Chapter 110: Horses Have a Girly Heart Too

The quick recovery of Charming Girl’s leg injury was joyful news, but Liu Heming did not invite the friends he knew here to celebrate as usual. He had no idea what the future held for Xiangshui Town, so he truly lacked the mood for it.

Moreover, even if he called George and the others over, they would only force smiles. What was the point of celebrating like that? He preferred having fun at home with his family.

He cooked a few dishes to express gratitude from Charming Girl to Jenny, the great benefactor. If not for Jenny, even with Liu Heming’s intentions to help, Charming Girl might not have achieved such a perfect outcome.

“This salad is really tasty, Dexter. Can I buy some vegetables from here to take back?” Jenny asked during the meal.

“What to buy? There are so many vegetables in the Vegetable Garden that I’m too lazy to sell them now. Pick some more later—many are too old and will only be saved for seeds.” Liu Heming shook his head.

He did not dislike the money from selling vegetables, but it was just too much work. His Vegetable Garden’s output was awkward—not too much, not too little. After deducting the costs for round-trip fuel, he earned little.

Although, after earning the title of Novice Farmer, the new fruits here tasted a bit better and yielded more, it was nothing special; no one felt unforgettable after eating them. Glent Town had many better kinds of vegetables than his, so there was no competitiveness.

Also, he grew vegetables suited to his taste: only Tomato, cucumber, and green pepper sold fairly well, while green beans and eggplant did poorly.

“Here’s an idea: I can ask my colleagues when I return. If they like them, can I bring them here to pick their own?” Jenny pondered briefly.

She honestly thought the vegetables here were good, and Liu Heming was a very nice person too.

“Then I thank you. Right now, we can’t even eat them all ourselves.” Liu Heming nodded and smiled.

“Oh, Dexter, you could plant some carrots in your Ranch. Carrots are Charming Girl’s favorite food, and they store easily—still fresh even in winter.” Jenny spoke again.

“Horses eat carrots?” Liu Heming asked curiously.

He really didn’t know that; if he had, he would have planted some for Charming Girl long ago. In his understanding, horses only ate grass, hay, green grass, and a bit of bean meal.

“Not just carrots—they like sweeter fruits and vegetables too. Probably they can taste sweetness, so they favor such items. After we finish eating, try giving a Tomato. Some horses can be picky eaters.” Jenny nodded gently.

With Jenny’s suggestion, both Liu Heming and Alex couldn’t sit still. The father and daughter had similar personalities—always eager to give treats to animals, like a pair of bear kids, almost the luckiest bears.

“You two might as well go pick now, or you won’t enjoy your meal.” Sasha said helplessly, seeing how restless they were.

If it were at her own home, Alex wouldn’t act this way—she’d do everything properly. But here, on Liu Heming’s turf, the two of them acted on whims, especially when the little one was interested. Whatever Liu Heming was doing, he’d set it aside to join Alex.

At first, she wanted to tell Liu Heming this wasn’t good. But lately, she noticed her daughter seemed happier and better-behaved.

Alex used to be obedient but never took initiative. Now, every morning, she brushed the Bear Cubs and sometimes stood on a chair to brush Charming Girl’s hair. If she didn’t sleep in, she got up to help Liu Heming work.

It felt like her daughter had grown up quickly. That little joy was genuine daily, and she wasn’t as picky with food anymore.

This change came after living on the Ranch, and Sasha believed it was good—she should let Alex keep it up.

In this home, though Sasha rarely voiced her thoughts, she was definitely the boss. Now that she spoke, the father and daughter bolted out like pardoned prisoners. Following behind, the Bear Kids eyed the bit of food left in their basin, then looked at Liu Heming and his group. They grabbed their basins and walked out eating, struggling in the process as their bear paws weren’t strong enough.

“Sasha, I really envy your family,” Jenny said admiringly as they went out.

Sasha’s face slightly reddened, and she stayed quiet. She struggled to respond because what Jenny admired was a fake family scenario deep down.

Liu Heming carried Alex to the Vegetable Garden and picked a few ripe Tomatoes. Turning back, he saw the Bear Kids carrying basins and picked more for them.

When the Bear Kids were younger, they often snuck into the Vegetable Garden to eat secretly. Now, they were sensible bears—they wouldn’t even eat if someone told them to; only when handed the food. They’d probably need to mature more to learn how to handle conflicting commands.

Excitedly, they hurried over to Charming Girl, who was resting in the shade of the Warehouse. Seeing them approach, she moved closer.

“Charming Girl, try this—see if it’s good,” Alex held the Tomato she picked toward Charming Girl’s mouth.

Charming Girl glanced at it but showed no reaction.

“Wait—she might not have eaten it before. Let’s break the Tomato in half,” Liu Heming said. He took the Tomato from Alex’s hand and split it, placed it back into her palm.

The Tomato was truly ripe—as he split it, its scent wafted out. He felt like biting into the pulp.

Looking at the Tomato in Alex’s hand, Charming Girl licked it politely. After licking, Charming Girl gave a light head shake and moved her ears slightly forward. Then she rubbed her big head against Alex. Finally, she snatched the half Tomato from Alex’s hand with her mouth and started eating heartily.

“Haha, who knew you all have a girly heart too—you really love sweet food,” Liu Heming burst out laughing.

Charming Girl’s behavior clearly revealed joy—since they’d been together so long, he easily recognized it as her outward happiness.

It pleased Liu Heming greatly; at least now he had a way to use the Tomatoes—feeding them to Charming Girl as fruit.
