Chapter 53: Chairman!
Chapter 53: Chairman!
Chen Mo had just walked into the room when he saw Xiaoyu sitting absent-mindedly on the bed, her gaze unfocused, lost in thought.
Seeing this, Chen Mo gently walked over and sat down beside her.
“Xiaoyu.”
“Oh. Let’s sleep.” Startled by Chen Mo’s call, Xiaoyu came back to herself. She glanced at him briefly before lying down on the bed.
“Are you still angry? If you’re still angry, you can hit me or scold me,” Chen Mo said softly.
“No, after I bit you, I wasn’t angry anymore.” Xiaoyu turned over to face Chen Mo.
“Then why are you so unhappy?” Chen Mo asked.
“When I got off work today, I overheard some colleagues talking about seeing the Chairman. Their descriptions reminded me of you. And then there was Sister Zhao’s words. And most importantly, the Army Ant logo that appears when I turn on the phone you gave me. Before, I was just puzzled and didn’t think much about it. But today, everything started to connect.” Xiaoyu spoke softly.
“And then?” Chen Mo hugged Xiaoyu and asked tenderly.
“I looked up news about Legion Ant Company online. The legal representative and Chairman of Legion Ant Company is Chen Mo—known by name, but no one has ever seen him. Do you know how I felt when I saw the name ‘Chen Mo’?”
“How did you feel?” Chen Mo asked with a bitter smile.
“Both happy and angry,” Xiaoyu said. “Happy because my boyfriend is so impressive; angry because you kept it from me. If you hadn’t told me tonight, biting you would’ve been nothing.”
Recalling the moment she discovered Chen Mo’s identity at the company today, Xiaoyu’s emotions were mixed. If Chen Mo hadn’t told her tonight, she wouldn’t have known whether she should pretend not to know in the future.
After Chen Mo confessed, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders—at least now she wouldn’t have to pretend she was clueless.
“I’m sorry. I promise I won’t keep anything from you from now on.”
“You don’t need to apologize. Right now, I almost wish I didn’t know the truth. I preferred you being the ordinary you.” Xiaoyu replied with a bitter smile. “Now I’m thinking about how I should punish you.”
“Tell me, whatever punishment it is, I’ll accept it.” Seeing Xiaoyu’s demeanor, Chen Mo felt a wave of relief.
“I was originally going to give you all of myself this weekend, but since you kept this from me for half a year, for the next six months, you can’t touch me.” After saying this, Xiaoyu burst into cheerful laughter.
“What? Seriously?” Hearing this, Chen Mo’s face fell in dismay.
“What? Not willing? Fine, as punishment for lying to me, I’ll move out and stay with Ruoxi. Then you can wash your own smelly socks,” Xiaoyu said.
“Who said I’m not willing? I’ve been on my own for years; what’s another six months? Besides, you’ll be mine sooner or later anyway.”
“Who’s yours? Right now, you’re under probation. If you keep anything else from me, I’ll go home and go on a blind date.”
Thinking about the idea of a blind date, Xiaoyu laughed even more happily, burying her head in Chen Mo’s chest.
The next morning, when Chen Mo woke up and saw the faint smile on Xiaoyu’s face, he felt relieved. Yesterday’s events hadn’t affected Xiaoyu badly, and that put his mind at ease.
After breakfast, Chen Mo took Xiaoyu with him to the company.
“Xiaoyu, are you bringing your lovey-dovey act all the way to the company?”
Just as they reached the company entrance, Li Ruoxi appeared. Seeing the two holding hands, she teased, “Don’t tell me you want him to work here too?”
“He actually will be working here from now on,” Xiaoyu said.
“Really? Seriously, rubbing it in? Chen Mo, which department are you in?” Li Ruoxi looked at Chen Mo.
“No department,” Chen Mo said with a smile.
“You’re not here to apply for a job, are you?” Li Ruoxi said.
“Chairman.”
