Chen Mo rushed all the way back to the rented apartment, looked at the empty doorway, and felt frustrated.
Didn’t they say thirty minutes? He rushed back in just twenty minutes, right? Why was there nothing there? Maybe someone took it?
Feeling frustrated, Chen Mo called Xiaoyu’s phone.
No one answered?
Chen Mo felt even more confused. With a frustrated mood, he opened the apartment door. As soon as he stepped inside, he stopped in his tracks and stared ahead in disbelief.
On the sofa, Xiaoyu sat quietly with a smile on her face. Beside her, there was a suitcase.
Her dark long hair was tied up, with two strands of bangs framing her forehead. She wore a high-neck fitted sweater and jeans, giving off a delicate and elegant vibe.
“Your surprise is here. Sign for it,” Xiaoyu said as she stood up from the sofa, smiling sweetly.
“Okay, I’ll sign.” Chen Mo smiled, walked over, pulled Xiaoyu into a hug, and kissed her.
“Mmph… Mmph!”
A minute later, Xiaoyu buried her face in Chen Mo’s chest, breathing a little heavily. Her cheeks were flushed with shyness.
“You’re bullying me right away.”
“I’m just signing,” Chen Mo chuckled. “Will you stay here from now on?”
“Are you not welcoming me?” Xiaoyu said.
“Of course I welcome you. How could I not?” Chen Mo replied without hesitation. Before, he had tried many ways to get Xiaoyu to move in, but it never worked. Now, it felt like a huge surprise.
“This place is too small. I’ll look for a bigger apartment later, and we can move there.”
“No need, I think it’s quite cozy here.”
“That won’t do. I can’t let you feel uncomfortable.”
“I said no need, so no need. You should listen to me.” Xiaoyu planted a kiss on Chen Mo’s cheek.
“Okay, I’ll listen to you. If you ever want to change the environment, just tell me. We can go anywhere you want,” Chen Mo said, holding Xiaoyu.
“Alright, don’t be so mushy.” Xiaoyu broke free from Chen Mo’s embrace, her face still red. “I made plans with Ruoxi today to report at the internship company. I need to go meet her now.”
“Alright, be careful on your own.”
After Xiaoyu left, Chen Mo pulled out a few physics books and started reading.
During the time he studied computer language, besides finishing his 400th book and getting the second book on computer language creation, Chen Mo only occasionally read during his artificial intelligence research.
Out of the mission of reading 1,000 books given by the Science and Technology Library, he had only read a little over 490 so far. He still needed a few more to pass 500. To upgrade his permissions in the Science and Technology Library, this was a task he had to complete.
With some free time now, he planned to finish his 500th book today. Once he got into the zone, Chen Mo became completely absorbed.
Three hours later, Chen Mo put down the sixth book, looking relieved. After reading many physics books, much of the knowledge overlapped, so he learned very quickly.
With 500 books completed, it was time to get the technology. Chen Mo lay on the bed and entered the Science and Technology Library.
“Elder Shu, I’m here to get the technology.”
“Hmm, the 500th book. You’re past the halfway point,” Elder Shu nodded. “You now have a choice to make. What do you want to pick?”
“Show me all the models of the Butterfly Eye Phone,” Chen Mo said.
The Butterfly Eye had been on the market for a while now, meaning it had entered the game. The next step was to launch a second phone model to establish a firm position in the market.
Because there were no major breakthroughs in phone technology, the current phone market mostly involved tweaking the operating system, or swapping chips and screens— basically superficial changes to make money.
However, since the Butterfly Eye’s exterior design was so unique, Zhao Min didn’t dare rush to release a second model. If they recklessly launched a second phone with an ugly design and no major technological improvements, the reputation they had just built could collapse instantly.
That’s why Zhao Min discussed the second phone with Chen Mo. After all, the first phone was designed by Chen Mo, and no one else could really take over that design.
As soon as Chen Mo finished speaking, Elder Shu waved his hand, and over a hundred books appeared in front of Chen Mo.
“All the Novice-level Butterfly Eye series phones are here,” Elder Shu said.
Each product inherited the beautiful exterior style of the Butterfly Eye series. Chen Mo immediately focused on the book descriptions.

Chen Mo browsed through all the phone introductions, but this time he was a bit more careful. Chen Mo memorized the most beautiful exterior designs and patterns of the Butterfly Eye phones shown on the book covers.
It would take a long time to apply for design patents for these appearances. So, he decided to design all the exteriors at once and apply for the patents, so he wouldn’t have to go through the trouble of designing and applying again later.
After memorizing the appearance designs, Chen Mo focused on the “Butterfly Eye Smartphone” in front of him. Smartphone assistant, hands-free voice operation.
This was a big selling point, since there weren’t any truly hands-free voice-operated phones on the market yet.
“Elder Shu, does this book contain Xiao Die’s source code?” Chen Mo asked.
“Yes. This is the biggest feature of this phone, just like the waterproof interface. It also includes the source code for the Smart Assistant.”
“I’ll take this one,” Chen Mo said immediately.
Elder Shu nodded, grabbed the book, and tapped it into Chen Mo’s head. After obtaining the Butterfly Eye phone design and the Smart Assistant’s source code, and having a brief chat with Elder Shu, Chen Mo left the Science and Technology Library.
Just as he stepped out of the room and prepared to organize the Butterfly Eye design, the apartment door opened. Xiaoyu walked in carrying several large bags.
Chen Mo took the bags from Xiaoyu’s hands. “Why did you buy so much stuff?”
“Some of my daily necessities, and I bought some groceries to cook. These are clothes I bought for you. Your clothes are all old, and you only have a few sets. I bought you two new outfits.”
“Having you as my girlfriend is a huge win,” Chen Mo said with a heartfelt smile.
“You only realized that now,” Xiaoyu wrinkled her nose at him. “I’ll tell you some good news. I reported at the internship company today and start working tomorrow.”
“Doing what?” Chen Mo asked.
“Being the General Manager’s assistant.”
“General Manager’s assistant? You just started interning and got that position? Could there be something bad about it? You should just quit. I can recommend a job for you—be my assistant. I’ll cover food and housing, and you can decide your own salary.” Chen Mo looked at Xiaoyu with a hint of jealousy.
“Are you jealous?” Xiaoyu stared at Chen Mo with a smile.
“No.”
“Then you want me to be your nanny? That won’t do. I wouldn’t get any pay if I followed you. I can’t just start spending your money right away. I need to have my own job; what would we do otherwise?” Xiaoyu said.
“I just think it might not be right for an intern like you to become the General Manager’s assistant so suddenly.”
“The General Manager is a woman. She won’t have any bad intentions toward me. Feel better now? The previous assistant switched jobs, and there wasn’t a suitable replacement yet. I was lucky. I was originally in the Finance Department as an accountant, but the General Manager said I looked a bit familiar. Since she needed an assistant, she temporarily assigned me to be her assistant.”
“Is that so? Why would the General Manager find you familiar? Have you met before?” Chen Mo asked, puzzled.
“No, I’ve never seen her,” Xiaoyu shook her head.
“What’s the company called?” Chen Mo continued.
“Legion Ant Company.”
