Chapter 131: Bathing the Meow Star Creatures

To be honest, Meow Star Creatures were probably born with a natural halo of cuteness. Liu Heming still didn’t know what breed these four little ones were, but he loved their adorable appearance from the bottom of his heart.

He picked one up in his hand. The little creature was a bit restless and wanted to escape from his grasp. It was only after Alex stroked it a few times with her small hand that it calmed down and lay still.

“Dad, let’s hurry up and feed them,” Alex said anxiously.

“Don’t be in such a rush; they aren’t very hungry right now. Do you remember where you found them?” Liu Heming asked his daughter.

“It was when we were picking tomatoes. The Little Bears found them, and I put them in the basket. Why don’t they eat tomatoes? I like tomatoes, Dad likes them, Mom likes them, Uncle Robin likes them, the Bear Cubs like them, and Charming Girl likes them too,” the little girl said, then added with confusion.

Liu Heming couldn’t help but chuckle. In his daughter’s world, anything she liked to eat was considered good. Now that she had found these little kittens, she thought they should be fed tomatoes.

He couldn’t tell how old these little kittens were, but they seemed quite sturdy, so they were probably old enough to start eating solid food. He wondered if their mother had met with some misfortune, leaving them behind in his vegetable patch.

“Alex, if you plan to keep them, you must take good care of them from now on. Can you promise me that?” Liu Heming asked as he placed all four kittens into his daughter’s arms.

“Yes, I will take good care of them, but I offered them food and they wouldn’t eat it,” Alex nodded firmly, her tied-up hair bouncing with the movement.

“That’s because they don’t like vegetables; they like meat,” Liu Heming said, patting her head.

He had originally wanted to use this opportunity to explain to Alex the responsibility of adopting small animals—that once you take them in, you must be responsible for them. You can’t treat them like royalty one day and then abandon them the next if you lose interest. That would be highly irresponsible. Many stray pets end up that way because of such irresponsible owners.

But Alex was still too young, and he doubted she would understand even if he tried to explain. Besides, they were already raising big eaters like the Bear Kids, so what harm could there be in adding four little kittens to the mix?

The four little kittens seemed to have grown accustomed to Liu Heming’s scent, or perhaps they realized they were no match for him. They stayed still as he carried them into the house.

As they entered the Living Room, Alex grew a little nervous, her eyes darting toward Sasha. After playing with the kittens, she had gotten quite dirty and was worried Sasha would scold her.

“Alex showed great kindness by rescuing these four adorable little kittens. I’m going to take them upstairs to wash up,” Liu Heming said quickly, picking up on his daughter’s unease and speaking up on her behalf.

Sasha glanced at the little girl, frowned, then looked at Liu Heming. Both father and daughter, along with the Bear Cubs, were staring at her with pitiful expressions.

She had intended to give Alex a proper talking-to, but seeing their faces, she felt an unexpected urge to laugh. She could only wave her hand, signaling them to go upstairs and clean up.

The father and daughter duo, along with the Bear Kids, hurried toward the stairs as if granted a pardon.

“Sasha, think about it—being the true lady of this house doesn’t seem so bad,” Robin said with a smile after Liu Heming and the others had disappeared upstairs.

Sasha shot him a fierce glare before turning her attention back to her book.

Robin didn’t mind. He felt it was his duty to help Alex have a perfect family.

Liu Heming took Alex to the upstairs bathroom to bathe the four little kittens. After all, they had been living outdoors, and he wasn’t sure if they had any parasites.

But once they were there, he realized that bathing Meow Star Creatures, even tiny ones, was no easy task.

The four little creatures struggled fiercely, as if they were being tortured. While he was washing one, the other three would frantically paddle their short legs, trying to climb out of the bathtub.

Liu Heming took a look and concluded that their short legs were a real disadvantage. No matter how hard they tried, their small bodies weren’t going to get them anywhere, so he left them to their efforts.

When water from the showerhead sprayed onto the kitten he was holding, the little one stopped struggling. The other three, however, redoubled their efforts to escape.

He carefully wet the kitten in his hands, then applied pet-specific shampoo. The once plump and cute kitten suddenly looked rather ugly, with only its large head and round eyes remaining visible.

“You’re quite well-behaved. Isn’t it nice to be clean after a bath?” Liu Heming rinsed it off, wrapped it in a Blanket, and handed it to his daughter, who was watching nearby.

Just as he was about to reach for the next kitten, before his hand could even pull away, the wrapped-up kitten moved, stretching its head to bite his finger.

The little kitten’s strategy was successful—it bit down firmly. However, it was still a young kitten, and Liu Heming had thick skin, so the bite didn’t hurt him at all.

Bathing the remaining three kittens was quite a challenge. They weren’t as clever as the first one and struggled incessantly the whole time. Liu Heming had to be extra careful, afraid of getting water in their eyes.

It took nearly an hour just to bathe these four little ones. Now, all four were wrapped up in small Blankets, with only their heads poking out.

“Alright, let’s take them to Mom to look after,” Liu Heming said to Alex as he wiped his hands.

“Okay,” Alex nodded happily.

Father and daughter each carried two kittens and made their way downstairs. Regardless of whether Sasha was willing to care for them or not, they placed the four bundled-up kittens beside her.

Sasha gave the duo a glare, but since they had already brought them down, how could she not take care of them? Besides, the sight of the four kittens huddled together with only their heads showing was rather cute.

The father and daughter’s plan had worked. Liu Heming scooped up his daughter and carried her back upstairs. They had just finished bathing the four kittens, and now it was time to clean up his daughter, who was as dirty as a little grub.

Sasha glanced at their retreating figures and shook her head helplessly.
