“Beep! Beep! Beep!”
The car horn sounded sharp and piercing.
Himekoji turned the steering wheel wildly with both hands.
He drove out of the Movie Village at over sixty kilometers per hour, just barely avoiding the danger.
That whole journey was full of dangers.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Yukinoshita was so scared that her face turned pale during all those close calls.
Every time, she thought they were going to crash, but each time, they missed by a tiny bit.
She couldn’t help feeling amazed and looked at Himekoji with surprise—
How could his driving skills be this good?
She hadn’t noticed at all, but he was actually a skilled driver who kept a low profile!
And luckily, Himekoji was a skilled driver, because if anyone else had been behind the wheel, they probably wouldn’t have made it through that.

Officer Nakamura sighed inside.
He went on trying to calm everyone down.
“No need to panic too much. The bomb squad has arrived, and your classmates are safe for now.”
“They’re safe now, but what about next?”
Standing nearby, Akiko stomped her feet anxiously after hearing the word “bomb” too.
Fear and panic quickly spread among the students.
“There’s really… really a bomb on the car?!”
“They won’t actually get hurt, right?”

The traffic police got there faster than the bomb squad.
That was because Himekoji had run red lights, sped, broken traffic rules badly, and drove dangerously many times.
But before any trouble could happen, they got orders from headquarters.
So when they arrived, instead of stopping Himekoji, they drove in front of him and honked to clear the path.
The bomb squad caught up soon after.
They drove their vehicle alongside Himekoji’s bomb car at the same speed.
A bomb expert leaned out of their car and used a hose camera to find the bomb under the car.
It was almost impossible to defuse a bomb moving at high speed.
Once they confirmed that, the police told Himekoji and Yukinoshita the news right away.
They were in danger, so they deserved to know the truth.
After that, the police thought a bit and decided on a rescue plan.
The plan wasn’t too complicated—just move the people off the car before the bomb could explode.
The police explained the whole plan and all the notes carefully to Yukinoshita over the phone, and she nodded seriously.
Then she checked the back seat; the criminal’s phone was still on the call.
They couldn’t pick it up and hang it up, because if they did, the criminal would set off the bomb.
So, to keep the criminals from hearing, Yukinoshita typed out the rescue plan in a text and showed it to Himekoji:
“Later, a police rescue van will drive next to us on the left at the same speed. After I jump, they’ll send someone to install a gadget on the passenger side to fix the steering wheel and gas pedal.”
Himekoji nodded to show he understood and had no problem with it.
Once a gadget was there to hold the steering wheel and gas pedal, it could keep the car driving at the same speed with nobody inside.
They didn’t waste any time, and since everyone agreed, the police quickly started the rescue.
Yukinoshita unfastened her seatbelt and opened the car door.
On the rescue van to her left, a police officer got ready to catch her when she jumped.
If all went well, they would be safe from danger in no time!

“But all the hostages who listened to you before—didn’t you still kill them?”
