felt hesitant. He wasn’t even sure he’d buy anything, having just casually inquired.
Based on past world experience, Fatty Lei knew shop owners disliked customers pestering them with questions only to leave empty-handed.
So, he felt uneasy about annoying the shop’s proprietor with fruitless inquiries.
The woman smiled her well-rehearsed smile. “Our employer strictly instructs us to treat every visitor as a valued guest. Even if you don’t purchase today, we provide full service. Every guest holds potential as a future client!”
Fatty Lei found her explanation genuinely heartwarming.
“Astounding! In the dimensional system teeming with shady dealers, who’d expect such fine business ethics!” Setting his minor concerns aside, Fatty Lei smiled. “Your employer clearly knows his trade. Judging by his practices, he must have many loyal clients?”
This was merely Fatty Lei’s offhand remark.
Still, the woman treated it earnestly. A small metallic device materialized out of thin air before her. She deftly caught it, pressed some keys emitting soft ‘didi didi’ sounds, then addressed Fatty Lei. “That’s quite accurate, Sir. We maintain a vast, and predominantly stable, clientele. Our exceptional service ensures a reliable flow of patrons. Within the Dimensional Trading System itself, while potential customers abound, loyalty proves rare.”
Fatty Lei nodded quietly. This mirrored the reality he acknowledged well.
Merchants within the Dimensional Trading System spanned countless dimensional planes and Spaces. Everyone scavenged everywhere for their needs, leading to highly fluid transactions.
Essentially, people traded once with this vendor, spotted a seemingly better one next time, and promptly switched.
“Clearly, this shop owner possesses considerable savvy,” Fatty Lei reflected internally. “Cultivating stable clientele must involve more than just good service. Requires some special methods.”
He silently resolved, even if yielding nothing tangible today, he’d emulate this shop’s approach for his own future buildup.
“Sir, please wait just a moment. My employer arrives shortly; you may then converse with him directly. I sincerely hope we can find merchandise exceeding your expectations.” The stunning woman gracefully stepped aside, indicating the communication was complete. That metallic object? Evidently a communication device.
“Apologies for troubling your employer on account of us mere sightseers.” The mere concept astonished Fatty Lei, leaving him flattered and slightly awed. This shop owner cared enough to attend personally to casual inquiries?
“Our core philosophy, Sir, is ‘Every Guest Comes First!’” The woman beamed warmly at Fatty Lei.
