Chapter 9: Greetings, My Lord!

The scenery around Fatty Lei began to spin rapidly, accompanied by a sudden voice.

After the metal walls of the Command Room twisted, Fatty Lei suddenly found himself in a completely unfamiliar place.

“Did I travel through time again?” Fatty Lei almost cried. “Once was bad enough—is fate playing with me again?”

Fatty Lei looked at the unfamiliar surroundings, and his heart leaped into his throat.

Unlike the metal-built Military Outpost, the place Fatty Lei was in now was entirely made of wood. The all-wooden house looked very shabby.

Fatty Lei even spotted spiderwebs in the upper right corner. A thick layer of dust covered the floor, as though no one had lived there for a long time.

“Program h90883288 initiated.”

The stiff, mysterious voice echoed in Fatty Lei’s ears again. Then, a dazzling white light flashed in the corner of the dilapidated hut. As the bright light faded, an old, worn-out computer appeared.

“Beep—”

The computer turned on automatically. Indicator lights blinked, and the monitor displayed a string of numbers.

Before Fatty Lei could figure out what was happening, a light blue sphere appeared beside him, startling him so much that his body jolted.

The light blue sphere was about a meter in diameter. It continuously emitted visible energy ripples that spread outward in waves.

Fatty Lei hastily backed away, reaching behind his back.

“Damn it! I didn’t bring the Laser Rifle! What the hell?”

Fatty Lei frantically scanned the area for anything he could use to defend himself or hide behind.

Unfortunately, in this roughly twenty-five-square-meter space, there was nothing for Fatty Lei to use for cover or as a weapon.

Unless he used that mysteriously appearing old computer as a weapon…

But that didn’t seem very likely.

So Fatty Lei quickly retreated to the corner, his full attention fixed on the suddenly appearing light sphere.

The entire space was built from wood and completely sealed, with no door for entry or exit.

The light sphere kept shrinking and expanding, over and over.

Finally, after a burst of bright light, the light blue sphere slowly merged into a humanoid shape.

The glowing humanoid figure kept adjusting its size and height before finally settling.

“Intelligent Butler at your service, my Lord.”

After a series of transformations, the light blue humanoid glow morphed into a handsome elderly man with silver hair, elegant demeanor, dressed in 17th-century aristocratic butler attire.

“Lord?” Fatty Lei pointed at himself, looking at the old man.

Seeing the old man, who had emerged from the light blue sphere, bowing respectfully and addressing him, Fatty Lei stared in disbelief.

With an elegant bow, the handsome old man replied respectfully, “Yes, you are my Lord. As your Steward, if you have any questions, I can answer them to help you quickly get familiar with your duties.”

Fatty Lei, still shocked, just stared dumbly at the handsome old man.

“This suddenly appearing old man calls me Lord and says I need to quickly get familiar with my duties? What duties?” Fatty Lei was completely baffled by what the old man was saying.

Noticing Fatty Lei’s puzzled expression, the man who called himself his Steward slowly approached.

Fatty Lei watched him warily.

“My Lord, there is no need to be so guarded. I told you I am your Steward. Since I rely on you for survival, I would never do anything to harm you.” The self-proclaimed Steward stopped about three meters away from Fatty Lei.

Fatty Lei did not relax his guard just because of the man’s words.

He knew very well that if the other truly meant him harm, he had little power to resist, given his lack of strong Combat Power to protect himself.

Fatty Lei was fully aware of his own situation.

“Don’t you have any questions, my Lord?” the handsome old man leaned forward slightly, looking respectfully at Fatty Lei as he spoke.

“Since things have come to this, I might as well ask him a few questions.” Fatty Lei saw no other way; this damn place was a completely enclosed Space, and he couldn’t find any way out.

Collecting his thoughts and suppressing his numerous questions, Fatty Lei fixed his gaze on the old man who called himself the Steward and asked, “In that case, I will ask.” Fatty Lei quickly sorted through the questions he wanted to ask, as there were too many, so he had to pick the most important ones.

