CEO’s Office.
Xiaoyu sat across from Zhao Min, her eyes full of doubt. Throughout the day, she felt this President treated her especially well.
She was just a new intern, yet the President kept her close, exposing her to the most important matters. Thinking about it carefully, something did not feel right.
“Xiaoyu, first day at work. Have you gotten used to it?” Zhao Min asked.
“It’s alright.” Xiaoyu hesitated to speak her mind.
“You’re wondering why I’m looking after you so much, right?” Zhao Min noticed Xiaoyu’s hesitation and smiled slightly.
“Yes.” Xiaoyu nodded.
“Do you remember the incident on Shopping Street when your boyfriend saved the baby? I was the one whose bag was snatched by the robber that day.” Zhao Min said calmly. “Yesterday, I thought you looked familiar but couldn’t place you. Later, someone reminded me, and I remembered.”
Xiaoyu looked at Zhao Min in surprise. The crowd had been chaotic that day, and her attention was entirely on Chen Mo. She hadn’t noticed Zhao Min at all.
“You’re treating me specially because of that?” Xiaoyu asked.
“Of course not. Your boyfriend is a very outstanding person, and you are an excellent girl too.”
“Thank you.”
Xiaoyu smiled but didn’t truly believe it. No matter how capable she was, it seemed impossible for a new intern to be involved with top-level matters right away.
“It’s time to get off work now.” Zhao Min smiled.
“Oh, goodbye, Sister Zhao.”
After Xiaoyu left, Zhao Min called Chen Mo. “Chairman, there’s something I want to ask you.”
“Go ahead.”
“You really don’t plan to tell Xiaoyu?” Zhao Min asked.
“This problem really gives me a headache. I’ll bring it up tonight.” Chen Mo, sitting in the shop, looked somewhat helpless.
He understood Xiaoyu. If she knew about this, she would definitely feel burdened, and it would affect her life. Now that Xiaoyu had joined the company, and with the Laboratory completed in a few days, he would also be going to the company. It was time to come clean.
“Since you said that, I feel relieved. Now that Xiaoyu is my employee, I might meddle a bit. It’s time for me to get off work now. Goodbye, Mr. Chairman.” Zhao Min said.
In the shop, Chen Mo put down his phone, let out a sigh, and turned his attention back to the mobile phone design on his computer.

Xiaoyu was full of doubts. After packing her things, she took her bag and left. Just as she stepped out of the company entrance, Li Ruoxi approached her.
“Xiaoyu, how was work today?”
“Pretty good. General Manager Zhao treated me quite well.”
Xiaoyu kept recalling Zhao Min’s words, feeling something was off. But she couldn’t quite figure out what exactly was wrong.
“Did you hear? That handsome guy beside General Manager Zhao yesterday is our company’s most mysterious Chairman.”
“Everyone thought he was General Manager Zhao’s boyfriend, but it turns out he’s the Chairman. He’s so young, like a recent university graduate, and doesn’t have that nerdy tech vibe. He’s sunny and handsome. It must be wonderful to be his girlfriend.”
Just as Xiaoyu and Li Ruoxi walked out of the company entrance, two female office workers followed them out, chatting and laughing.
“Graduate? Techie? Sunny?”
Hearing their conversation, a figure immediately appeared in Xiaoyu’s mind. She hurriedly took out her phone and opened a search.
“Xiaoyu, what are you doing?”
“Looking for an answer.”
Xiaoyu felt anxious, her body tensing up. Soon, she bit her lip, put away her phone, and became absent-minded.
“Xiaoyu, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Li Ruoxi noticed Xiaoyu’s state and immediately sensed something was off.
“It’s nothing. It’s just that this answer surprised me a lot.” Xiaoyu said calmly.
“What answer?” Li Ruoxi asked.
“I’ll tell you after some time.” Xiaoyu took a deep breath.
“Xiaoyu, that’s not fair. I’m your best friend who shared a bed with you. What matter can you not even tell me? Is it about Chen Mo? Are you two, hmm~~” Li Ruoxi’s smile turned mischievous, with a knowing look.
Xiaoyu, interrupted by Li Ruoxi, blushed. “Stop imagining things. Let’s go quickly, or we’ll get stuck in traffic.”

That night, Chen Mo sat on the sofa, quietly reading a book. He was also thinking about how to bring up the topic with Xiaoyu later.
Soon, footsteps sounded in the living room. Xiaoyu, as usual, wore her nightgown and sat down beside him. She opened her laptop and quietly watched a show.
“How was work today?” Chen Mo asked.
“Okay. The President treated me quite well. I don’t know why she’s so good to me.” Xiaoyu said calmly.
“Xiaoyu, if I were hiding something from you, what would you do?” Chen Mo put down his book, held Xiaoyu’s shoulder, and let her lean against him.
“That depends on what it is.” Xiaoyu allowed Chen Mo to hold her, lost in thought.
“Remember when I helped you remove the virus? Because of that, we had that funny misunderstanding at the Library.”
Chen Mo thought for a moment before speaking. As soon as he finished, Xiaoyu chuckled. The memory of that incident at the Library still made her laugh whenever she recalled the scene.
“And then?” Xiaoyu said.
“During the global computer virus crisis, the antivirus software I developed could remove the virus. I sold it to Qihu Company. That was my first pot of gold. Later, I used that money to register a company…”
“Stop.” Xiaoyu interrupted Chen Mo. “Let me be quiet for a moment.” Xiaoyu leaned on Chen Mo’s shoulder, her gaze fixed on the computer screen.
Chen Mo felt uneasy. He had never seen Xiaoyu like this before, and it made him unsure. But he wisely remained silent.
Only when the show on the computer ended did Xiaoyu speak. “Why are you telling me this all of a sudden?”
“You’ve joined the company now. You’d find out sooner or later. It’s better to confess proactively. When did you find out?” Chen Mo smiled wryly.
“Never mind when I found out. If I hadn’t joined the company, were you planning not to tell me?”
“No.”
“Don’t speak right now. I feel like hitting you.”
Before Chen Mo could react, Xiaoyu clenched her fists and pounded them wildly on his shoulders. After a while, Xiaoyu cried out in pain and rubbed her own fists.
Seeing this, Chen Mo laughed. Once again, she hurt herself while trying to hit him.
“You’re still laughing.”
Xiaoyu’s face turned red. She clenched her small fists again and pummeled him. Only when she got tired did she stop.
“Not angry anymore?” Chen Mo grabbed Xiaoyu’s reddened hands.
“I’m still very angry. Don’t move. I want to bite you.” Having said that, Xiaoyu buried her face in Chen Mo’s shoulder.
“Oh…”
Chen Mo did not resist. He held Xiaoyu in his arms and gently comforted her. As long as Xiaoyu was willing to vent her anger, it was fine. He was more afraid of her being silent and sullen like earlier.
After half a minute, Xiaoyu let go. Looking at the bloody bite mark on Chen Mo’s shoulder, she frowned slightly.
“Does it hurt?”
“Who asks if it hurts after biting someone like that?”
“Serves you right. Who told you to hide such a big thing from me.”
Xiaoyu snorted lightly, got up, and rummaged through the cabinet. Soon, she returned with a bottle of red medicine and cotton swabs, and began treating Chen Mo’s wound.
“You’re not angry anymore?”
“Ask again, and I’ll bite you once more.”
After carefully treating Chen Mo’s wound, Xiaoyu put down the red medicine and went back to the room. Chen Mo waited until the red medicine on his shoulder dried, then packed up his books and entered the room.
