Chapter 185: Human-Falcon Fight
Chapter 185: Human-Falcon Fight
In the sky, one owl and two peregrine falcons were quickly approaching. The two peregrine falcons dove diagonally down from high above. When they passed Selin, they attacked with both their beaks and claws.
This was what Liu Heming imagined in his mind, because the distance was still a bit far. He only saw some feathers falling from Selin’s body after they crossed paths.
Actually, Liu Heming’s guess wasn’t far off. The reason these two peregrine falcons were circling above had something to do with the System. Selin taking the initiative to attack also had something to do with the System.
These two peregrine falcons were actually the same ones that had attacked Selin last time. The System just made a small adjustment, allowing Selin to recognize his two enemies.
As the saying goes, when enemies meet, their eyes turn red with rage. Last time, Selin had been badly bullied by these two. Now feeling much stronger, he decided to take the initiative to fight back.
To be honest, recently Selin had been living a comfortable life. Every day he ate chicken soaked in Small Lake Water, so his body had become much stronger than before, and his reactions were quicker too. In the first few rounds of combat, he didn’t suffer too much. At the very least, he managed to scratch the enemies with his claws a few times.
But the problem was, there were two of them. They had two heads and four claws, so he was outnumbered by half. Plus, they were small in size and could turn very flexibly. Selin was just a little clumsier than them, so he started to struggle.
What to do when you can’t win? Run back home.
Liu Heming was standing below, counting the time, when he saw his Selin flying unsteadily down from the sky. He grew nervous too, because this plan was only something he had imagined—a theoretically feasible plan. Whether it would really succeed, he had no idea.
Selin’s descent wasn’t slow, but the two peregrine falcons were even faster. Selin had no choice but to dodge in all directions. What should have taken only a minute or two to land ended up taking several extra minutes.
Liu Heming’s eyes were fixed intently on the two peregrine falcons, and his body kept adjusting its direction.
A head-on collision was definitely not an option. Even if he wore a Bulletproof Vest, he would probably be badly injured. He could recover himself, but what about the peregrine falcons? They would almost certainly die, and then how could he complete the mission?
“Selin, come over here!” Liu Heming shouted to Selin.
Selin used all his strength to dodge again, but one of the peregrine falcons still skimmed past him and bit off several feathers.
Liu Heming’s shout had some effect. Selin adjusted his direction and descended unsteadily. He was quite clever—after landing, he used his momentum to trot all the way to Liu Heming’s side.
The peregrine falcons were fierce. They wouldn’t easily give up their prey, and they certainly wouldn’t let go of this old enemy who dared to cause trouble. Even if they couldn’t kill him today, they had to take a piece of meat with them, right? So one of the peregrine falcons circled briefly in the sky, then dove diagonally toward Selin on the ground.
Liu Heming’s palms were sweating. The peregrine falcon was too fast—just a moment ago it was mid-air, and now it was right in front of him. Without thinking, he leaped from the side. But he knew this attempt was wasted; he was just going to end up falling.
“Little birdie!”
Alex’s clear voice sounded from near the door. Then Liu Heming felt like he was holding something in his arms. He hadn’t expected his daughter’s shout to slow the peregrine falcon down, allowing him to catch it perfectly.
There was no time to feel happy, and no time to spare. He was still in mid-air; if he landed like this, the peregrine falcon would probably suffer internal injuries.
He twisted his waist hard, adjusted his posture slightly, and fell sideways. After hitting the ground, he felt a sharp pain in his right arm. He regretted a little—he should have exercised more. If he had fallen on his back, the Bulletproof Vest would have lessened the injury.
He felt pleased inside. He hadn’t expected his clumsy method to actually work. This peregrine falcon was very beautiful, and its body wasn’t very big. Its eyes were wide open—what are you looking at?
“Holy crap.” Just as that thought crossed his mind, Liu Heming quickly ducked his head. Then he heard a sound on his helmet and felt a strong force on his head.
The peregrine falcon was too fierce. It had been momentarily stunned when Liu Heming caught it, but now it definitely wouldn’t miss the chance to attack him.
Liu Heming shook his head but didn’t dare raise it again. Otherwise, he was afraid his little face, little eyes, and little nose wouldn’t be able to withstand the peregrine falcon’s pecking. It was indeed much stronger than his family’s little chickens.
“Dexter, be careful!” Sasha’s warning came through then.
Liu Heming didn’t know the situation outside, but the System still hadn’t given him the mission completion prompt, so he knew the other peregrine falcon was probably attacking him again.
Not daring to think too much, he hugged the peregrine falcon tightly against his chest, drew his legs in, and half-crouched on the ground.
In fact, before he could even finish these movements, he felt a strong force hit his back, and this time he was truly flattened. Luckily, he reacted quickly and pushed the peregrine falcon in his arms outward; otherwise, he would have landed right on top of it.
Holding the peregrine falcon with both hands, he started rolling on the ground.
Roll left, roll right, stop suddenly—he used all his strength and combined movements randomly. This was the only method he could think of to avoid the other peregrine falcon’s attacks.
But even so, his back and chest were hit several times. The clothes on his arm were pecked loose in one spot, and the skin on his arm was broken.
The people watching inside were dumbfounded. They had never seen such a human-falcon fight before. Although Liu Heming was passively taking hits the whole time, no matter what, he still had a falcon hostage in his hands.
And such a scene was truly bizarre. Liu Heming rolled back and forth on the ground like a big worm. The area he covered wasn’t small—he rolled across half the yard.
After rolling for a full half hour, Liu Heming was so tired that he stuck out his tongue. Feeling that he hadn’t been attacked again, he stopped.
He was tired, and dizzy too. Holding his hands out like that and rolling for so long—of course he would be tired and dizzy.
He really had no strength left. He couldn’t even sit steadily; his body swayed back and forth, and his hands naturally loosened.
This peregrine falcon wasn’t doing well either. It wanted to fly away, but it was also dizzy. It tried several times unsteadily on the ground but didn’t succeed, and ended up falling again.
By the time it tried to escape again, Alex had already picked it up and held it in her arms, stroking its head continuously.
