Chapter 95: All Alone
Chapter 95: All Alone
Cait’s Potion was very specific. The Frenzied Treant was burning fiercely and completely lost its ability to fight. The Frenzied Treant had been Chen Mo’s move. He carried plenty of Blood of Curse. This should have been his chance to easily kill the Frenzied Treant and succeed in clearing the Giant Wood Maze area.
But Chen Mo simply couldn’t act now. With the Frenzied Treant useless, his plan fell apart again.
“Golden Phoenix, stop worrying about the monsters. Let Da Qing Shan and the others handle them. Focus with me on picking off the Players with low Health Points!”
Under the effect of Chen Mo’s Camouflage Skill, the two Giant Apes were on the verge of giving up on him. But seeing the Frenzied Treant fail, Chen Mo dropped his stealth with a grim face, deliberately drawing Aggro from both Giant Apes again.
The situation grew worse. Chen Mo felt forced to change his plan again.
The surrounding area was wide open. His speed rivaled a Boss monster’s. These two Giant Apes couldn’t catch him for the moment. His and Golden Phoenix’s only hope now was to combine their attack power and target the Players within the Four Seas Guild who had low Health.
“Okay!” Golden Phoenix, eager for a fight, immediately broke away from her original combat the moment she received Chen Mo’s instructions.
“Little Gull! Watch out!”
A huge brawl raged across the platform. Chaos filled the scene. Not many Four Seas members could pay attention to both Golden Phoenix and Chen Mo at once. But Sihai Weijia, who had kept his eyes locked on Chen Mo, spotted his unusual movement immediately.
Seeing Chen Mo charging towards a low-health Four Seas Guild member, Sihai Weijia shouted a warning to that Player.
The Mage, named Little Gull, heard the warning. But she was already fighting one of Da Qing Shan’s underlings. Chen Mo and Golden Phoenix’s attacks struck like lightning. By the time Sihai Weijia yelled and Little Gull could react, Chen Mo’s Crossbow Bolt and Golden Phoenix’s arrows were already upon her!
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Three attacks hit Little Gull instantly!
One arrow belonged to Chen Mo. The other two came from Golden Phoenix. A flash of light surrounded her massive bow as she activated its innate Ability—Double Arrow. This meant she could shoot two arrows at once.
This skill was incredibly potent in the early Game. However, Golden Phoenix could only use this Ability once per day, allowing her to fire six Double Arrow sessions within a short time.
This was her trump card. She hadn’t used it even during the battle with the Four Seas Guild’s scouting team.
Now, facing a critical situation, Golden Phoenix knew that if she didn’t act immediately, she’d lose her chance.
The Double Arrow lived up to its power. Combined with Chen Mo’s attack, the three strikes dealt nearly 700 points of Damage. Little Gull died instantly!
“That female Archer’s attack is too strong!” gasped the Archer Player who had attacked the Frenzied Treant.
“Guild Master! We must stop them now! Otherwise, we’ll suffer heavy losses!” A Grain of Sand in the Sea’s expression darkened as she spoke urgently. She was a Mage too; her Health Points weren’t much higher than Little Gull’s. If Chen Mo and Golden Phoenix chose her as their next target, she’d lose most of her Health Points even if she didn’t die instantly. One more hit after that would finish her.
“Shark! Take two people and eliminate that Archer!”
Sihai Weijia didn’t know about the usage limit on Golden Phoenix’s Double Arrow, but he saw how this could still shift the battle’s momentum.
Even if it changed, the Four Seas Guild’s chance of losing remained slim. However, his opponent was Chen Mo – the formidable fellow who had thwarted the Glacier Game Club. Who knew what else he might pull out? Sihai Weijia needed to crush any chance of that happening. He absolutely couldn’t afford to give him the opportunity!
“Understood!” Shark replied sturdily. He was a burly middle-aged man standing near Sihai Weijia. In an instant, his figure vanished.
Shark was clearly an expert Assassin from Four Seas!
While Sihai Weijia gave his order, Chen Mo and Golden Phoenix struck again like thunder. They swiftly eliminated another Archer from Four Seas with low Health.
This could work!
Chen Mo hadn’t expected Golden Phoenix to possess such potent burst damage. Her attacks were already formidable. While the Double Arrow had strict limitations, its damage boost was nothing to sneeze at. With Golden Phoenix unleashing it now, even squishy targets with moderate Health could be instantly eliminated by their combined efforts.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Three more attacks found their mark. Chen Mo and Golden Phoenix’s sneak attacks were incredibly hard to guard against. Another Four Seas Guild member fell.
