Chapter 128: Oh, That Temptress!

“I need to cook and clean the fish. Could you please leave me alone?” Liu Heming looked at Nina, feeling utterly helpless.

If they were real lovers, all this clinginess might be fine. But given the current situation, if this mess continued, he would surely be driven crazy by Nina sooner or later.

“Why? Am I not pretty? Is my figure not good?” Nina blinked and asked very seriously.

“You are very pretty and your figure is great, but I have to cook,” Liu Heming nodded and replied just as seriously.

“Pfft.”

“Don’t mind me, you two keep going.” Sasha, who was nearby, couldn’t hold back a laugh. When everyone looked over, she waved her hand dismissively.

“Hmph!”

Nina snorted, let go of Liu Heming’s arm, ran to the sofa, and once again snuggled up to Sasha.

Liu Heming smacked his lips. Truth be told, he had quite enjoyed it just now. But he knew Nina was just messing around; it wasn’t serious. Besides, his heart was still set on Sasha.

He had the System on his side. No matter who Sasha’s supposed fiancé was, in the future he might only be slightly behind in looks, but he would definitely surpass him by miles in terms of wealth.

After thinking it over, Liu Heming didn’t delay any further and carefully cleaned the two large Grass Carp he had caught. He had specifically chosen them because his daughter loved Chopped Chili Fish Head too.

He had made Boiled Fish in Chili Oil and Chopped Chili Fish Head plenty of times before, so his hands moved swiftly. Before long, a large bowl of Boiled Fish in Chili Oil and two servings of Chopped Chili Fish Head were placed on the dining table.

“Mmm, this flavor is really good,” Nina remarked after taking a bite, giving her honest opinion.

“If you like it, have some more. We eat this quite often lately,” Liu Heming replied with a smile.

He was just being polite since Nina had complimented him, but after he spoke, Nina threw him a flirtatious glance from across the table, making his heart skip a beat again.

He had no time to deal with Nina now. He quickly lowered his head and focused on picking the meat from the fish head for his daughter.

“How come you all use chopsticks so well? I want to learn too,” Nina started causing trouble again after just a short while of eating.

Sticking to his principle of keeping a respectful distance, Liu Heming kept his head down and concentrated solely on picking the fish head meat.

Seeing that Liu Heming wasn’t responding, Nina pestered Sasha instead. “How come you’re so good at using them? Are you going to marry him? Then what about me?”

“Stop messing around and eat,” Sasha said, exasperated by Nina. She scolded her and shot her a glare.

“Hey, Dexter, you’re in luck. Sasha’s vacation has been extended again,” Nina said, poking at the rice in her bowl with a fork as she looked at Liu Heming.

“Extended again? That’s great,” Liu Heming looked up and said with unconcealed joy. But meeting Nina’s fierce glare and watching her fork stabbing repeatedly into the rice, he quickly shut up and went back to picking fish head meat.

He picked the meat meticulously. He didn’t eat a single bite himself, giving all the meat from the whole fish head to his daughter. The little one mixed the fish head meat with rice and ate with great relish.

He didn’t notice that after Nina finished speaking, the expressions on Sasha and Robin’s faces weren’t particularly happy. Nor did he ponder why Sasha’s vacation kept getting extended.

This meal was both tantalizing and torturous for Liu Heming. He truly couldn’t figure out what Nina was thinking; she kept teasing him with her feet during the meal. Not only that, after she finished eating herself, she insisted on sitting next to him, picking out fish meat for him.

If they were a normal couple, Liu Heming would have been very touched. Nina was very clumsy with chopsticks and struggled to pick out the fish bones. By the time she managed to remove the bones, the piece of fish meat was completely mashed up.

But the current situation was anything but normal. Nina surely had some kind of ulterior motive—perhaps she was asked by Sasha’s current fiancé to come and hassle him.

He felt utterly wronged. He hadn’t even started his pursuit of Sasha yet, and he was already under attack from the enemy. And he couldn’t even say anything harsh to Nina, because she and Sasha were extremely close best friends.

After the meal, Liu Heming went to the room upstairs and washed some Finger Sweet Potatoes. The suggested serving for future sales was one per day, but for his own family, it didn’t matter. Besides, even if he sold them now, he probably wouldn’t get a high price.

“I packed some Finger Sweet Potatoes for you. After you go back, eat one a day. It’s good for your health,” he said, placing a small bag of Sweet Potatoes beside Nina.

“Dexter, thank you for caring about me so much,” Nina’s eyes were full of “gratitude.”

Seeing Nina’s expression, Liu Heming’s intuition told him this girl was about to cause trouble again. But before he could react, Nina threw her arms around his neck and kissed him on the cheek.

“Swish, swish, swish swish swish—”

Before he could even savor the softness of Nina’s lips, he felt multiple pairs of eyes “shooting” toward him. They came from Sasha, Robin, Alex, and the Bear Kids.

Liu Heming’s face flushed red. He hadn’t expected Nina to be so bold. Now he was starting to wonder: was he really that charming now? Was Nina not sent by the enemy, but had actually fallen in love with him at first sight?

Otherwise, what kind of commitment would it take for her to kiss him just to complete a task? Even in the open-minded United States, this wasn’t how things were done.

He knew now wasn’t the time to explain—even if he did, would it help? The most important thing was to get away from Nina, this “she-devil.” He needed some quiet time.

Nina cast a triumphant glance at Sasha and made a funny face. Sasha could only shake her head helplessly, a trace of distress appearing between her brows.

“Dexter, thank you again for the Sweet Potatoes. You must take good care of Sasha. Look after Sasha and Alex well,” Nina said as she approached Liu Heming before leaving.

“I will definitely take good care of them. They’ve both put on some weight recently,” Liu Heming took a step back before speaking.

As soon as the words left his mouth, he wanted to slap himself. He knew perfectly well that Sasha was sensitive about her weight, so why had he let it slip? Wasn’t this admitting guilt without being accused? Wasn’t he telling Sasha that he had “accidentally” seen her secretly weighing herself? He sneakily glanced toward Sasha and, sure enough, she was glaring at him furiously.

Nina’s eyes shifted suspiciously between Sasha and Liu Heming, as if trying to figure out the exact nature of their relationship.

But even though she was with the FBI, she couldn’t quite decipher it. Before leaving, she patted Liu Heming’s arm, pinched his cheek again, and blew him another kiss.

Liu Heming sighed inwardly, “Oh, that temptress, that temptress.”
