Chapter 176: A Few Too Many Tourists (Part 1)

“Lewis, why are you here so early today? George and the others haven’t arrived yet.” The next morning, while Liu Heming was still shoveling manure, Lewis had already shown up.

“Dexter, it seems something unusual is happening. I received many calls yesterday from people booking rooms at my inn,” Lewis said with a worried look.

“Isn’t that a good thing? You have plenty of rooms now, so if people book them, won’t you make a lot of money?” Liu Heming asked curiously.

“Dexter, our area isn’t a tourist spot. Why would so many people book rooms?” Lewis said with a bitter smile.

“I was wondering if they might be coming to see you, like Rock did last time? After all, our pancakes are quite famous now, and everyone loves Alex.”

“Huh… That can’t be, right?” Liu Heming was also surprised.

He had only found out yesterday. Even if Rock wanted to come, wouldn’t he contact us first? Rock might be a foodie, but he’s always methodical in what he does. It’s unlikely he would act without warning.

Liu Heming took out his phone and dialed Rock’s number.

“Mr. Dexter, hello,” Rock’s cheerful voice came through once the call connected.

“Rock, are you planning to come visit my place today?” Liu Heming asked directly after greeting him.

“Visit your place? No, I just finished a paper yesterday,” Rock replied, then quickly added, “Hold on, let me check.”

Liu Heming didn’t know what Rock was doing on the other end, but it sounded chaotic, as if something had been knocked over.

“Mr. Dexter, I’m really sorry,” Rock’s voice came back after a moment.

“I planned to contact you after counting everyone, but it seems some people couldn’t wait and went ahead. I apologize if they’ve disturbed your life because of me.”

“Ah, they haven’t arrived yet, but they’ve booked rooms with Lewis. It’s fine if they come, but there are quite a few people this time, so I’ll need to charge a small fee. You should also make it clear in the comments under the video you posted,” Liu Heming said with a wry smile.

“OK, Mr. Dexter. Do you have a pricing standard?” Rock suddenly sounded excited.

“No specific standard. They can pay Lewis for lodging, and for food, let’s say fifty US Dollars per person. Charging more might keep the numbers down,” Liu Heming said after thinking for a moment.

“Haha, Mr. Dexter, you can’t go back on that! Count me in. I’m coming over today too,” Rock said with a laugh before hanging up.

“Lewis, do you think charging fifty US Dollars per person for a fish meal here is cheap?” Holding his phone, Liu Heming looked at Lewis and asked.

“From our point of view, it’s expensive. But I don’t know how they’d see it based on their spending habits. I’d better head back to town—I’m afraid we might run out of rooms today.” After saying that, Lewis ran back to his car and drove off in a hurry.

This left Liu Heming with no interest in shoveling manure anymore. After finishing up quickly, he hurried back to the house to tell Sasha the news.

“Fifty dollars? Thinking about it, that doesn’t seem too high,” Sasha said after a moment’s thought.

“Not too high? Just for some fish, fifty dollars isn’t too much?” Liu Heming asked, feeling a bit frustrated.

“Think about it—the fish you make is delicious. Plus, they get to play with the Bear Cubs. I think the price is reasonable,” Sasha said seriously.

Liu Heming didn’t know what to say. If it were him, he wouldn’t spend money like that.

He was still puzzling over it when George and John arrived driving the Seeder.

“Dexter, I just checked the Warehouse. Why are your wheat seeds all wet?” George asked as he entered the room.

“He thought the weather was too dry, so he soaked the seeds in water,” Nina said with a laugh.

Liu Heming scratched his head. That was the reason he gave, but he knew the seeds soaked in Small Lake Water were better. However, there were too many seeds to soak properly, so he just dunked the bags randomly.

George didn’t say much. It wouldn’t affect the sowing; he just felt Liu Heming was overcomplicating things.

Both Alex and the Bear Cubs were very interested in farming. Liu Heming drove the small Seeder with Alex and her Baby Alligator sitting beside him. George drove the large Seeder with two Bear Cubs on board.

John had an easier job, following the Seeder and refilling it with seeds and Fertilizer when needed.

As for the big bear, she now acted as the supervisor, sitting at the edge of the field, munching on Carrots and watching them.

It had to be said, using a Seeder made the work much faster. Especially George’s large Seeder, which could sow twelve rows at once. Even without Liu Heming’s help with the small one, he could finish sowing over a hundred Acres of wheat in a single day.

While they were sowing, they saw Lewis’s car approach, followed by a crowd of about forty or fifty people.

“Oh my, how did so many come?” Liu Heming muttered to himself.

Alex didn’t seem bothered by the crowd. Sitting in Liu Heming’s lap, she waved at the people.

“Dexter, you go ahead and greet them. I’ll take care of the rest,” John said with a smile as they reached the field’s edge.

“John, thank you,” Liu Heming said, nodding. He climbed down from the Seeder, holding his daughter in his arms. As for the Baby Alligator tied with a rope, he left it hanging for the moment.

“Dexter, everyone came here to see your place,” Lewis said with a wide smile.

“Hello, everyone. I need to make something clear: you’re welcome to eat here, but it will cost fifty US Dollars per person for the meal. Also, the food is simple—just rice and fish,” Liu Heming said, nodding to the crowd.

“Dexter, that’s fine with us. But where are the two cute Bear Cubs?” one of them called out.

“Please wait a moment. They’re on the Seeder over there, but things are a bit different now. When you play with the Bear Cubs, make sure not to do anything risky, because their Mom will be watching from nearby,” Liu Heming said, pointing to the big bear, who was eyeing the crowd warily.

Still feeling a bit uneasy, he put his daughter down and asked her to keep an eye on the big bear, in case she got nervous around so many people.

Alex was very obedient. She scampered over to the big bear, dragging the poor Baby Alligator along as it tumbled behind her.