Chen Mo possessed observation skills far beyond any Player present here. As long as Golden Phoenix followed his instructions and struck at the precise moment, the Four Seas members had no chance to dodge.
“Damn it! Shark, hurry up!” Sihai Weijia’s face clouded over.
He would have liked to act himself, but Cait needed protection. If those two exploited a gap and landed just one coordinated attack, Cait could be killed instantly.
Cait absolutely could not die. The Four Seas Guild still held the advantage. He hadn’t yet reached the point where he needed to personally intervene.
Chen Mo and Golden Phoenix teamed up, swiftly killing two more Players. Their combined efforts resulted in four Four Seas Guild members dead.
“Keep going!” Chen Mo led Golden Phoenix toward their next target.
“Okay!”
Golden Phoenix followed closely. Just then, a figure silently emerged behind her. A Dagger, pitch-black and gleaming, plunged hard into her back.
Chisel Strike!
3-second stun!
Given Golden Phoenix’s gear, standing still for a fifteen-second Assassin to hack at her wouldn’t necessarily kill her. But the instant she was stunned by Chisel Strike, an unexpected coordination unfolded. Six or seven ranged Players ignored their own opponents and simultaneously unleashed their attacks upon her!
Combined with Shark attacking her rear, a barrage of eight attacks hammered Golden Phoenix simultaneously!
Stunned, Golden Phoenix could only watch helplessly as all these attacks landed unerringly upon her.
Archers didn’t have high Health Points—they only had a bit more than Magic-based classes. Against so many strikes, even with Golden Phoenix’s good equipment, her Health Points bottomed out instantly. She collapsed to the ground.
Everything happened in an eyeblink. By the time Chen Mo realized the danger, it was too late; the attacks had already hit Golden Phoenix.
Chen Mo couldn’t help but sigh. He was only one person. His vision was limited. Despite his superhuman observation skills, the battlefield was chaotic, with Players falling dead constantly. Missing an anti-Stealth skill, he had no way to prevent a Stealthy Assassin from ambushing his teammate.
“ROAR!”
With Golden Phoenix dead, Chen Mo and Golden Phoenix’s kill-team dissolved immediately. Over a dozen of Da Qing Shan’s followers were also dead. Chen Mo’s side was completely overwhelmed.
Right then, Big Fatty roared. The cooldown on its Split ability had finally ended, and now it unleashed it!
But Chen Mo felt no excitement. He had ordered Big Fatty to use Split. He’d planned to save this move for the very last; he hadn’t wanted to use it now.
Sihai Weijia also sighed. He wasn’t mistaken about this Hunter. Truly formidable. That “pet” Mutant Slime King he controlled possessed every Boss-like ability!
“Mr. Cait? Can you force your monsters to focus all their attacks on that Mutant Slime King? If not, we might have to engage ourselves personally. We couldn’t stay here to protect you.”
But Sihai Weijia had a counter. The NPC Old Man Cait was terrified of dying. Faced with the current danger, he’d likely comply.
“No problem! You protect me properly, and I’ll command those two fools!” Old Man Cait promised instantly.
Old Man Cait then uttered a few bizarre syllables. The two Giant Apes chasing Chen Mo turned their heads, looked at Cait, completely ignored Chen Mo, and charged towards Big Fatty and its clones instead.
Chen Mo’s face darkened. He spun around, trying desperately to regain the Giant Apes’ Aggro. But no matter how fiercely he attacked, they paid him no mind.
“Expert! We can’t hold on!” Da Qing Shan yelled.
With two Giant Apes joining the fight directly against them, Da Qing Shan and his remaining men plunged into extreme crisis instantly!
“The outcome is settled.”
Sihai Weijia glanced over the battlefield and exhaled a relieved breath.
Soon after he uttered those words, Da Qing Shan and his remaining allies fell one by one. June Rain and Little Demon followed shortly to their deaths.
Even Big Fatty’s clones, under the concentrated assault of the two Giant Apes and multiple Four Seas Guild members, were quickly destroyed. Big Fatty’s own Health Points fell to less than 10%. Within thirty seconds, it too would collapse on the ground.
Of Chen Mo’s side, only Chen Mo and the NPC, Eve, still lived. Saying Chen Mo was all alone wasn’t an exaggeration.
