Chapter 180: Ten Thousand Beasts’ Uproar Art
Chapter 180: Ten Thousand Beasts’ Uproar Art
Demonic Path cultivation sought physical might. Every move carried incredible power, possessing a certain overpowering might that Daoist Qi Refinement lacked.
Mu Yuan had once fought against people from the Demonic Sect before, but compared to Zhu Shenzi, those people were like fireflies competing with the bright moon – the difference was vast!
Only after seeing Zhu Shenzi’s methods did Mu Yuan truly understand what overpowering might meant!
Fierce Demonic Energy, like a hurricane or underground fire, raged without mercy. Countless savage beasts manifested by him leaped, tore, and clawed with extreme ferocity!
Even with three of them fighting together, they couldn’t gain any advantage. Instead, they were suppressed everywhere.
The sky was filled with all kinds of savage beasts: horned qilins, three-eyed rhinoceroses, pythons as thick as water barrels, scaled water serpents, flying eagles with purple pupils…
The radiance of the three men was completely submerged beneath an endless sea of demon beasts!
“No wonder this guy stared at us like we were food… he really is abnormally fierce!”
Seeing Zhu Shenzi unleash his terrifying might, even Peacock King’s heart thumped wildly!
“So it’s a fellow Daoist from the Demonic Spirit Gate! Tell me, has the Demonic Sect also joined the Southern Barbarians’ rebellion?”
The old monk pointed a finger. A vast expanse of golden light, enveloping an entire world, descended upon them!
Even Zhu Shenzi, fearless as he usually was, couldn’t help his eyelids twitching when he saw this beam of light.
“‘Great Sumeru Light of the Dharma’, ‘Saha Pure Land’! You’re from the Mou Ni Buddhist Sect!”
Mu Yuan had never been able to discern the monk’s origins, and now hearing Zhu Shenzi shout it out, he felt confused.
He had never heard of the Mou Ni Buddhist Sect! But judging by Zhu Shenzi’s shocked tone, it seemed to be an incredibly powerful sect!
The old monk was indeed extraordinary. With his first move, he used the Saha Pure Land World to envelop a huge swathe of savage beasts, absorbing them all into it. Zhu Shenzi felt as if his flesh was being cut!
A white-furred fierce tiger with vertical pupils, its body ablaze with crimson flames and covered in brilliant white light as sharp as swords, its claws gleaming, pounced ferociously!
Mu Yuan blocked with the Five Elements Great Curse. The tiger converted into a mote of multicolored light and was directly sealed within.
Five shimmering elemental rings appeared, containing that single point of white light.
The power of the Five Elements churned and ground together like a massive millstone, slowly digesting this fierce tiger back into Primordial Qi, merging it into the cycle of Five Elements!
BOOM!
A Mount Sumeru of brilliant gold, radiating vast majesty, rolled through the Void, crushing countless savage beasts which directly exploded back into Primordial Qi!
Zhu Shenzi roared furiously, “Damned monk! I was only being respectful to you because of your Sect Leader, Monk Jing’an! Don’t be ungrateful!”
The great Mount Sumeru blazed with golden light, supremely majestic, standing tall in mid-air. The Divine Abilities emitted by Mu Yuan, Yun Xi, and Su Yun were completely overshadowed by its brightness!
“This old monk… is he really that amazing?” Yun Xi remarked, his voice tinged with sourness.
Mu Yuan could only give a bitter smile. He hadn’t imagined this monk to be so powerful. He must have hidden his true Magical Power earlier; embarrassing to think Mu Yuan had actually wanted to fight and defeat him!
Zhu Shenzi had been thoroughly provoked by the old monk. Opening his mouth wide, he let out a roar. A colossal black-scaled Demon Dragon shot out from his mouth, rapidly expanding its body in mid-air until it reached hundreds of feet long. Its enormous, sleek, black body shone in the night sky as it coiled around Mount Sumeru, wrapping it several times, then constricting tightly, as if trying to crush the sacred mountain into pieces!
The clash between these two was truly earth-shattering!
The Devil Spirit savage beasts conjured by the Demonic Spirit Gate’s Ten Thousand Beasts’ Uproar Art were primarily created by the cultivator hunting savage beasts, sealing their soul and spirit essence within their own body. Then, they refined these essences with Zhenqi to cultivate Devil Spirits!
It sounded a bit similar to the Lunar Devil Sect’s Taiyin God-Slaying Art, but there were actually significant differences!
The Taiyin God-Slaying Art could automatically evolve this technique to a higher level when devouring cultivators practicing the same class of techniques. It essentially also extracted memories, though the devourer themselves wouldn’t gain those memories! Crucially, the Taiyin God-Slaying Art didn’t cultivate the self; it forcibly plundered external yin soldiers. Sometimes, the cultivation level of these yin soldiers even surpassed that of the devourer!
The Ten Thousand Beasts’ Uproar Art worked differently. By sealing a savage beast’s soul and spirit essence within oneself and infusing it with one’s own Zhenqi, it similarly created Devil Spirits akin to yin soldiers. However, with each savage beast sealed, the cultivator themselves also gained some of the formidable innate talents belonging to the beast they sealed!
This might mean increased resilience in some aspect of their physical body, enhanced attack power, explosive strength, etc., or it might grant easier manipulation of certain types of Primordial Qi… In short, the benefits gained were immense.