Just as Li Ruoxi finished speaking, Zhao Min walked over, smiling as she looked at Chen Mo and Xiaoyu.
“C…Chairman?” Li Ruoxi was momentarily stunned, staring blankly at Chen Mo. The information was just too much to process all at once.
“Chen Mo is the company’s Chairman,” Xiaoyu whispered into Li Ruoxi’s ear.
“Heh heh.” Li Ruoxi’s smile turned stiff. “Stupid Xiaoyu, why didn’t you tell me sooner? This is so embarrassing, you know? Hello, Chairman.” Li Ruoxi quickly greeted Chen Mo.
Zhao Min’s greeting immediately drew everyone’s attention to Chen Mo. This was the first time she had publicly revealed the Chairman’s identity in front of the employees.
“Hello, everyone.” Chen Mo greeted them.
“Hello, Chairman,” everyone responded promptly.
“Everyone, get back to work. Let’s talk inside. Ruoxi, you come too.” After speaking, Chen Mo led the way toward Zhao Min’s Office.
“Let’s go.” Xiaoyu pulled Li Ruoxi along as they followed Chen Mo and Zhao Min inside.
Once they were gone, the office area immediately erupted in chatter.
“No wonder Xiaoyu became the President’s Assistant as soon as she arrived—she’s the Chairman’s girlfriend.”
“The Chairman is so young and handsome.”
“Yeah, he is. The department head is coming, better get back to work.”
…
The four of them walked into the President’s Office, and everyone’s eyes were on Chen Mo.
“I came today to meet the company’s management,” Chen Mo said.
“Got tired of playing around, or finally came to your senses?” Zhao Min teased.
It had been six months since the company started, and Chen Mo had only visited a handful of times. Every time she reported financial and company updates to Chen Mo, it was over the phone. Usually, trying to find him was impossible.
Still, she appreciated the trust he placed in her and had been working diligently all along.
She was the backbone of the company, and Chen Mo was her anchor. With Chen Mo back, she could handle things more boldly, without constantly worrying that something big might go wrong.
Chen Mo just smiled at Zhao Min’s remark.
“I’ll go out now and notify everyone for a meeting. It just so happens that we’re preparing for the Smart Assistant launch today, so all the department managers are here.” After saying this, Zhao Min left the Office to have people notified, then returned shortly after.
“Starting tomorrow, I’ll be coming to work here. Have someone finish setting up my work area, and speed up the Laboratory,” Chen Mo said. “Ruoxi, go to the administration system and have Li Lingfeng mentor you for a while.”
“Me?” Li Ruoxi pointed at herself in disbelief. “Why me?”
“Back when you ‘sold’ Xiaoyu’s info to me, I still owed you a favor.”
Li Ruoxi stuck out her tongue, remembering how she had immediately handed over Xiaoyu’s information to Chen Mo when they first met at the Library. Thinking back, it was kind of funny. She just never imagined that Chen Mo would become the Chairman of a major company. Her mind was still struggling to catch up.
“What about Xiaoyu? Your girlfriend—should I transfer her to be your assistant?” Zhao Min teased.
Xiaoyu blushed slightly at Zhao Min’s words but didn’t argue, just sat quietly beside Chen Mo.
“No need. Let her continue learning from you. If she’s with me, I won’t be able to teach her much.”
Soon after, the management had gathered in the conference room. After being notified, Chen Mo and Zhao Min brought Xiaoyu and the others to the meeting.
Tomorrow would be his official start at the company, so it was necessary to meet the management today.
Once the four of them entered the conference room, the room immediately fell silent. All eyes were on Chen Mo. They had already heard the news—the elusive Chairman, who was like a Divine Dragon, had finally arrived at the company and planned to stay for good.
Chen Mo walked in and took the seat at the head of the table, scanning the room.
“Hello, everyone. Many of you have already seen me, but I still want to formally introduce myself. I am Chen Mo, the Chairman of the company…”
