Chapter 158: The Popular Alex
Chapter 158: The Popular Alex
Jenny stayed for a while and checked on Charming Girl again. She was going to give birth in just over a month, so she was now an object of special care.
However, Jenny also reminded Liu Heming that Charming Girl’s diet needed some adjustments recently. She shouldn’t be fed too many nutritious foods, otherwise the baby inside her would grow too big, making delivery difficult later.
Liu Heming didn’t know about this. Thanks to Jenny’s reminder, because he had been planning to give Charming Girl extra meals.
When Jenny left, she took new photos of those Square Kittens. Their status had changed, so the adoption procedures had to be done again. Liu Heming also had his photo taken, just for his work permit.
After lunch, Liu Heming hitched up the Bear Cub, took his daughter, and came to the Restaurant with the three girls.
Yesterday, they didn’t know the Restaurant would be so busy and could let the three girls handle it alone. Now they knew, and the girls still had some injuries on their wrists. It wouldn’t be right to ignore that.
But this time, the Bear Kids could only ride inside the carriage. There were quite a lot of people today, and they weren’t the tiny little bears from before, so they wouldn’t fit squeezed in.
“Boss, I think today will be another tough battle,” Jenny said, looking at the long line outside the Restaurant, feeling both happy and worried.
Business was good, of course she was happy. These people waiting in line couldn’t possibly be here for the steak at Lewis’s Restaurant; they were basically waiting for our Pancakes and Chinese Hamburgers. But with so many people, they would probably be really busy today.
“Don’t worry, I’ll fight alongside you all until the end today,” Liu Heming said with a smile.
Arriving at the back, he opened the tailgate. The Little Bears clambered out somewhat clumsily from the back. Their group gave the people in line quite a scare. Who would have thought there would be two bears in the trunk?
The Bear Kids didn’t even glance at them, just lazily ambled into the shop on their own. As usual, they gave hugs to each of the waitstaff and people they knew in the shop.
“Dexter, congratulations on developing another new food. Waiting for you all to arrive today, I’ll probably have to stomp on the gas pedal hard,” a loud voice boomed as soon as Liu Heming stepped inside.
“Ralph, you’re running this route again lately? I think once the Little Bears get a bit bigger, you won’t be able to wrestle with them anymore,” Liu Heming joked.
He knew this guy. He was big and burly, looked fierce, had lots of tattoos, but was actually a really good person.
He was among the first to try the Rougamo, loved to have fun, and used to play gleefully with his daughter and the Little Bears. Whenever he passed by, he would bring small gifts for his daughter. Although they were just simple little things, his thoughtfulness was clear.
“I think I can’t handle them even now. They haven’t fully grown yet, but when they hugged me just now, I felt they were much stronger,” Ralph said, hugging Liu Heming, then picking up Alex. “Let me have a look at the Little Angel. Today I want to eat a Pancake made by the Little Angel herself, or else I’m sticking around here and not leaving.”
Alex wrinkled her little brow. “Uncle Ralph, I can make one for you, but… but will it be enough to fill you up? The Pancakes I make are really small.”
“Hahaha… Dexter, I think you must be specially favored by that old geezer God. Otherwise, how could you have such an adorable Little Angel,” Ralph roared with laughter, his mouth wide open.
Alex’s cuteness wasn’t just because the little one looked adorable; she was also smart and caring. Who wouldn’t like such a child? The truckers who often came here to eat were all fans of the little one.
Ralph’s words stirred up a commotion. A whole group of big men stood up inside the Restaurant. Liu Heming felt a headache coming on; these were all his daughter’s fans. If she had to make one for each of them, she would be exhausted.
“So you’re all willing to skip hitting the road today just to taste a Pancake?” Liu Heming asked gloomily as he tied his apron.
“Of course. Dexter, you have no idea, several of these guys here took detours to come,” Lewis said with a smile.
“You’ve got me. Your Pancakes are free today, eat as many as you want. But there’s one condition: Alex can only make a few portions, and you’ll have to share them,” Liu Heming said helplessly.
Lighting the fire and starting to spread the Pancake batter marked the beginning of today’s business.
Over there, Alex changed into her little Chef outfit and tied on her small apron. But she couldn’t come over right away to make Pancakes for her big fans. Who let the little one be so cute? These big men were scrambling to take photos with her.
There were many people lined up outside, but the ones inside were the ones with the earliest reservations. Liu Heming didn’t bother asking what flavors these truckers preferred; he just estimated their appetites and randomly added more meat inside.
He made Pancakes quite quickly, about one every three minutes, and he could handle three at once. Today he brought an extra Iron Griddle, though its quality was slightly worse than the first one he brought. It would have to do for now.
After finishing the photo session with the truckers, the little one stood in front of the Iron Griddle, very seriously spreading Pancake batter. The first one she finished was immediately snatched up by Ralph. Then a bunch of burly men gathered around the table, sharing that small Pancake. Liu Heming found it both funny and exasperating.
Finally, after dealing with these truckers, he could let his daughter rest, and the customers outside could start ordering properly.
At first, he was pleased that after the truckers left, seats became available in the Restaurant. But making Pancakes was fast; eating them was slow. Soon, the place was full again, with many people eating theirs held in paper.
“Lewis, can you think of any solution?” Liu Heming asked Lewis after wiping sweat from his brow.
“Dexter, what solutions are left? It was like this yesterday too,” Lewis said with a wry smile.
“I’ve gathered all the chairs I could find, and it’s still not enough. We’ll just have to tough it out for a few days. Probably once everyone has tried the taste, there won’t be so many people here.”
“But the temperature is getting higher and higher; people outside will get too much sun. How about this: ask John and the others to help put up an awning outside,” Liu Heming said, frowning.
The autumn heat was fierce, and it was getting drier and hotter. After yesterday’s buildup, there seemed to be even more people outside today. He was worried that with the long wait in the dry, hot weather, something might go wrong.