“Ask away, my Lord.” The old man bowed slightly, placing his right hand over his abdomen.

“Where is this place?” Fatty Lei wanted to first understand where he was.

“This is your Private Space, where you will display goods for trade, allow customers to view them, or store supplies.”

The old man replied respectfully.

“My Private Space? Display trade goods? Trade with whom? How?”

Fatty Lei’s rapid-fire questions did not upset the old man, who patiently began explaining and answering each one.

“Damn it!” About an hour later, Fatty Lei couldn’t help but curse after listening to the old man’s explanations. What had happened to him was just too bizarre.

“My Lord! Your current situation is exactly that. As a new Dimensional Merchant, you have one month to find trading partners. After that, you must start paying Tax. If you cannot pay the 100 Credit Points in a month, the Dimensional trading system will mercilessly carry out Eradication on both of us.”

Fatty Lei’s unexpectedly acquired Steward stood respectfully beside him, offering this reminder.

“Damn it!” Fatty Lei swore. “How am I supposed to know who to trade with or what to trade? I’m just starting out, and this place is a barren wasteland—there’s nothing here to buy or sell.”

The Steward fully agreed with what Fatty Lei said.

Not long before, he had already surveyed the Planet where Fatty Lei was. As Fatty Lei himself said, it was truly a barren wasteland.

Moreover, the items inside the Military Outpost where Fatty Lei was stationed were technologically too primitive. Even if Fatty Lei displayed them in his exhibition Space, no one would buy them.

Even Fatty Lei himself understood this well.

“My Lord, it’s true that the place you’re in is rather pitiful. But we can’t give up hope. No matter what, we should pick some items to display here—we still need something to hope for, don’t we?” The Steward suggested to Fatty Lei.

“Listen, since I’m now a Dimensional Merchant, can’t I try to contact other merchants for trade? I don’t have to just wait around to die. It’s better to take action than just sit here waiting.” After hearing the Steward’s words, Fatty Lei tilted his head and spoke to him.

The old Steward, who had appeared out of nowhere, sighed deeply, then said something that sent a chill down Fatty Lei’s spine.

“My Lord, you might not know this yet. As a new Dimensional Merchant, you don’t have access to many privileges. As a beginner, all you can do is display items you want to sell in this Space and see if anyone is interested. You cannot actively contact others because of the System’s rules.”

“Damn it, that rule is just too messed up!” Fatty Lei couldn’t help but curse loudly.

“My Lord, please calm down. The rule is the rule, and there’s nothing we can do to change it. So now, we need to focus on how to earn enough Tax within a month—that’s the most urgent matter.”

Fatty Lei’s face scrunched up in distress. He painfully clutched his head and squatted down.

“The stuff here is so bad, no one will buy it. In the end, it’s still a dead end.”

“My Lord! That’s not necessarily true. Even if the items from your location are really poor, there’s still a chance someone might buy them. After all, every Dimensional Plane is different—what’s trash to you might be treasure elsewhere.” The Steward spoke softly to Fatty Lei.

Fatty Lei sprang to his feet, his eyes gleaming.

“Right! How could I have forgotten that? I’ve read plenty of those overpowered fantasy novels. I actually forgot about this—how stupid of me.”

The Steward’s words suddenly reminded Fatty Lei of the invincible protagonist novels he had read in his original World.

Thinking of those novels, Fatty Lei felt hope surge within him.

“You’re right—what’s trash to me might be treasure to someone else.” Fatty Lei clapped his hands together with a “smack.” He turned his head and asked the Steward, “But isn’t this Space a bit small? It’s okay for small items, but for large machinery, it might not be enough.”

As he spoke, Fatty Lei looked around the room.

“My Lord! There’s no need to worry about that. As your level increases, this Space can expand. In the future, it might even be transformed into a Dimensional Plane. By then, you would be the ruler of an entire Plane, of course, all of that depends on your hard work.”

The Steward bowed his head as he spoke to Fatty Lei.

The Steward’s words ignited a fire in Fatty Lei’s heart.

“The ruler of a Dimensional Plane! Hell yeah!”