However, the savage beast Devil Spirits Zhu Shenzi summoned just now weren’t all necessarily soul and spirit essences he himself had sealed!
In the current world, rare and exotic beasts were dwindling. Cultivating the Ten Thousand Beasts’ Uproar Art was truly no longer ideal. Most savage beasts that could significantly enhance oneself had already vanished. Sealing weaker, less remarkable ordinary beasts offered much smaller benefits.
Beasts like the horned qilin, the purple-pupiled thunder eagle, the winged white tiger… he had only seen depictions of them in his sect’s ancient texts. Where could one possibly find them today?
If someone actually had the soul and spirit of one of those beasts sealed within them, how could the beast be so easily destroyed!
That said, the gigantic Demon Dragon currently coiling around Mount Sumeru had a significant backstory!
During his travels years ago, Zhu Shenzi had found the skeleton of an ancient Demon Dragon deep within a pool at the bottom of a sheer cliff. Most preciously, a lingering wisp of vengeful spirit clung to the demonic dragon’s skull. Zhu Shenzi, of course, had no objections; he immediately sealed that strand of resentment within himself. The Dragon Bone skeleton wasn’t wasted either; he forged it into an inner armor suit that he wore.
Now, with the resentful spirit resonating with the skeletal frame, he could unleash a substantial amount of the Demon Dragon’s original power!
This was always Zhu Shenzi’s trump card, one he almost never used lightly. That he used it now showed just how genuinely furious he was with this monk!
The monk, though powerful, was indeed no match for Zhu Shenzi. After all, the age and cultivation gap between them was vast!
The colossal Mount Sumeru was squeezed until its golden light sputtered wildly. The monk clearly wasn’t faring well either; beads of sweat formed on his normally deathly impassive face!
This wasn’t entirely unexpected to Mu Yuan. Zhu Shenzi was at the Peak Qi Refining, after all! Although mysterious, the monk was only one or two small realms higher than Mu Yuan himself!
Peacock King and Zhu Shenzi had come precisely to demonstrate their power.
Among those present, aside from the monk, the strongest player would be Mu Yuan! However, Mu Yuan had little confidence in being able to rescue the trapped monk.
Mu Yuan was self-aware. Yet he couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. He merged the Five Elements Great Curses into a single, dazzling sword beam. Wielding the Minghe Immortal Sword horizontally and vertically, sweeping Sword Qi rolled out wherever he passed, radiating in all directions!
Peacock King, who had been coldly observing from the side, saw Zhu Shenzi fiercely engaged. The remaining cultivators weren’t particularly strong. With a light, cold laugh, a trace of malice appeared on his handsome face.
As Peacock King emitted that soft laugh, a great cloud of mist suddenly burst forth from his body. Then, a smooth, softly glowing pearl manifested within it. From this pearl came the faint sound of gurgling spring water and the flickering of countless luminous silhouettes.
“The Water Soul Pearl!”
Mu Yuan instantly recognized this treasure; it was from the Clear Water Palace!
“Be careful!”
Mo Huan shouted loudly. Waving his hands rapidly up and down, dozens of varied Sword Qi beams shot out from his fingertips – some solid-looking, others formless and intangible!
Seeing the situation turn perilous, many other cultivators also unleashed their life’s most prized techniques. Suddenly, thunderbolts flashed, ice and fire danced, and a riot of dazzling colors exploded across the night sky, leaving the mortal soldiers watching from below utterly dumbfounded!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Fourteen water dragons flew out consecutively from the Water Soul Pearl. They coiled and writhed across the sky, claws raking angrily, sending huge waves of air pressure crashing down like a tsunami that overwhelmed even Mo Huan’s Sword Qi!
If Mo Huan’s attacks were suppressed, others fared even worse!
It seemed Peacock King had further refined the Water Soul Pearl considerably in these past days. Its power had increased at least twofold compared to when Mu Yuan last saw it!
“Seems we miscalculated. We believed the Southern Barbarians’ monster unrest only involved the Eight Great Monster Kings. But with these additional figures like Zhu Shenzi… relying on just us is insufficient.”
Mu Yuan felt utterly helpless and immediately began thinking about retreating!
Zhu Shenzi was too vicious. He had trapped the monk with one black-armored Demon Dragon, and dealing with his innumerable other savage beasts was a hopeless task for the three of them!
Just then, several dazzling beams of light suddenly flashed across the sky.
One column of brilliant light shot straight down from the mid-air, landing on the surging, roiling mass of savage beasts. Immediately, plumes of black smoke rose! The massive beasts were all instantly obliterated by this single light beam!
Zhu Shenzi was greatly startled. Among those beasts had been quite a few sealed soul and spirit essences of his own, utterly annihilated by the newcomer. He couldn’t help but look up!
High in the night sky stood four young men, all wearing white Daoist robes looking elegant and untethered, their robes fluttering. One of them held a small, palm-sized, silver circular mirror. The devastating beam of light had just shot forth from it!
“Well, well, truly there are Demonic Path practitioners here!”
Next to the man holding the mirror stood another whose body faintly crackled with electrical arcs. He seemed to find this extremely intriguing. Clapping his hands together, everyone heard a piercing ‘CRACK!’— as if shattering glass.
Then a square seal of pure green light, surrounded by thunder, distorted space and crashed downwards!
“Jade Pivot Divine Thunder Seal!” Mu Yuan narrowed his eyes. “Kunlun disciples! Fella’s… all at the Elixir Formation stage!”
